While side by side, you can see the difference. I can see some "jello" effects in the Inspire video.
The Air 2 is the one I would buy. You can always correct the color in post.

    • @irpnet
      @irpnet 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

He's right. For some inexplicable reason there is jello aplenty on the Inspire shots. I know it was fairly bright out, as can be seen by the lack of cloud, but the Air 2 seemed okay. The Inspire image also looked fuzzy, slightly out of focus. Thee depth of view/field also seems better on the Air 2. Are you sure you didn't accidentally switch the footage? Consiering the Inspire costs considerably more than the Air 2, I'd expect the image quality to be amazing! For me, based on what I've just seen, Air 2 it is.

When I purchase a drone I want the best image for the price point. The MA2 exceeds that requirement for me. While the Inspire 2 is cool looking and has a longer battery life it is not worth the different in price.

  • @scheimong

The benefits of a larger drone are things like better weather resistance, faster speed, better reliability, more flexible payload, and of course a more professional look. The thing is, average consumers do not care about these features. If you do, you are probably already in the professional category. So it's unfair for either of these drones to say definitively which one is better. Just get the right tool for the job.

In a lot of those shots it was really hard to tell the difference. I really love my MA2! The only quarms I have are some issues with the software (hopefully this will be addressed when the Mavic 3 is released and the MA2 is no longer such a threat to sales of the Mavic 2) and the fact that this drone is consuming all of my spare time.

The inspire is a peice of art, the colours on the inspire camera, imo, were far more life like, the Mavic air 2. Is very capable, very impressed with a Drone costing less than £1.000 in uk..🇬🇧

@ I'm not being funny if you look at the grass with the air2 the footage shows the grass being bright green, the inspire shows the grass fading... again you go to the higher altitude view point & you then see both views of the grass fading! the inspire has the true view..
then as a whole DJI camera over expose to begin with, which is very clear in the Air2 however the air2 has alot less features & functions to the inspire2 "camera alone if you add in the drones abilities" the only feature the air2 has above the inspire is flight times..
not only is my opinion based on what I see here but I've also witnessed it myself, capturing footage with the Air2 & yeah its got massive limitations & only after time will people begin to mention these as all utube channels are gathering views for the new product....wait til ppl start to mention build quality on the air2 & remember you pay £1K

I also saw the jello in the Inspire 2 scenes as noted below. To me, the MA2 looked more natural. In well lit scenes, it's computational algorithms work amazingly well. The I2 images looked over-saturated to me. But put these two cameras in poor lighting, the results would be much different.

  • @Sawta

I did notice a slight difference in picture quality between the two, but I would bet that if the video didn't tell me which was which, I wouldn't know which one was "better", just that they were different. It's also weird to think that by paying much *MUCH* more money for the Inspire 2, you're actually _increasing_ the amount of shake you get from the wind. It makes sense, but it's extremely frustrating that such an important issue is actually _magnified_ by spending more money, instead of reducing it.
I would argue that the main benefit of the Inspire 2 seems to be the fact that you can fly it much, much faster (94 KMP / 58 MPH), and change out the camera, -or add various filters.- I think that those benefits make perfect sense when you're doing very specific things, but have very little "real world" benefit when you're just a regular person trying to capture some average-to-ok quality video. Inspire 2 is probably great for the best of the best videographers, but don't have as much to offer to the hobbyist / enthusiast, unless they're interested in following moving vehicles (which would require an FAA waiver if you're _inside_ of that vehicle, assuming you're using it with the 107 license.)
I really like that the video wasn't meant to be scientific, and just meant to show the real world, plain differences. Lab tests and such are nice to haves, but in my opinion, it's far more valuable to really "feel" the true benefit of a thing by testing it out in the real world, and seeing it side-by-side against something else. It gives a perspective that you really don't get any other way.

You need PRORES 4444XQ or RAW cinemaDNG in a AMAZON or Netflix production. You can change lens from 15mm to 90mm and defocus the background with 1.7 Aperture lens (nice bokeh)... And yes, inspire 2 could get jellow effect if you dont respect 180 degrees rules.

  • @Flyingfeather3256
    @Flyingfeather3256 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

The inspire 2 image color looked less saturated than the mavic. There's a reason for this, the inspire's camera is a zenmuse x5 which the lens opening is much bigger so it catches more light, that's where photography knowledge comes handy; you have to adjust the camera settings and use filters and you will get precisely what you are looking for. Using an analogy for the purpose of explaining the comparison: imagine that you give a high power rifle with a scope and reach of 5000 meters to a person that has never had a gun on their hands, can that person achieve the same results as an experienced sniper would get?

