As someone who loves Fallen London's vibes but couldn't get into Sunless Sea, is there any kind of mod or setting that makes fuel/rations or whatever go further? I played for about two hours and felt like I was barely able to leave the starting port without having to turn back immediately. There wasn't any time to actually enjoy the spooky vibes
@@TheBananaBox There are plenty of mods on Nexus that would fit that bill. However, I played the game on PS4, so my experience was almost vanilla (almost because I have the Zubmariner dlc). The main thing to understand is that your first captain is essentially a guinea pig. They will die eventually, so use their life to figure out what ports sell what goods. From my personal experiences (and without spoilers), following the coast south will eventually bring you to a fixed place that sells Fuel for a decent price. Going east from there should bring you to ports that sell Supplies for decent prices. At every port, check if they have a store. Try to keep a mental note on prices. Being a merchant is a good way to make money early on. I'd keep my eyes out for Darkdrop Coffee and Sapphire prices. I'd also recommend one of your first purchases be an Avid Suppressor, as it will help you throughout the rest of the game. Early game is a bit of a grind for Echoes, but trust me, you'll eventually get there through trade and story missions. It ain't easy, but my goodness is the game great once you start figuring things out and get enough to buy upgrades. Hope I helped, but if you have more questions, feel free to ask!
The game very close to perfect for the Librarian, complete with comfy safepoints, aquatic horror and the abyssal depths, and creepy fish. Way to go for picking this out, Chris, and thanks man.
Simply love horror games that takes their time to ease you into a seemingly innocent routine before the creepy begins creeping up on you. Allows you to feel the world and get into it!
Thank you for playing this game I've seen little bits of it and love the concept but have been waiting for someone with the right vibe to play it can't wait to watch the rest of the playthrough
As soon as I saw the title, I knew you'd love this game. The descriptive language in this almost brings me back to reading Skulduggery Pleasant for the first time, which is an experience I'll never forget. I love when writers can fit such intricate details into almost any scene, even something meant to be super quick and panicked like a fight scene. This game gives you ample time to soak in the details of whatever you're reading, before throwing you straight back into the situation at hand, whatever that may be. Very excited to see you experience the rest of this game, and keep up the incredible work you do on these videos. And that doesn't just mean cutting them together to make them as succinct and entertaining as they are, but I also love the emphasis you give to each line of text you read. And that comes from someone who hates having to listen to people reading out loud, 99% of the time I'd much rather read at my own pace. The way you read is quick enough to be engaging, but also allows yourself and your viewers the chance to soak in every word. Also, the delivery of that "sir, this is a Wendy's" at 53:57 was fucking amazing.
Hot damn I absolutely love this game! The fish exploration, the characters, and the neat stylized-yet broad art style, I honestly cannot wait for more.
i love dredge, its such an interesting and mysterious game, cosmic horror is some of my favorite horror, and this game was what got me into the TTRPG Call Of Cthulhu
Just an early word of advice, if/when you come across strange hooded figures you can interact with, do not talk to them at all yet. Talking to them starts timed missions that require late game fish and the hooded figures die if you talk to them and don't get them their fish quick enough.
@@Cassius40k Oh that's a relief. I hadn't been keeping up with the game much because I was waiting for Librarian to play it, but it's good to hear they made those quests actually doable now without pre planning.
I'm hyped to see Librarian play this, after this is done I think that Signalis is right up your alley Librarian, retro style survival horror with psychological elements that make you wonder, I heavily recommend it
I've been wanting to play this, or better yet watch someone play it (because I'm a big baby when it comes to nautical horror), but haven't had the time and/or no-one I care about has done a proper full playthrough of it. So I'm particularly happy to see you doing a full series of it, especially as it's PERFECT for you from what I've seen!
I remember I had one episode of that tug boat show on VHS when I was young, I remember the plot being quite distressing, with imminent death for the characters coming from a spilled shipment of logs or something
Great vid, super excited for the series! Try using your foghorn to scare away the birds and also to reach out and check to see if the ships out treading water at night are truly other sailors, or something else.
I'm glad I never played this game because now I can experience it together with my favourite TH-camr. This game looks extremely good and has that creepy and comfy vibe that I love on horror games.

If you found Theodore tugboat a creepy show then I can't recommend the old show "Tugs" highly enough, it was actually produced by the same production crew as Thomas the tank engine back then and production value was absurd and furthermore the spooky episodes are quite chilling for a show about boats. The dozen or so episodes made are all available on youtube restored and in HD.

Know this isn't a Stalker video, but just popped into my mind, remembering your playthrough of one of them. I'd hope you plan on getting to the other Stalker games at some point, and Stalker 2 when it comes out? Also, while the main themes aren't horror or super creepy, the Homeworld series can have creepy and existentially dreadful moments at time, lot of themes of loneliness and unknown threats out among the stars, dealing with the remains of an ancient empire that you don't know much about or what wiped them out and some other things. The soundtracks are pretty solid for those uneasy feelings. Not sure if you'd be interested in it, but it might be worth something. Also just feel like that series doesn't have enough eyes on it, almost feels like a hidden gem with how infrequently I hear it ever brought up. OH! Edit for another thought. Barotrauma. Don't know much about it myself, but from the videos I've seen, it might be right up your alley. It's another aquatic eldritch horror game, but with submarines and having to fight off the horrors you encounter on an alien ocean.

@@thestraycat69 it has spooky monsters yes but the over all theme isn’t creepy. Could just be that I’m not that scared of the ocean or that after you play the game for a while the leviathan’s get less scary.

35:37 if you like that sort of thing you would love a game called subnautica, has the most impressive descriptions and explanations of literally everything in a game I’ve seen, also it’s kind of a horror game but not really.
Disagree Subnatica is a horror game, complete with monsters.
@@thestraycat69 it has spooky monsters yes but the over all theme isn’t creepy. Could just be that I’m not that scared of the ocean or that after you play the game for a while the leviathan’s get less scary.
