I remember renting this from the video store, Valley Forge Video and enjoying playing it a lot in early 1996. I skipped Final Fight 2 and didn’t play it until many years later through emulation on my PC. Final Fight 1 and Final Fight 3 are my favorites. This game got mixed reviews because the beat ‘em up genre was getting a bit stale by late 1995 plus the next generation consoles had just been released worldwide. People were going crazy over the new 32-bit 3D polygon graphics and didn’t really care too much about what was going on with the 16-bit games so much.
I remember buying this one, my beard grew in when I was 15 and I hit the slot machines when I went on vacation with my grandmother. Managed to win $75 before security caught on that I was too young and had my grandmother cash in my winnings, bought final fight 3 for $40, loved it
For me it wasn't underrated either. Plenty of us were on to Guy. In fact Guy got me into sneakers. I loved his footwear in the artist pictures. Either jordan or chucks. Axel from Crazy Taxi cemented the love.

@@BobbyLips Nice try but no. Streets of Rage wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for Final Fight. I will give Double Dragon, Double Dragon II and Golden Axe their props.
Final Fight 2 had a lot of depth for this genre. It came out a little too late in the Snes lifespan so it got overlooked but it was great for the branching paths and the diverse moves and combos for each character.
Here in Brazil this game was the real deal back in the 90's/beginning of the 20's. SNES was widely popular (and affordable) so everyone was play FF3, also known as "Briga de rua" (street fighting).
@@antiseize11 True, but they been teasing us with that epic battle between Hagger and Zangief for ages. We got a minimum of 5 Ryu on each game, 6 if you count Sagat. They teased a some kind of evil Sagat in SF5 story mode so I do wanna know what’s that about
FF3 came out towards the end of the SNES lifecycle and beat em ups were not as popular in 1995. It’s still an amazing game. Better than 2. FF1 is still the best of the 3 imo.
I LOVE Final Fight 3! My brother and I rented it a lot back in the day from Blockbuster Video. Eventually, I just bought the cartridge used from Blockbuster. This is my favorite Final Fight game. Besides the gameplay being fun, I loved this game for the music as well! When we would play FF3 with our friends, one friend would always "sing" along to the stage music (the music has no vocals, btw)! That's how great the music was!
I love Final Fight 3 and was thrilled when Lucia was added to Street Fighter 5. It's too bad she didn't gain much popularity, I thought she was quite fun to play. But anyway, FF3 is great. It's only misstep is Haggar's ponytail. Yikes. That's why they won't let him join the roster of Street Fighter.
It’s ironic how it was being sold for clearance prices at that time and how expensive it is now since there weren’t very many copies of the game produced.
I love both Final Fight 2 and Final Fight 3. I played the ever-loving crap out of 2 and really only stopped when I got 3, though I still return to 2 on occasion to this day. I loved that Final Fight 3 allowed for a CPU partner and running (as well as walking backward, which sounds funny but can actually provide an advantage in fights) and the cool Super moves. I found a new favorite character in Lucia and almost exclusively play as her (she's also my main character in Street Fighter V; I was over the moon when they added her to the roster). And as you mentioned, the branching paths added a lot of replayability to the game and there were runs where I deliberately chose a path different from the previous run so that the experience would be unique. Were the graphics the best? No, but they were good enough so I didn't care. The game ran well and played great, so I had no complaints. Final Fight 3 is an awesome entry in the series and I'll always stand by that.
I bought an emulator at a flea market, and found among the games what seemed to be an arcade version of Final Fight 2 - it used credits, not limited continues, and the graphics seemed a step up. Maybe it was a beta-test that never saw arcade release? The system also has the SNES version.
The game was very bland compared to other games like TMNT or Streets of Rage 2. Enemy variety was minimal, enemies had a way too long recouvery time which made combats feel unnecessary long. It felt slower compared to alot of other beatemups at the time. I don't wanna say it was bad but it had way better competitors.
I don't get why this game is so popular. It's very slow, boring and repetitive. You get stuck on the same screen with the same 4 enemies and can't move until they're dead.
And for the record it's not criminally ignored either. It never debuted on anything other than a Nintendo console and it still isn't. I personally want this game to be playable on most consoles through download of course.
I wanted to like this game so much, I bought it a week after it's launch, but it lacked the polish of the previous ones. Still fun, but so easy to beat.
It was the hardware. That's why it didn't catch on. Don't get me wrong, the SNES and Genesis is my favourite era of gaming, but what FF2-3 wanted to do, the SNES just couldn't handle it as well as the game wanted.
I was always a big fan of the Final Fights. I had all 3 games. 2&3 was fun to play with friends. It was the last Beat’em up I ever played on SNES till I got my PlayStation fall of ‘95. I still have 1&2 but must’ve traded 3 in at some point.
