Here's a spooky story my old band teacher told me for ya Librarian: "one day you're checking your old photos on your phone, yknow, deleting ones you dont like or favoriting others; when suddenly you stumble across a photo of you, sleeping. You never took this photo and you live alone." love the video!
This is definitely one of those "slapstick horror" games like Voices of the Void where it can legitimately be scary, but the scares are often built on the back of some very silly humor.
Some tips for making your car look pretty You can find wire brushes to get rid of rust on the worst parts Then use the sponges to tidy up the parts And last you can find orange spray bottles that can polish the parts You can also find various paint cans to change part colors Also the yellow number on your odometer is a decimal point, you've only actually driven 110 kilometers
and with the odometer saying that he has only driven 110km the distance is pretty much scaled realistically knowing that he averaged about 100kmh to 150kmh with having a hour on the road along with some time outside of the road
Tips: -Tab is to equip and unequip items -Bus has a green switch under the front bumper that opens the doors, you gotta crouch to see. -Rust and decay indicates how damaged and object is and can be undone with a wire brush. - in addition paint, sponge, and spray polish can be used to improve the look of the car, spray takes 4ish sprays to improve - the tower that you found first can be entered you just have to jump and crouch at the same time, and inside is a large water source you can fill containers with. -put ammo into inventory and equip gun into other slot to reload it That’s all I can think of to the point where I’ve watched this far
i love how he spent the first 10 minutes of the video checking out the house and cleaning it, packing up stuff while me and my friend would just take the giraafe put in the hood pray to god we find a 20 liter fuel canister and then just drive

I'm glad you're playing this through the lens of appreciating the ambience and the trip. Most youtubers that I watch playing this always does the "le wacky road trip ecksdee" that doesn't do the atmosphere and isolation this game gives any justice.
This is the most endearing and immersive approach to TLD that I have seen. A completely fresh experience. There have obviously been no prior spoilers to give away what to expect. No overly silly/ridiculous shenanigans/stunts presented. Just a wholesome, realistic approach - as if he's actually been put into this situation: a protagonist setting off on his way to visit his mother, in a mysterious post-apocalyptic setting. Your comments remind me of my thoughts when I first played it. I truly love this. Favourite TLD playthrough I've seen in a long time! I really do hope you continue this series 🙏🏻 I would follow every episode. [I've been watching another YT'ers playthrough of this for years now. Driving all the way back and forth, each time; escalating the challenge. But this is refreshing. It's also a great game to play and record while you just let your thoughts wonder. Not many games provide a space for that. PS: BTW, yes, the mechanics, controls and physics can be extremely wonky here - but that is sort of the charm of the game. Hope that's not putting you off it completely. It all becomes second nature after a few try's. The encounters with scary bunnies (and other things) as well. More often than not, they just run into a wall and die getting stuck in it, though... 😛 PPS: Don't be afraid to experiment And try out various things. There are a lot of surprises ("puzzles") the developers left in to see if we can figure out.
i just love the games that are said to be kinda boring, cause the librarian just start to talk about all kinds of things and its so nice to drift off to.
just a heads up, the sound at 1:47:09 what sounded like some sort of screeching or whining is actually just your cars transmission when in reverse. It's normal to hear that on almost every transmission that has been produced in like the last, idk, 60-70 years? This happens because ussually the reverse gear is a "straight cut" gear, therefor it doesn't absorb sound quite well, your forward gears arent doing that because they are most likely helical gears. This method of building the transmion is purely to lower production cost.
I remember seeing this game a while back. I never bought this game, however I always have wanted to for the way it presents itself as a mix of a survival game and mechanic simulator. For me, It has also had this perfectly eerie atmosphere that really sets it apart from a lot of other games.
Please, please, please make more ! I really like watching people playing this game, making up their own theories and sharing their experience. It feels so cozy. But to be real nobody do it quite like you it's almost like we're on a real roadtrip with you !

Well, I certainly want to watch a new episode of this game and hear the soothing voice of The Librarian making a commentary on the environment and atmosphere while encountering weird stuffs on the way.
This was pretty funny. I appreciate thst he appreciated all the small details. He said he doesn’t drive so calling the sun visors flappy things and fuel gauge as fuel monitor was fun to see.
