I believe you have to turn the grinder adjustment while the machine is grinding the coffee. Not while its making coffee.

The grinding adjustment dial must only be turned when the
coffee mill is in operation during the initial phase of coffee
preparation

Kind of like changing gears on a bike only while the chain is moving.

I literally searched for hours how to adjust the water ratio to coffee ratio and couldnt find anything till yours. My espresso shots were pouring a full cup of water to one shot and now after i followed your directions, it's perfect! No more watered down espresso! Thank you!!!!!

The grind coarseness with this DeLonghi machine confused me, as I wasn’t sure whether to turn the dial literally while it was actually grinding or just slightly after! So thanks for showing us when to do this 😃 I have to say that’s a weird feature and confusing! They should have made that a bit more straightforward in my opinion.

I like to try out different coffee beans. Being in Australia, we get heaps of different varieties. However, the one we have most often is Vittoria, simply because it’s the brand that’s most readily available in Coles or Woolworths.

Good video. One thing I would expand on. When the grinder has beans in it it stops you from making a finer adjustment on the grind because it can't squash the beans in between grinders and you will break it. It is not that the machine needs to be running but you must make the adjustment in the short time the bean is actually grinding. I do not think you need to do it for backing it out for a larger grind but if it is difficult to move the dial I would do it the same as making it finer.

From my research you should keep your grinder settings on 3 or 2 for better espresso but again choice is yours

You can actually adjust the latte option too. Just hold press when you press the button the second time. Does that make sense? Hope this helps

Thanks, Bernie. Cleaning the hopper would have been a nice one. Missed that. But I just use a paper towel to wipe the internal surface. That’s it. We have to avoid getting the grinders wet. Hope this helps

Yes. It will stop the milk from pouring. I guess it’s a way to give you control over how much milk your latte will have.

Thanks for the support! Goes a long way! If you’ve already changed the setting, the only way I know how is to restore it to factory settings. My newest video touches on how to restore it to factory settings.
How do you reset the machine to factory settings?
You hold-press for 5 seconds the “My Latte”, “foamed Milk”, and “X2” buttons together. That’s how you restore the values and settings of the machine. Hope this helps!

Yes. You can definitely do that. I
I have a video where I specifically talk about how to do that.
Just one issue, you should only adjust the grind while the grinder is running. I.e. while the beans are being consumed by the machine.
The reason for this is to prevent damage to the grinder by causing it to jam .
If you adjust the grind when the grinder is not running, you can jam coffee beans between the grinding surfaces. By having the grinder running while adjusting, this bean jamming can't happen.
You're half way correct in you make a coffee while adjusting, but you only have a brief few seconds to do this while the beans are moving in the hopper.

Thanks Gabe. Delonghi is not very good with instructions and explaining things. One thing I still haven’t figured out is when using preground coffee when do I have to put in the grounds specifically for the non milk options i.e black coffee

Great video . I have just had the Magnifica Evo for 3 weeks . It is squeaking when starting up and shutting down. Can you help?

for the non-mechanial: you need to turn the knob WHILE the grinder is running, not while the hot water is being pressed :D

Hmmm? I’m not sure. Cuz the machine only increasing the temperature of drinks in general. So I dunno if that includes the milk
@@gabeslifestuff I have done a few experiments and using cold milk from the fridge is the problem. Too much of a step up. 1 minute in the microwave BEFORE I use it and I get plumes of steam. Much better foam.

You can factory reset all the custom settings by pressing 3 buttons at the same time (first 2 buttons for coffee and the right hand side top button)
Hi Gabe, when fitting a new filter how do we let the machine know? I've followed the manual and it asks me to open milk valve and then just pumps out cold water - I don't have exactly the same model as yours but very similar button process
You mean water filter? You really don’t have to do anything beside replacing the old one with the new. I hope this helps.
@@gabeslifestuff Thanks for the reply - what I needed to do was trust the machine, after pumping out half the water tank thru the milk frother it now knows its had a new filter fitted and can restart the timer.. Just incase anyone has same question
