The story is that basically you and your wife are fishermen. You take the old mayor and some others on a fishing trip, and you dredge up the book. The weird Cthulhu thing you see in the bad end follows you back, kills your wife, sinks your boat, and makes everyone go crazy. You study the book and find a way to bring your wife back. You need 5 items from your past (the 5 relics). So that’s what you’re here to do. But the guilt overcomes you and you split your personality in half, into the one you play as, and the collector. In the end, you either bring your wife back (while summoning Cthulhu), or you throw everything back and get eaten by the leviathan, which is the giant fish who is also the ancient protector and arch enemy of the eldritch monster.

The foghorn echo is scary because it's not a natural echo, it's the fog repeating it back at you, hence the name. The Lighthouse Keeper has some interesting things to say if you ask her about the fog (her dialogue changes after every relic brought to Blackstone Isle). On a lighter note, given the relics are being supernaturally inflated in size and complexity by your perception - this is stated with the key's description and shown pretty extensively with the music box's, when giving those two to the collector - I find the imagery really funny of the fisherman just placing it in the middle of the hold and then leaving this giant open space around it, the size of several fish, for these small, pocket-sized items.
Its nice that the elderly characters are always the ones saying story things, seeing as how lovecraftian this game is and how in a load of lovecraft's stories the elderly characters tend to spout exposition
And that one map guy in innsmouth acting like a literal shop npc. I do love knowing that lovecraft would be rolling in his grave since so many stories based off his mythos have bipoc people and are used to explore themes he would definitely be on the wrong side of
The game hints that the Collector isn't actually someone else from the start of the game. When you first meet him, it claims that he is looking at you from INSIDE your boat as you leave the Fishmonger, but it's your own reflection in the boat window. While talking to him, what looks like a doorframe is just the frame of a mirror. If you go through the bad ending, when the Collector joins you, he doesn't take up space on your boat unlike any other NPC.

Okay I know this comment is old and you probably don't care anymore but here's my take on it. We're playing as a man who has no memory of his past or even why he's come to the marrows, based on whichever ending you go with, he just does whatever he's asked for without ever questioning anything. One of the few times i wish switch had achievements, but i still did all quests/fish/items/endings in several playthroughs. I just heard about the update+dlc and will gladly go back for more ❤
That giant angler fish didnt randomly atack you like others, it pretends to be a boat and the closer you get the clearer it is that its not a boat. The way to recognise it is by honking your boat. If it sounds ghostly and unnatural then its the fish. Also it will try and approach you and honk when it aggroes on you which makes it easier to spot. Luckily its not that fast so with some good engines you can run away from it. Also you have been advancing the story way to quickly. When u finished the gale cliffs you should have already gotten the first hull upgrade and getting closer to the second for the next area. You were going way too quickly. Also i suggest you dont aim for the tiny engine and head for the others since in the end its more worth it since you will have space for them all. Yes i did play dredge and yes i did finish it you cant tell me im making stuff up. Well you can but it wont be right.
Oh i forgot to mention those little 1 space engines arent that worth it since you can just get the larger ones which in the end give you more speed than the small ones, you should use them when you got 1 slot open and the rest occupied.
I like having nothing but the little one slot engines because you can have like 10 of them, which equals the same (or greater?) speed than the large one, and if you do get hit it doesn’t disable all the speed, only one. I have over 100 hours in game and have 100% it (best as I can tell on Switch at least, I’m sure I missed a letter or two) several times now.
Not sure why you decided to go to Devil's Spine first, when the Collector tells you to go to Twisted Strand next and the game places a giant red X on the map to tell you "GO THERE NOW".
I thought it was kinda cool when there wasn't a map at the start of the game so every time I found a new area I was so excited cuz there was more gameplay lol
eh its part of the experience of wandering around. the storyline guides you linearly in a way that makes sense so you have the right equipment for each area, but part of the fun of a game where you can sail around the whole map from the start is seeing those areas even if you’re not “meant” to be there yet. i’d picked up pretty much every side-mission before finishing the story cause i wasn’t all too scared about sailing in the dark and the map was just so cool and expansive. also, to be fair it seems like he wasn’t reading things SUPER closely given he blamed multiple deaths on hitting rocks when you can see in the footage it’s because he used Haste and overheated lmao.