Hey librarian, to your point of taking a train out west... A few weeks ago I took Amtrak from my home in Chicago to Seattle. Myself and two family members wanted to hike Olympic National Park. The trip took about two full days and though it was certainly a novel experience I don't regret doing, it's not something I would likely do again. Something about being cooped up in a can for two days with no shower or bed eating really poor food just makes you miserable. I even stayed off my phone almost the whole time and looked out the windows. Still got off that train feeling like garbage Though, there was something romantic about traveling America the old fashioned way. You were also quite a lot closer to the environment and got to see parts of the US that otherwise you would never see. There were some incredible landscapes and views that you would never get from the road, and the people were also lovely to get to know only if for a few hours. I say have at it, but know what you are getting yourself into.
1:31:14 even if the roan ***IS*** infinite, it could be a straight line. you might cross over it, and then forget which way is which, and lose sight of it forever.
this reminds me of a really weird SCP I read about an inescapable one way road that has a ton of people inside it but all of them settled down in these roadside houses created just for them. I always thought it was a terrifying concept to be trapped forever on an unending road, with the only person to escape dying of a heart attack after a mysterious knock on his window and a "that's so beautiful moment" but people seemed to think it was a good think, despite the side tangent about the woman sending a message to the kids she hasn't seen for ten years. But y'know seeing how much people love this game, which is pretty similar in my eyes, I kinda get it now, though I'd still hate to be trapped in it I can understand why people had a more positive view on the idea and the atmosphere that the story conveyed
1:46:00 This is why you always make sure to close the oil cap on your engine. As your car was rolling, the oil was leaking out. However, it is mighty impressive that you actually managed to drink some of said oil, well done. It might spoil the fun a little, but at some point you should try dissassembling a car as much as possible, just to get a feel for what parts are removable, replacable and upgradable. But not knowing how deep a game is can often be a driving point to keep you interested in the game, so you might not want to do this immediately.
This would be such a great series!! This was genuinely one of the most comforting yet thrilling two hours of TH-cam I have ever watched! 58:20 the "Battery" indicator actually indicates that the Battery isnt receiving charge which means the battery is slowly running out of charge trying to keep the engine from stalling
It's weird because there's so much jank but then there's also little gems of impressive physics like the way the bat realistically swings and sways with the motion of the car

i have tips -the radios have sooooooooo many channels for you to switch through on the fm side -they have a gradient in clearness so you were on the edge of a radio station, they get a lot clearer as you get to the exact frequency -my favorite being fm 94.1 steel pants radio -there is also an am side which has 4 stations i think 630, 800, 1080 (custom radio), and 1330 -630 being the exact same radio station as steel pants radio except without any songs with words or steel pants radio news or anything else - *your doors dont match* - *stop leavings your gas cap and other containers open* you can hear them pouring their contents when you tipped over -ufo turns off all electricity powered stuffs - "the apocalypse happened in 1979 as you know" -there is a light behind your seat in your current car, interact with it to switch it between 'off', 'on when door open' and 'on' -they can be in different places depending on the car -rabbits *will* murder you (unless peaceful) -the guys that are like zombies will not spawn in peaceful -your radiator wasn't as good quality as it could be because it was a little rusty, if you start another save i recommend checking the radiator (unless VW bug or two stroke car) - *some cars require oil in the gas tank at ~3%* -they have no oil tank -the small amount of oil in your 100% gas doesn't really do much of anything to your car's performance i think (just tints the exhaust blue) -the bus, ifa w50 (which you didnt find) vw caddy, and sometimes vw golf's engines run on diesel -you can tell the difference between the diesel golf engine and gas engine by seeing if there is one of those round air filters; yes=gas, no=diesel -the bus engine is massive -planes are indeed still in the sky -the fastest engine is the Plymouth v8 thingy and it has two oval gray things and the sides are yellow -the vw cars have -there is in fact a mod that makes every one of those distance meters continue from the first car (I don't know if the crate pieces disappear in the base game, if so that also happens in the better crates mod, which also has a