If you look closely, you can see a bit of a jello wobling in the images of the Inspire at 3.02 min for example. Also other images are not completely jello free. I don't see that with the Mavic air 2 and that's why I prefer that drone. The colors of the Mavic air seem to be a bit more pale but in premiere pro and after effects it's easy to fix that. I'm going to exchange my Mavic Pro 1 for the new Mavic air 2. I still had my doubts but they are gone now.

You may be new to the world of drone cameras and TH-cam and have not given thought to how people watch TH-cam videos. Are you watching this video on a 4K device or a tiny phone or computer that can't do 4K or color correction? TH-cam compresses the heck out of everything so you'd never be able to see the true results.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798

Very very very true. You could take two photos taken by two different cameras... One photo by a high end cell phone and the other by a high end Mirror less camera, both taken at wide angle, and if the two photos are placed on the web in JPG format (compressed), the differences may be small and not $20,000 apart. Of course where pro cameras shine for photo or video is in the different lenses, sensor and ability to record an image or photo with minimal noise for post production purposes. If I changed the camera lens on the Inspire and shot depth of field in uncompressed video, the Mavic Air 2 would be at a loss because it can't do that. But for everyday use or as a B-Roll camera, the Mavic Air 2 is pretty much perfect for the price point.

No contest. If I didn't know price or camera specifics I might have chosen the Inspire 2 video overall if it were not for the Jello. But knowing the price, there's not enough difference to spend a penny more than the MA2 costs, because colors are controllable in post, and I wasn't seeing anything in the clarity or dynamic range of the I2 video under these lighting conditions that would sway me towards the I2. That would no doubt change in low light, but you gotta hand it to these new sensors (like the 586 in the MA2) because they're pretty capable in various lighting conditions as well. BTW, great job on the editing of this video!

Better dynamic range in the I2, but the gimbals shake sometimes if you have a bad one. Also because of it's size, it gets a lot of unwanted attention. In the first shot you can see individual blades of grass. The color on the MA2 isn't natural but it holds it's own for that price.

    G"day Captain
The inspire had a harder time holding position which makes close up work less than desirable.
The inspire has better colour out the camera.
The inspire had a softer image may be caused by the jello and the jello may be from a bad prop or camera isolation dampers.
Mavic had clearer picture but too digitally enhanced for my liking and the colours too strong out of the camera.
I reckon the winner would be the inspire especially if you fix the vibration problem, but for the price and size the Mavic wins hands down in this little demonstration.
Not really a good comparison with these two machines being a totally different class to each other , but it serves to show what you can expect straight out of the cameras.
Maybe you could do some more side by side camera comparisons as well as your usual camera reviews.

Inspire 2 image was a tad warmer and slightly more detailed, but this is TH-cam, I would never pay the price of an Inspire 2 for TH-cam videos. I presume the images were D-Log or D-Cinelike, no colour grading or anything? I assume that with colour grading, footage taken in raw from the Inspire 2 would give a lot more latitude to work with, but again, with some colour correction applied to the Mavic Air 2 footage, that's more than good enough for TH-cam. :)

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798

No colour grading, no post processing, nothing. Everything set to auto for lighting conditions. Inspire 2 recorded direct to micro SD which means no high end features used. You are absolutely correct... One should never buy the Inspire 2 for the sole purpose of making videos on TH-cam.

I think that reviews are good but you need to talk about everything (sensors, cameras, flight time batteries in both drones, weight, etc) because DJI Inspire come with standar camera but you can fit X3 up to X7 lens, which one you got in this video with the inspire? Any filter? Inspire come with Cinema licenses (if you pay for it) but the standard don’t bring it “cinematic” licenses BUT still you can fit very good lenses. So, I’m wondering what configuration of inspire you use in this video, just to get a better comparison reference. Can you tell me which is this INSPIRE on your video review? Please and thanks.. I’m looking to buy my drone but I’m very peaky with that just because I want to get the best choice for me, because I do not want to buy another drone in the near future. But, thanks again

These comparisons are not crazy ass pixel pee comparisons due to the fact that you may be watching this on a 4K TV and the guy beside you is watching it on a $25 phone who bought at a discount store. TH-cam is the worse place for detailed image comparisons. The point behind this was to just show that technology has come a long way in the drone inexpensive camera world. Budget drone cameras don't look half bad anymore.

Captain, The Inspire 2 wins on video quality, but at around six times the price for a basic Inspire you'd feel pretty pissed off if it didn't! However, Uk£ for UK£ (or Can$ for Can$), I reckon the little Air 2 kicks a sackful of sand in that big ol' Inspire 2's lens. Hiking up in to the mountains or down to the coast to film some awesome land/seascapes, I know which one I'd rather haul around with me.
