      ya idk you see something pretty. I see a rudegoldburg duel spring time piece. with a bunch a random flash on it. and at 300,000. seems super over priced. and un necessary. like it still has to be wound. and there are way cooler rube goldberg machines out there... this is kinda basic when compared to them... th-cam.com/video/mTjJzF_Oaow/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=PurdueUniversity....

    I'm extremely impressed with the thoroughness of the design, the instructions, and accommodations for real life deviations of 3D printers. The amount of time it must have taken to fine tune everything was obviously substantial. Thanks for all your hard work! I look forward to seeing mine work.
    I've made it a point to only print my own designs for the 16 months I've owned my 3D printer. This is the first 3D printed project that jumped out at me as something I needed to build.

    I number of people have enjoyed seeing my clock work and I still consider it very impressive.
    I did find a weak link. After a little while the head of my winding gear sheered off. To make this more durable I took the Winding Gear into Fusion 360 and added an offset hole for a 1.5 mm 12mm steel rod. I then super glued a 12mm rod into that hole. Fingers crossed that will hold up longer, but at least it wasn't hard to open it up to replace the part.

    • @mechanistic3d
      @mechanistic3d  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m delighted to hear that :). I agree on the winding gear/key weak link. The trick is to have the hexagonal clearance between the gear and key as small as possible to prevent shearing but it’s difficult due to printing tolerances. I’ll take note on this and see what could be improved in the next major update.

    • @markkovalcson7243
      @markkovalcson7243 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mechanistic3d Sadly it appears that the reduced amount of filament by putting a pin in place made this weaker and it has already failed. Rather than sheering off clean at the bottom of the key head, it sheered off flush at the diameter change. The pin only went in about 2mm past that point. So the stock part was more durable than my modified part.

    • @markkovalcson7243
      @markkovalcson7243 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mechanistic3d It appears that the silkier and metalic PLA's don't bond as well. I managed a 45 degree print without the pin and it appears to be working. However I think I should just use a normal filament that isn't a blend for this part.