I beat it a few years ago on one of those plug and play systems. I wasn't into it back in the day like the original but i can say now its the best game out of the three
Final fight 2 holds a special place in my heart got it for Xmas the year it was released I must’ve best that game like countless times u don’t remember playing part 3 much 👍🏿
Wow. I only tried the game once back in 2002, and was so spoiled by a decade of the 1st installment on the SNES (which I beat my record 3 days ago), that it turned me off. But after this video, I'll definitely be giving it a 2nd chance.
Please do videos on the two D&D beat em ups, the bouncer, urban reign, mortal kombat shaolin monks, scott pilgrim vs the world game, dragon's crown, & mighty morphin power rangers mega battle
FF 3 Deserves a remaster fixing the SNES slowdowns and adding widescreen support and extra content. Maybe it will be done by the community in OPENBOR someday. Very underratee game.
Main issue is that there was a much better Beat'em'up game by then: Streets of Rage 2, with much better combat mechanics and more than 3 enemies on screen and without slowdowns.
I love this game, don’t know about slowdowns only ever played it on emu’s. It really does feel like sf alpha meets final fight. The super moves are awesome, but make the game too easy. The different paths also is awesome. I also love final fight streetwise. I wish we could get edgy games made for men like these final fight games.
It wouldn't be underrated if Final Fight 2 were made as a CPS2 arcade game that's also for the Sega Saturn, with Final Fight 3 as a CPS3 arcade game that's also for the Sega Dreamcast.
While Fight Fight 3 excels over Final Fight 2 (which was really just a reskin of FF1 with no improvements to gameplay whatsoever), I think another reason why it was mostly ignored is because most of what it was bringing was already done in other beat-em-up titles. It took Capcom three installments within the series to actually improve the gameplay while other beat-em-ups (most notably the Streets of Rage series) added gameplay improvements with every installment. So, Final Fight 3 was kinda late to the party, as it incorporated various gameplay improvements that Streets of Rage 3 already had (and it was released over a year and half before FF3 was).
It's combination of SF and FF elements, reverse attack methods, SNES complete sound, secrets, your friend realistically takes damage from you, and the "AI" partner aspect were special. The weaknesses in it: 1. Villains could have been better designed/better in some cases. 2. I thought Dean's moves were too meh. 3. The AI partner play could have been average, that character could have chosen to pick up food items to help itself, and the only AI partner worth anything is Guy. Even then, you have to help it out a lot to make it endure for a while. It will never last nearly until the end...This sub-in character is a dumb novice!
While the OG arcade version of Final Fight always holds a special place in my heart, when it comes to the SNES, I'll always prefer 2 and 3 to the first one largely thanks to the co-op play. I don't understand why Capcom never acknowledges their existence. I think we're overdue for a Final Fight collection featuring Final Fight CD, 2, 3 and Revenge all together in one bundle. No Streetwise required, Capcom can continue to never acknowledge that one ever again.
biggest difference between the 80's and 90's and now was the arcades bing the benchmark, final fight for the brand new super famicom (snes) was the first arcade port in 1991 for home of a major capcom arcade beat em up, they did the same with sf2 on the snes. you had to kinda be there to understand. FF3 was not an arcade port so never had that we can play an arcade game at home love. when FF3 was released 1995 by then you had ps1 n64 etc
Hold on a second. There is an older video about FF3 in which you basically called the game trash. What's up with that? Anyway, I love the graphics and move sets in this one, as well as the CPU-assisted 2 player mode, which, to my knowledge is still pretty unique. Yes, it suffered slow-down, but it was still a cool feature to have. Really the only real problems I have with it is the weak sound design and occasionally crummy animations.
I never called it trash; I simply pointed out that it wasn't widely played, largely because it lacked originality, and by 1995, beat 'em ups were no longer in vogue. These are points that were reiterated in this video. My perspective on topics is always evolving-after all, only incredibly narrow-minded people hold the exact same opinions as they did years ago. That's why I enjoy revisiting subjects every few years to offer a fresh take, with modern editing and more refined scripting. With each passing year, I learn more about content creation, which is why I continue to update my videos on classic games.
Every final fight game has been very great even better than street fighter Being it's true sequel game at the time adaptation in the ability to start changing up fighting games hidden levels in certain requirements to get the true ending to make you work at it could sometimes be tiring and annoying or just plain fun instead of just being straightforward like past alliterations and unfortunately for final fight 2 and 3 I'm listening to was willing to let go of the whole licensing issue the games will never see the day of light outside of Nintendo itself
Final Fight character sprites were too big, the character sprites took up a lot of space/room on the screen. Streets of Rage character sprites were small enough to have a lot more characters on the screen, i think Streets of Rage won this comparison
When the game came out it's too much for casual player but too simple for hardcore player and beat em up genre isn't that popular anymore. This is sad for a good game.