secret red ufo which takes parts off your car) -you can make your car look better by using the rust brush (for rust), jizz-o-nit car polish (for shining white rust or rough paint) and the sponge (just rough paint I think) -don't use brushes on tires, clean parts, and sun visors -if you crash hard enough you will end up with blood on the dash, you can clean that with a sponge -also *there is no battery drainage system* in the game right now, so feel free to leave the lights on. -wheels can not go on your car when the hubcaps are on just so you know -baskets can be attached to your car and those things can be used for storage due to the fact they have physics lock -I highly suggest that you turn on *whole interior+* for physics lock in the settings if you haven't already -mirages don't exist im sure -that would be cool though -the *strange* lights in the sky are ufos, but there are only green ufos in the base game -you can shoot yourself - *the bb gun needs to be reloaded by:* THE AMMO NEEDS TO BE IN INVENTORY -1 *holding R* -2 *moving mouse down* -3 *pressing r* -4 *now close the gun by reversing step 2* -5 *pow* -the shotgun and revolver can be reloaded the same way -the ak on the other hand needs a mag - *don't forget to check the oil tank every once in a while* -some cars have a removable grill with integrated headlights -headlights can be removed and placed into the gauge spot and work -gauges can be removed and placed into the headlight spot and work - *once i found 8 wh0le people worth of blood in a barrel*\ -the desert rocks have nothing -you found a water tower and didn't jump into the hole - *you can basically fly by spamming jump against a wall* - *you can ride ufos* -you can also change your character in the settings menu - *THE SQUARE FLASH LIGHTS CAN BE USED AS HAND HELD FLASH LIGHTS*
that clicking and tinking noise you heard was your vehicle's engine cooling down. Your car can overheat, especially in the desert. You can also take parts off of vehicles and put them into your own, including the engine. You can even take off the instruments panel and put it into a different vehicle if you want to keep your "miles/kilometers traveled" in tact.

This would be such a cool series, The Librarian is the only guy I've watched play who takes it semi seriously and I really enjoy that
Here's a spooky story my old band teacher told me for ya Librarian:
"one day you're checking your old photos on your phone, yknow, deleting ones you dont like or favoriting others; when suddenly you stumble across a photo of you, sleeping. You never took this photo and you live alone."
love the video!
I love this game. it's jank gives it a comedic charm when you're with others, and a slight cursed feeling when you're alone.
4:07
"okay we're gonna get out of the basement of demonitization" LMAO
This is definitely one of those "slapstick horror" games like Voices of the Void where it can legitimately be scary, but the scares are often built on the back of some very silly humor.
Some tips for making your car look pretty
You can find wire brushes to get rid of rust on the worst parts
Then use the sponges to tidy up the parts
And last you can find orange spray bottles that can polish the parts
You can also find various paint cans to change part colors
Also the yellow number on your odometer is a decimal point, you've only actually driven 110 kilometers
Very nice tips
and with the odometer saying that he has only driven 110km the distance is pretty much scaled realistically knowing that he averaged about 100kmh to 150kmh with having a hour on the road along with some time outside of the road
1:23:50 Might be the greatest timed thing I've seen in a LONG while.
I love this channel's content so much lmao.
please make this a series. I would love to see more of you just driving and talking. it's so relaxing and calming.
🙏
Tips:
-Tab is to equip and unequip items
-Bus has a green switch under the front bumper that opens the doors, you gotta crouch to see.
-Rust and decay indicates how damaged and object is and can be undone with a wire brush.
- in addition paint, sponge, and spray polish can be used to improve the look of the car, spray takes 4ish sprays to improve
- the tower that you found first can be entered you just have to jump and crouch at the same time, and inside is a large water source you can fill containers with.
-put ammo into inventory and equip gun into other slot to reload it
That’s all I can think of to the point where I’ve watched this far
The only thing that can't be fixed with wire brushes or sponges are engines and radiators!
this man with no driver's license is somehow better at driving than all of the youtubers I've ever seen play this game
thats true tbh

There's nothing better than laying down under a warm thick blanket in your cold room watching a guy with a soothing voice play a very comfy game. It's even better when you have something to eat or snack on.

Jep, this seems to be set in Europe, despite the landscape looking american.
Each Librarian video is such an adventure to watch. He is the only TH-camr that I know who is able to do that.