Listen man, now is not the time to be twerking.
DUDE!!! This is the content I've been looking for!!!! 100% runs are the BEST!!!😍😍😍
Love the use of the occasional VA-11 Hall-A track, and an all around great video!
"passively watching this video" he says as i agressively wait loading into a game xDD That level of ironic confidence right there is why i sub
21:02 “I NEED to find a tiger mackerel.”
13:25 Does He Know?
39:26 sir, what are you doin
39:50 ok a person
40:01 who that
42:41 ok surely this time it’ll work
42:49 Um what that
42:55 ok
8:24 you just went over on haste both times if u go over it disables your engine and if u go over again it sink’s your ship
Three minutes into the video, I stopped so I could buy the game and 100% it myself. 3 days later and 20hrs in game, I 100%'d the original game and dlc, and now I can finally finish the video. What a fun, relaxing game.
Yo you should play Dave the diver, I saw another guy play it but it was more of just the speedrun playthrough rather than comedy, and I think it would be pretty cool to see you play it 👍
Funny how since this there is a new dlc and free update to give you more fish to get
gonna backseat game a moment but it pained me every time you used haste too much and sank yourself and you blamed it on rocks or cliffs. But hey, the actual video was excellent, great editing!
this! lol probably why it took 60 hours
I love that you made this video and I appreciate your effort. I finished this game a few weeks ago and it was fun to watch . Thanks
This is the first video of yours I've seen! Definitely subscribing, love your video editing style and commentary, I have become so invested in this fishing game
(spoiler) Me and my mom and sister started playing this game a while ago with me and my sister on different save files. We loved playing this game with its creepy eldritch horror, secrets, and symbolism. When me and my sister did both different endings we felt so good thinking after unlocking all animals we would have 100%ed the game but watching this I now see many many new creatures that attack, mechanics, and scenes
11/10 game
i have never comprehended a single waligug video but i have to scroll so hard to find one i havent watched. keep going
A 60-hour dredging session? It’s gotta start hurting at some point. Longest I’ve ever dredged at once was like 3-hours, props for lasting that long.
I like how you used terraria background music. Was the highlight of this video
Your storytelling and editing are amazing 😂
I LOVE the Terraria background music 😂😂
doesn't crash into cliffs, "cliffs took me out" (fails to realize he used the speed boost to much causing self damage) XD
Is it just me or did i hear diffrent terraria songs like the jungle theme and daytime overworld or night time overworld while watching this.
I just got this game yesterday, and I already love it. I am at the Stellar Basin right now and am planning to head to the Twisted Strand.
I also plan on doing a 100% completion run, but mine will have a twist. I downloaded the Pale Reach DLC, which adds new fish, new pursuits, a new hooded figure, and new achievements.
If you have the time, maybe you can take on this DLC as well.
10:46 that's a spurm whale fighting a colossal squid
Bro this guy should 100% cult of the lamb.
i saw this game go free on EG and figured its just a chill little fishing game, now that i see its like a horror/lovecraftian(?) type game i think i might enjoy it a ton
35:24
You're a Sorority Noise fan? My friggin guy, new favorite TH-camr by far, love your content man.
Ayo gug is popping off with the videos
Didn’t think I’d see Hatsune Ranboo in this video but ok!
(32:02 for those who are curious)
I haven’t played since the dlc came out but I 100%ed this game in 12 hours did u leave it running for like 2 days straight for funzies? Lol
depends on in-game luck and how many times you get shipwrecked ig haha. like i started playing cult of the lamb and finished the bosses within 70 in-game days but i've seen people do 100 days for the game, and struggle a bit w the bosses :P
This vid is awesome, such a great game and the editing was cool too 😎
The fog is coming, Waligug.
This game is such a Piece of Art. A Masterpiece of gameplay...... Love it.......
This is a fantastic game 10/10 recommend if you have a spare 20 bux. Very laid back and a great pickup and play
"Extremely tedois navigation on this swamp" Nah bro you're capping you're probable having hella fun drifting around 💀
Your editing style in this video is a lot like Isaacwhy and I love it!
your so chill bro your under rated fr you earned a subscriber
Good choice with the Terraria bgm.
21:57 Uh hold on, dolphins are the evil ones! And just in case you think I'm kidding, I'm not.
First video I've watched of you and im subscribing. I don't know why but the little pepe images just do it for me
As a veteran dredge player for a couple years I can say that in the beginning is how I played
10:48 i love how he mentions the giant squid saying hi, but fails to notice the sperm whale absolutely bodying it instants latet
60?????? da helll does the dlc add 48 hours of content ?
Good game, good game indeed.
This guy's 100% videos goes hard
I'm happy to hear the A Hat In Time soundtrack on the background! Yay!
It's about time you play this amazing game I've waited so long my man
The only thing I saw on Grieving Fathers dialogue was "Throw it back". I'm sure a father who lost a lot ain't gonna... Throw it back.
Hey fun fact! those rocks at night that appear out of nowhere as you get closer to them, that's not your light getting on them!
*that's them appearing out of thin air as you slowly lose your mind, they're not even there.*
you can tell this, by coming back to the same spot when it's daytime
That's the most deaths I've seen in the first few hours of a person playing this game lmao
This was so entertaining and relaxing to watch🫶
oh yes yes yes i absolutely adore dredge and haven’t seen anyone play it yet., i finished it a couple months ago after returning to it and playing on easy mode .. but like ITS SUCH a cool game, and i love you, i love the game, i love this video
46:11
For some reason my computer freezed for a moment after you have said:
"You know what that means-". Which spooked me for little bit.
8:22 Hes like "Oh no i broke down cause i hit rocks" while he just holds down the burner
it took me about 35 hours to 100% I think? of which a good 15 were trying to get the open ocean fish. those ones are so fucked idk who the hell thought it was ever a good idea to put fish there but if I ever meet them we’re throwing hands
I have watched many youtubers play this game and I have to say that I find yours is the best 👌
Something about having to spam throw it back made me laugh too much 🤣😭
bro how. it took me 30 hours and i’m really bad at gaming. i mean i’ve played it for a lot longer now bc it’s just fun, but???? bro???? you’re so much better than me at video games, how???
Same, like no hate, but I’m awful at games but it took me 15 hours
@@elbottiothe worst part is that i know the guy’s so much better than me.
@@jessehunter362 exactly
60 hours? Bro it took me 18, regardless VERY fun game, I like your play through.
18 to complete, or 18 to 100%?