It's good but it's way too easy. Even on hard it's possible to beat it on your first playthrough and that'seven if you stick to normal moves. Which is the other problem, way too many overpowered moves with no penalty. Guy has a Blaze from sor2 style fireball thing that you could just spam forever ad probably do a no hit run on your second playthrough.
if i were to guess, the first final fight for snes had so bad rep for being a watered down and incomplete, most fans of the series went for the genesis or more complete ports and lost all interest in parts 2 and 3 which were snes exclusives

She's basically Capcom answer after seeing SNK poster girl, Mai Shiranui 😁
Maki looks like the blonde version of Mai. 😁
@@milestrombley1466 She ended up being dumber in moves honoring the stereotype

I miss the street fighter cartoon and how it put the whole capcom universe into it. Especially the final fight episode.
Except the writers don’t exactly know the characters that well.
They could have made a spinoff although in my opinion Final Fight should have been more for adults more gritty.
@@Datcyd3 Mega Man never made an appearance.🤷♂️
I remember buying this one, my beard grew in when I was 15 and I hit the slot machines when I went on vacation with my grandmother. Managed to win $75 before security caught on that I was too young and had my grandmother cash in my winnings, bought final fight 3 for $40, loved it
Not for me it wasn’t., arguably the most rented video game by me via blockbusters in the 90s..
For me it wasn't underrated either. Plenty of us were on to Guy. In fact Guy got me into sneakers. I loved his footwear in the artist pictures. Either jordan or chucks. Axel from Crazy Taxi cemented the love.
@@kevincollins8620 yeah in final fight 2 it was Carlos.. but I always preferred the Karate - Ninja characters..
@@chrisconnors9449 same! In streets of rage playing as Shiva was life... although I am all time axel. If there were like a side scrolling beat em up Allstars... Double Dragon, Final Fight, Brawl Brothers, Target Renegade, Fighting Force, Streets of Rage...

Underrated games. TOBAL/Ehgeiz.
Why at 5:40 is a Pulse rifle and Flame unit from Aliens doing in the background haha
That's a great background Easter egg. Nicely spotted ! Also in the very first Samurai Shodown game you can see a Xenomorph in the giant cooking pot in the background of Genan's stage
Final Fight 3 is awesome. The rooftop and background light change different colors. Bosses Dave. Callman. Caine. Wong . Stray. Black.
If there was no Final Fight/Street Fighter ‘89 there would be no Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle!
And there would be no Fighting Force!
@@davidsentanu7836Fighting Force originally was meant to be a sequel to Streets of Rage and a Sega Saturn exclusive, but Sega turned down the offer.
@@gedaman Exactly! Hawk Mason was obviously Axel Stone. You see, Mason... Stone...
IDK...Double Dragon may have something to say about that. I do say if there was no VF, there wouldn't be Tekken though.
@@BobbyLips Nice try but no. Streets of Rage wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for Final Fight. I will give Double Dragon, Double Dragon II and Golden Axe their props.
Final Fight 2 had a lot of depth for this genre. It came out a little too late in the Snes lifespan so it got overlooked but it was great for the branching paths and the diverse moves and combos for each character.
still waiting on final fight 4. yes i know about final fight streetwise
Here in Brazil this game was the real deal back in the 90's/beginning of the 20's. SNES was widely popular (and affordable) so everyone was play FF3, also known as "Briga de rua" (street fighting).
Lucia Morgan did appear in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and does Black looks like a little bit like Bison?
I think street fighter 6 should give Dean a chance, him and Haggar are the only one that haven’t make to the main Game (Street Fighter)
And Carlos, don't forget about Carlos. And I think Hagger was one of Zangief's costumes
@@antiseize11 True, but they been teasing us with that epic battle between Hagger and Zangief for ages. We got a minimum of 5 Ryu on each game, 6 if you count Sagat. They teased a some kind of evil Sagat in SF5 story mode so I do wanna know what’s that about
Street Fighter VI still has DLC coming, so that might happen. Also, Maki, Carlos, and Kyle Travers need to appear in the video game as well.
@@antiseize11Carlos is in the SF6 single player open world. He is a boss there.
@@Edwinschuur Oh yeah, you're right!

I still play the OG Final Fight arcade on my phone. Never bothered with the other Final Fights.
it's too easy, pick guy and spam the SF motion specials and it's a joke
still fun, but the 2 times i've been through will be all
One of my favorite games as a kid. Gotta play this again!!! Thanks for the inspiration
Great content, BIG daddy TOP HAT!
It's a fun game. I got it on sale when they were clearance saling all the SNES games to make room for the next gen.
FF3 also has a great soundtrack. It may not have the FM synths that Yuzo Koshiro brought to the SoR franchise, but it still has that Capcom slap
Those games need a remaster collection! I only played the first game in the Capcom Beat Em-Up Collection.