True
PPS: Don't be afraid to experiment And try out various things. There are a lot of surprises ("puzzles") the developers left in to see if we can figure out.
i just love the games that are said to be kinda boring, cause the librarian just start to talk about all kinds of things and its so nice to drift off to.
Exactly. Like Viscera Cleanup Detail.
@@Sam-go3mb indeed!
just a heads up, the sound at 1:47:09 what sounded like some sort of screeching or whining is actually just your cars transmission when in reverse.
That's actually super interesting
13:40 and that kids is exactly how our wrists looked when we used to roll down windows like that. 🙌
I remember seeing this game a while back. I never bought this game, however I always have wanted to for the way it presents itself as a mix of a survival game and mechanic simulator. For me, It has also had this perfectly eerie atmosphere that really sets it apart from a lot of other games.
I’ve been waiting so long (patiently, of course) for The Librarian to play this! 🥳
I'm so glad you get to see something you've been wanting for so long! :)
@@klpaahme too :D
Honestly, This, Minecraft and Voices Of The Void are so perfect for you, You add so much to these open ended games
Please, please, please make more !
I really like watching people playing this game, making up their own theories and sharing their experience. It feels so cozy. But to be real nobody do it quite like you it's almost like we're on a real roadtrip with you !
I remember Tear of Grace losing his mind over this game. Can’t wait to see him get randomly jumpscared by a rabbit.
I would check the fluid caps under your hood, when you went sideways there towards the end you were definitely drinking something that was spilling out of the engine compartment😂 I could definitely watch more of this!
i discovered your channel from the first episode of Minecraft From the Fog, i remember it so clearly. Ever since then your videos have brought me lots of hapiness and coziness. Thank you Librarian.
Also I don't think i'm alone when i say that it'd be nice with some more minecraft videos, especially long ones!
Excited to watch you play this. I've seen a couple streamers play it but it's always a chaotic, goofy mess with them. The vibe for your video, and hopefully series, is way different and refreshing.
We need a part 2 and 3 and 4 of this. So cozy and eerie, feels so natural
I would love at least a couple more episodes of this.
Well, I certainly want to watch a new episode of this game and hear the soothing voice of The Librarian making a commentary on the environment and atmosphere while encountering weird stuffs on the way.
33:37 That’s so creepy; I had no idea there were other humans in the game.
"making a story with unrelated songs"
Why is that so relatable 😭
This was pretty funny.
I appreciate thst he appreciated all the small details.
He said he doesn’t drive so calling the sun visors flappy things and fuel gauge as fuel monitor was fun to see.
Finally i get to watch this being played like its a gmod map tour and not like a Vinesauce Joel highlights reel.
What's wrong with Joel highlight reels?

Hey librarian, to your point of taking a train out west...
A few weeks ago I took Amtrak from my home in Chicago to Seattle. Myself and two family members wanted to hike Olympic National Park. The trip took about two full days and though it was certainly a novel experience I don't regret doing, it's not something I would likely do again.
Something about being cooped up in a can for two days with no shower or bed eating really poor food just makes you miserable. I even stayed off my phone almost the whole time and looked out the windows. Still got off that train feeling like garbage
Though, there was something romantic about traveling America the old fashioned way. You were also quite a lot closer to the environment and got to see parts of the US that otherwise you would never see. There were some incredible landscapes and views that you would never get from the road, and the people were also lovely to get to know only if for a few hours.
I say have at it, but know what you are getting yourself into.
I wasn't expecting the vampire murdering samurai cowboy. Things escalated very quickly.
Do you remember the SCP's number?
@@voronazavr SCP 5322 I think

You’re honestly great at accomplishing both of those things in all of your videos, but it synergies perfectly with this game and I love it so much.
If you read this, keep up the good work! You’re amongst my favorite content creators period. It’s a delight watching a video from you :3.
Would love to see more, there aren’t enough creepy driving games on the market, so seeing the Librarian + Creepy Driving Game Genre combo was definitely a treat
Where has this channel been my whole life. Happy I am here now. Great video thank you
Used to watch Charborg play this what a crazy ride. I'm so happy you decided to play this
I was actually so invested in this lol.. I was SO happy hearing that the save was well.. saved! When you saw the road lights i was so relieved.. I would LOVE if this was a series. I love the tipics you talk about and the way you word your thoughts so another episode like like this but you also have topics to talk about would be great! Keep up the good work! =]
Thank you, thank you, thank you for finally doing a video on this game. It is so close to my heart, even though it is a silly car game. The vibes are indescribable and mysterious, perfect for your channel.
