WILDSTYLE: What One Guy Can Draw

  • Welcome to another episode of Drawing with Peter Draws. Today we are using the Rotring Isograph 0.35 to draw in a Moleskine sketchbook. I am pretty happy with how the drawings turned out, even though neither of them turned out like I expected, that doesn't really matter, does it? We just gotta take what we get, and not fight ourselves too much in the process.

@@peter_draws I have a vision of all the Peters sitting together, Guitar Peter playing way a feel good melody, while Voice Peter reads the comments in a poetic way. Cooking Peter has a nice bubbling stew on the stove and a sweet smelling cake in the oven. Drawing Peter is making an artist interpretation of the scene. Face peter is just sitting there looking pretty, but he likes doing that anyway, so he has his famous smile on his lips. The only one not in the scene is Cameraman Peter, but he’s never in the scene. I don’t know all the other Peter’s but it seems to be a very cosy gathering. Kinda jealous, tbh. Lucky for us, we get to glimpse in on these scenes every now and then!

I'm from France, and I tell you the Tour de France is one of my most consistent childhood memories. Every year, as a child, every summer, there would be those few weeks where it was the only thing we'd watch on TV. It lasted hours in the middle of the day, and I guess we had nothing better to do than watch those guys cycle around. There was always something poetic about sitting there doing nothing, with a fresh drink in hand while a bunch of crazy bicycle guys spent all their energy trying to win the day's race. The broadcast was punctuated with aerial shots from a helicopter, accompanied by the voice of a sports commentator and some specialist of the region's history (every stage of the tour is in a new region basically) telling you about the local castles, the mountains, the culture. It was a pretty great way to travel while staying at home. One summer I was at my grandmother's house and the Tour de France (or some other race, I was young, I assumed it was the TdF apparently) happened to pass in the local area. We went there and stood by the side of the road, waiting for the cyclists, sure, but most importantly we wanted the publicity cars to throw us merch and toys (it's a thing; they follow the whole TDF convoy and throw stuff to people on the side of the road: makes for great publicity).
I've never been interested in cycling, but it's a thing people do. We're French, we watch the TdF and Roland Garros (the tennis one). Great memories; thanks Peter for letting them come back to me

Today's art reminds me of Terry Gilliam's art (Monty Python). I have been consuming the back catalogue of Peter's art for medical/stress reduction reasons and have concluded that Peter's voice, humour and art induces a lower pulse rate, lower blood pressure and greatly helps sleep in these uncertain times.

Mine had to be refilled and if you didn't clean it out once you were done using it for the day, you had to buy a new one at $20 a pop. For art student me that was expensive especially back then. Peter! I appreciate that your videos dont have any background music, making it PERFECT to listen to while practicing piano.

Hullo Peter, wonderful drawing as per usual I enjoyed the bicycling commentary as you drew, it was fascinating to consider and an interesting topic as well. I do enjoy listening to your views and like that you are never boring! Please be safe out there and take care.
