I joined in 1965 and served until 1967.CPL. Now old man and Psychologist. USMC gave me discipline and ability to concentrate and study.. I would have not finished my PHD and not have been a Psychologist without my USMC service. Lean back and strut. SEMPER SEMPER FI

On August 18 of this year, it will be 50 years since I joined the Marine Corps. In all of those years, my eyes would mist over and ( goose bumps ) would form on my arms when I heard The Marine Corps Hymn. The pride never goes away. SEMPER FI Brothers and Sisters!

God bless the Marines an their parents, especially those who keep in touch with each other. Our son graduated from Parris Island, got married after graduation and threw a hissy fit beyond what we could control and has decided to toss us to the trash heap of life - where love for sons like this go to die or for us to suffer our feelings of wishing he was here. It hurts, but we're not alone and on the trash heap with other good parents who did nothing but good for their kids. Our only hope is that someday, they'll learn the hard way but at least they'll learn what they did......semper fi all......

Still get chills!!!!! Paris Island, 1957' Platoon 309..... For some reason, our platoon was taught a marching process known as "Squads Drill,
A pretty difficult form to learn. It featured 16 man squads as opposed to the standard 12 man configuration. This drill required us to memorize
all 16 positions, and be able to execute each one if needed......Every night after evening chow, we went to our squad bay, donned our cartridge
Belts, grabbed our M1's, and formed on the parade field for a few hours of practice.....November, December, etc. COLD!!! We finally mastered the
Difficult movement, and I still say to this day that, when performed, it was pretty impressive.....If you can imagine, sixteen recruits in each squad
Would perform their assigned movement, it looked like a c.....r f..k, but when completed, it blew your mind!!!!! I wonder if any other Marines
Enduring P. I. Can recall this drill? It was wicked pissa! (Boston boy). Semper Fi, Jimmy McNamara, PFC,L/CPL, CORPORAL E-4.PFC, L/CPL.
(I know, I had quite an interesting four years as a U.S. Marine!!!!!).....Semper FI!

@Ray West hello Ray, L was in Platoon 309, 1st Battalion .....16 man squads drill!!!!!.....I wish I had my set of 16 separate steps.....we had to memorize each one!.....quite a sight on the parade field on graduation!.....If you doubt this, dig into P.I.’s records. Why would I make this up?

      Alex,
Several weeks past my friend died. He served the marines in combat. This ex-marine lost his wife eight years ago. He has been totally blind beginning right after his wife's death and he lived absolutely blind by himself until passed away. When I called him i had to wait until he could struggle to find the phone, In his neighborhood he was ignored. Death was good to him when he left this earth.
Believe it or not, he was very sick on social security and the government did not help on his bills. this was a good man. His knowledge of how our government is communist controlled was massive. Yet, he warned and warned that our government was in the hands iof international banking gangsters. My friend is in a cold grave now and sleeping. He is in God's care now.
Alex, our country is controlled by a universal pseudo religious empire known as Bolshevism Of course, since 1950 this gang is making war on our nation. We have a race of cowards as head of state. Our country has been overturned. With God's help we could possible take it back. But, as you see, the above average boy or man on the streets could care less for brave ones lost in past wars. Alex, when you are enjoying the little freedom that we now have i want to thank you for taking a stand. Cowards hate them selves and away from them. STAND UP FOR YOUR COUNTRY.

      Alex,
I am an ex paratrooper, " Eighty Second Airborne Division and a glider man.
I had two brothers in the marines. Two were in the Korean Conflict.
Alex, the marines will make a man out of you.
Your must keep your character and regard this as an honor to serve. Always remember that it is your duty to protect America. Do not hang out with the wrong people. Your name and character is all you will ever really own.
All in all, make your parents proud of you. If you have anything to ask me about the military please let me know. You cannot do this alone, as our Lord will hear your every word, when you plead for His intervention.
PLEASE SHOW THIS TO YOUR PARENTS!

For the courtesy of you and others who view this, I have the lyrics for the Marine hymn and they are below if you want to read them while listening or sing along.
From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli,
we fight our country's battles in the air, on land and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom and to keep our honor clean,
we are proud to claim the title of United States Marine.
    Oo-rah!

Unfortunately, I can't remember the other verses, but I do thank you for the reply!
Plus, I'm not posting comments like this to get recognition, but my aim is to point people to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh and He lived the perfect life I could never live, then He died on that old rugged cross for the forgiveness of my sin and three days later, He physically rose again from the dead for my justification.

Pejorative expressions have no place by or in any US Military Service organization. Each of us who served our nation can and should be proud of our honorable individual and every military service branch.
Leatherneck: A proud designation now that was originally a derisive term used by US Sailors towards their Marine brethren. Leatherneck was derived from the leather collar issued to US Marines from 1798 (three years after they were founded) to the late 19th century. It protected the Marine's neck from cutlass (saber / sword) slashes in hand to hand combat. Typical of the US Marines = using "lemons" to make lemonade. From this USAF veteran, I salute with Semper Fi to our US Marine active duty, retirees, and all veterans. We needed one another during our active duty and we need one another now and support our successors who continue the traditions and honorable work we are all called upon to perform during and after our service commitments.

    • @GradyPhilpott
      @GradyPhilpott 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@aeg100 Marines have taken every perjorative given us and made it our own, because if what you call us means Marine, then it must be good. Leatherneck, Jarhead, Gyrene, Sea-Going Bellhop, you name it. If it means Marine, it's okay by us.