Ive been waiting for this!!!! This game is honestly creepy and scary sometimes, amazing game
never expected you to play this game. a welcome surprise. it definitely has its weird liminal moments where you cant even tell if your moving anymore. this game weird really works to give you that highway hypnosis. a quirky, fun game for sure.
25:30- "What is that ticking?"
That's the sound of oil dripping back down into the oil pan. (There are similar sounds made when a hot engine cools off.)
"The wilderness is so majestic" he says when shitting and pissing in it.
The long drive is my favorite game of all time, but every dang youtuber that plays it just memes on it. Thanks so much for playing it with your unique perspective.
I love that you got spooked by the whine of the reverse gear :D
Oh boy this game is something else. Iv played this game on my own and with friends, needs a lot more work, but I’m very excited to see where this game goes. Hope you enjoy your time with it
I just love the variety of games you play bro, you make every games creepy idk why haha
22:02 hearing him pretend to bite food is something i didn’t think i would enjoy lmfao
Oh sweet lord above, how often I prayed for you to play this game was insurmountable!!
So happy I'm finally able to see your reaction to this strange yet interesting game.
Hey a HUGE FYI, don't save and quit near buildings/structures, ALWAYS be a decent ways away from any, saves tend to corrupt with messing up the terrain and clipping vehicles off the map if you do so in my experience
Haven't started watching this yet but omg I'm so surprised but happy to see you play this game! It's a classical favourite of mine!
Finding out through this video that I’m not the only one who doesn’t know how to drive as an adult is so relieving 😂 librarian we’re in the same club for now
I know I already commented on this video, But it really is great. You recognize the beauty In the situation, Add to the atmosphere so much. This is just great man
American Truck Simulator, Viscera Cleanup Detail, Voices of the Void... We need more Librarian game of just... Him, work, and an endless series of rambles and spooks. Demanding a 50 part series on this!
Please play more of this! I love how exploratory this horror is! The screaming giant hares are really unnerving.
I didn't think you'd ever check out this game but here we are! I've been playing this game for a looong time and I love how contemplative it can be
i have tips
-the radios have sooooooooo many channels for you to switch through on the fm side
-they have a gradient in clearness so you were on the edge of a radio station, they get a lot clearer as you get to the exact frequency
-my favorite being fm 94.1 steel pants radio
-there is also an am side which has 4 stations i think 630, 800, 1080 (custom radio), and 1330
-630 being the exact same radio station as steel pants radio except without any songs with words or steel pants radio news or anything else
- *your doors dont match*
- *stop leavings your gas cap and other containers open* you can hear them pouring their contents when you tipped over
-ufo turns off all electricity powered stuffs
- "the apocalypse happened in 1979 as you know"
-there is a light behind your seat in your current car, interact with it to switch it between 'off', 'on when door open' and 'on'
-they can be in different places depending on the car
-rabbits *will* murder you (unless peaceful)
-the guys that are like zombies will not spawn in peaceful
-your radiator wasn't as good quality as it could be because it was a little rusty, if you start another save i recommend checking the radiator (unless VW bug or two stroke car)
- *some cars require oil in the gas tank at ~3%*
-they have no oil tank
-the small amount of oil in your 100% gas doesn't really do much of anything to your car's performance i think (just tints the exhaust blue)
-the bus, ifa w50 (which you didnt find) vw caddy, and sometimes vw golf's engines run on diesel
-you can tell the difference between the diesel golf engine and gas engine by seeing if there is one of those round air filters; yes=gas, no=diesel
-the bus engine is massive
-planes are indeed still in the sky
-the fastest engine is the Plymouth v8 thingy and it has two oval gray things and the sides are yellow
-the vw cars have
-there is in fact a mod that makes every one of those distance meters continue from the first car (I don't know if the crate pieces disappear in the base game, if so that also happens in the better crates mod, which also has a secret red ufo which takes parts off your car)
-you can make your car look better by using the rust brush (for rust), jizz-o-nit car polish (for shining white rust or rough paint) and the sponge (just rough paint I think)
-don't use brushes on tires, clean parts, and sun visors
-if you crash hard enough you will end up with blood on the dash, you can clean that with a sponge
-also *there is no battery drainage system* in the game right now, so feel free to leave the lights on.