Bro your channel is amazing!
This game was short in comparison to the previous 2.
I liked this one better than the second game, seriously was slept on
I wanted to like this game so much, I bought it a week after it's launch, but it lacked the polish of the previous ones. Still fun, but so easy to beat.
"Mom, I want streets of rage!"
"We have streets of rage at home!"
It was the hardware. That's why it didn't catch on. Don't get me wrong, the SNES and Genesis is my favourite era of gaming, but what FF2-3 wanted to do, the SNES just couldn't handle it as well as the game wanted.
Watching this gameplay makes me wish I played it back in the day.
This is my favourite FF and I still remember playing it with my brother playing it together... Super all the way!
My favorite in the series. First rented it from Movie Land back in the 90s.
I wasn't into it back in the day like the original but i can say now its the best game out of the three
I would love a remake of the whole series in a more hd pixel style, like TMNT :Shredder's Revenge or something similar.
to me this game is above every streets of rage game out there i wish i had it back in the 90s
Me and my brothers played It! The SNES was on fire! Busting heads all day and all night!
Please do videos on the two D&D beat em ups, the bouncer, urban reign, mortal kombat shaolin monks, scott pilgrim vs the world game, dragon's crown, & mighty morphin power rangers mega battle
I enjoyed Final Fight 3. Well, I remember having a lot of fun with it. I haven't played it in a very long time though.
FF 3 Deserves a remaster fixing the SNES slowdowns and adding widescreen support and extra content.
Maybe it will be done by the community in OPENBOR someday. Very underratee game.
If Lucia's outfit is the standard cops uniform in that city, she can arrest me any time....
Hey I'm legally blind here can you tell me which video you had talking about the final fight game with all characters from other Capcom beatemups
Lucia is the best girl from FF/SF series. That's why Final Fight will always be loved and appreciated.
wasn't the sega saturn already out by this time?
Main issue is that there was a much better Beat'em'up game by then: Streets of Rage 2, with much better combat mechanics and more than 3 enemies on screen and without slowdowns.
Final fight 3 is certainly a hidden gem 💎 one solid game
I love this game, don’t know about slowdowns only ever played it on emu’s. It really does feel like sf alpha meets final fight. The super moves are awesome, but make the game too easy. The different paths also is awesome. I also love final fight streetwise. I wish we could get edgy games made for men like these final fight games.
My only real gripe with Final Fight 3 is the repetitive music. It definitely could have used some more tracks. Oh, and the slowdown.
It wouldn't be underrated if Final Fight 2 were made as a CPS2 arcade game that's also for the Sega Saturn,
with Final Fight 3 as a CPS3 arcade game that's also for the Sega Dreamcast.
😅 Alotta companies was comin out wit *Beatem ups* of there own.
I Remember nobody played "Battle Circuit" and that game was amazin.
I like 1, 3 than 2. Plus 3 had Better music aswell 😂
It was the first and only one I've played. A lot.
Final Fight arcade blows the Snes games away
This is the BEST FF. A true hidden gem.
Carlos is badass. A Hispanic dude with a katana
I was always hoping to see dean come back
How can we play this on PS4?
It needs to be released on modern systems
I... literally didn't know there was a Final Fight 3 on the snes.
4:57 dio is that you....?
Not exactly fair to compare FF3 graphics to the arcade original. The SNES version had quite a pixilated look to it.
What’s the best way to play FF2 and FF3 now?
I really like the third final fight game.
But...but every beat-em-up needs a Tarot Reading Mini-Game!
Final Fight needs a 2024 update with super high defintiion graphics like in SF6
Damn right it deserves respect! Thats why we………respect it
biggest difference between the 80's and 90's and now was the arcades bing the benchmark, final fight for the brand new super famicom (snes) was the first arcade port in 1991 for home of a major capcom arcade beat em up, they did the same with sf2 on the snes. you had to kinda be there to understand. FF3 was not an arcade port so never had that we can play an arcade game at home love. when FF3 was released 1995 by then you had ps1 n64 etc
I hope Capcom makes a new Final Fight game. This year is it's 35 th Anniversary 🎂🎉🎈🥳
I had part 2 and rented pt3 a lot at the rental store. 3 was way better least from character perspective 😊
Dean is my favorite character
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs was peak 2D Beat 'em up any other game after that was just too late 3D was the new standard
Why the SNES games haven’t been rereleased yet is a mystery to me.
When the game came out it's too much for casual player but too simple for hardcore player and beat em up genre isn't that popular anymore. This is sad for a good game.
Cody was a bit more adapt with a blade in number 1
I have it in my collection, I love it
It is a fun game got it on the wiiu and final fight 2 before Nintendo shut off the servers
Great game but too much slowdowns. Streets of Rage II and 3 are far better.
SOR also had better characters to play as. Dean and Lucia were kinda lame and boring.
