    I'm using the little pause this January (2024) to catch up on a few projects I missed and just want to call out how cool it is that Sarah went from stating that landscapes were one of her biggest challenges-->to committing master them -->to creating an amazing landscapes workbook in just two years!! Thank you Sarah for taking us along on your journey and for teaching us to meet our own challenges head on too! All while having fun and finding the joy of watercolor at the same time!💙💙💙

    I love Sarah's sound effects! And Keenan, I made 3 of my kids PVC pipe bows! That was about 8 years ago and at least one is still in existence. Now my younger kids and the neighbors play with it!

    I'm a full year behind on these boxes right now I just got to this video. I have to say it made me insanely happy to hear yall play Dnd. My family and friends are all massive Dnd nerds and I truly hope you got to restart your campaign Sarah!

    Such a sweet, and wonderful, tutorial! I laughed so much during this one. It is so beautiful to enjoy the two of you just being YOU and having fun during art making (and the tedious filming).
    Cannot wait to recreate my own version of this project. So appreciate the freedom you express for your audience to make the art that they create their own and to include personal touches.
    I hope that the LMA team realizes what a blessing you are to this world. All of you. It takes a village of people to make these projects happen and you are all very much appreciated!

    I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to hear Keenan refer to the Iron Giant - one of my FAVORITE movies from my kids' childhood. I think it is a Warner Brothers movie -- and worth watching for anyone. Hogarth's dinner time prayer is one of my favorite moments in film!

    I finished my rendition yesteday. Took me a bit of playing with colors because I chose to go a little darker, more gray like a sullen winter day. My co-workers at the craft store were very impressed and I have you two to thank for it. Your instructions are always so clear and your encouragement is truly motivational. Thanks again. Happy holidays to you and all those you love.

    Keenan, the book is called My Side of the Mountain and it has a couple of sequels. One is called The Other Side of the Mountain. I think the final one is called Frightful's Mountain. These are some of my favorites too. Disney actually made a movie of the first book.

      May I add a correction? The book Keenan was talking about was one of my favorites as well as a child. The book is My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George. The book is about a boy who runs away to his great grandfather’s land in the Catskills mountains. The book the other side of the mountain is not part of this series.

    I’ve been struggling to paint good trees for ages and this has really helped!
    Also love the d&d chat. My 2 lockdown discoveries were watercolours and d&d! Maybe a d&d painting project? No idea what that would look like but it’d be awesome!
    Thanks so much LMA!

    Thanks for the awesome episode. You help make watercolor painting look fun & doable. The challenge I'm having is the lack salt movement. I've tried several paintings to get the hang of it. Used table salt for a couple, ground up sea salt on another. Applying different amounts on various stages of water, allowing a few stages of dampness. I give it time to develop & it just doesn't bloom. I'm quite new using watercolors, so I'm absolutely clueless. Yours looks beautiful, also w/the tree episode the salt made it so cool.

    • @LaurenMilla
      @LaurenMilla 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I live in a very dry climate (Denver) and I feel like salt blooms are difficult to achieve as well because the paint dries so fast and rewetting never looks great, hopefully we'll get it right some time! 😅

    Looks beautiful! I'm watching this without painting so I don't miss anything.
    One suggestion, can you move your blotting towel next to where you are mixing paint?
    I'm wanting to see how much you use the towel to dry your brush, etc.
    I can't wait to get started on this!
    Merry Christmas to All!

    Well Keenan rocks. Lol. Now we need to see the pvc bow! 😁 I love how you two interact. Thank you for sharing this gorgeous painting. I think I'm going to use more blue, gray, and deep green. I'm in Washington state and this looks like our landscapes out here except ours is more gray\blue\green. Love it. ❤️

    It would probably have been easier using a flat brush for those trees holding the nib horizontal to the paper. Right?

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It couldn't hurt to try. Round brushes offer great variety and are a great starting place, this does not mean it is the only option.

    I love watercolor and paint with it a lot, but I have never tried acrylic or oil paint. I think that those paints would be really difficult.

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The definitely behave differently. Each medium uses different techniques, and that can be confusing when just starting out.

    • @dragonplus7354
      @dragonplus7354 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried painting something with acrylic today, and it was very difficult for me. I didn't understand how to spread such thick paint, and it was harder to get the same blurry or hard line textures that I wanted. Eventually I did finish painting a little forest scene on a wooden ornament, but it was simple and also difficult at the same time.

    just out of curiosity, is the bleedproof white in the subscription box from dr ph martin or does dandelion have its own bleedproof white?

  • @kdavis1124

    So…if one does not have bleed proof white or white gauche what can we use? Watered down acrylic?

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could definitely try the watered down acrylic. It will not reconstitute like bleed proof white or gouache do but you could achieve a similar effect.

    When do you remove the salt? I have watched the entire video but I can't remember at which point you brushed it off.

    • @LetsMakeArt

      Hi Maria! You can remove the salt once the painting is finished or when the salt-paint section is completely dry. Thanks for tuning in!

    Sugar is water soluble, in baking it is considered a wet ingredient. If you add sugar to your wet paper it would dissolve and i am 90% sure nothing would happen, Sorry Keenan!

      Made me giggle but seriously I thought about putting a branch up front with a little bird on it but I was afraid I'd ruin what I accomplished. Maybe I'm chicken or just an advocate of quite while your ahead. Maybe she has a watercolor with a bird in it and someday I can combine both. Happy Holidays