-wheels can not go on your car when the hubcaps are on just so you know
-baskets can be attached to your car and those things can be used for storage due to the fact they have physics lock
-I highly suggest that you turn on *whole interior+* for physics lock in the settings if you haven't already
-mirages don't exist im sure
-that would be cool though
-the *strange* lights in the sky are ufos, but there are only green ufos in the base game
-you can shoot yourself
- *the bb gun needs to be reloaded by:*
THE AMMO NEEDS TO BE IN INVENTORY
-1 *holding R*
-2 *moving mouse down*
-3 *pressing r*
-4 *now close the gun by reversing step 2*
-5 *pow*
-the shotgun and revolver can be reloaded the same way
-the ak on the other hand needs a mag
- *don't forget to check the oil tank every once in a while*
-some cars have a removable grill with integrated headlights
-headlights can be removed and placed into the gauge spot and work
-gauges can be removed and placed into the headlight spot and work
- *once i found 8 wh0le people worth of blood in a barrel*\
-the desert rocks have nothing
-you found a water tower and didn't jump into the hole
- *you can basically fly by spamming jump against a wall*
- *you can ride ufos*
-you can also change your character in the settings menu
- *THE SQUARE FLASH LIGHTS CAN BE USED AS HAND HELD FLASH LIGHTS*
that clicking and tinking noise you heard was your vehicle's engine cooling down. Your car can overheat, especially in the desert.
You can also take parts off of vehicles and put them into your own, including the engine. You can even take off the instruments panel and put it into a different vehicle if you want to keep your "miles/kilometers traveled" in tact.
I have a coupe (2 door car) partly because I'm afraid of others being in or having access to my back seat so I totally feel you haha

The Aurora Wager and Far: Lone Sails are kinda similar mechanically, though they have kinda different atmospheres
Aurora Wager has you pilot/manage a large hot air balloon, and Far: Lone Sails has you pilot/manage a futuristic looking... thing.
1:23:57 - The coincidental timing is insane.
1:47:16 Bro that was just your reverse gear noise 😂

Never thought i would find someone that did a normal playthrough of this game. Its nice but at the same time it feels wierd having seen all the other videos on The Long Drive. Keep up the good work!
The video is calm, your voice is soothing, and your gameplay is decent. This is art.
This does just look like a perfect game for a calm live stream just to talk about life
OMG I'm so excited you've done a video on TLD!! I've had this game for over 2 years now and I love it! :)
I'm super excited to see you play this (was kinda hoping you would play this at some point.) It's nice to see someone take a slower approach to this game rather than messing it up with cursed mods and such.
A game I really think you should try though would be OneShot. It's a super atmospheric puzzle/adventure game built in RPG maker (I think) with a fairly heavy focus on 4th wall breaks.
I’ve been waiting for you to play the long drive. I don’t have a pc so I watch you play stuff instead keep up the good work😊😊 have a good rest of your day.
I love this new series, please continue it!
You have such a comforting voice. I've been falling asleep to your stuff the past few weeks (I mean that in the least offensive way possible).
i love this game even though i can't play it ,
just the fact that it's basically you making your own story and playing your own game, letting you sink into the delusions and thoughts you have while just driving
I'd love to see you play more
I think the Librarian would love to play My Summer Car, especially with those... nights.
Looooove that game!
I watched Hell House LLC because of your visera clean up detail video and really enjoyed it. I would love another The Long Drive video with you talking about more of your favorite horror media
I would love a series on this, the game is about 5000km long and your odometer isn't at 1000km at the end of the video it's at 100km and the yellow numbers are increments of 100m. love the vids :)
back in May I took a road trip in my little civic across the country. took a week off work and just went for it. got as far as new Mexico - had a friend I wanted to visit there. Definitely a drastic change from south Georgia.
The drive was such a fun experience, it feels so freeing to just *go* as far as i want with only my fuel tank as my limit.
