Heat seeking: Only (not always) a missile launch warning, so once you hear "missile launched" form the rwr look out the window and watch for smoke trails. If near to the ground dumb flares immediately and cut throttle to 0 Radar: There are passive and active missiles. Passive means the thing that locks you has to maintain lock from missile start till missile impact to hit you. If you get loud beeps from the rwr seek cover or use other radar missile avoidance techniques. Active radar missiles get steered towards you by the launch site / aircraft but then go "Pitbull" that means the missile switched to its own radar. You now get loud and fast beeps from the RWR and a red circle with an M inside of it pops up. The the missile. If you activated ARAD HUD (diamond squares on your HMCS showing you radar sources) look in the direction the M is on the RWR, there should be a diamond square comming towards you. Thats the radar missile. Good luck evading these Summary: Heat seeking: only a launch warning, dump flares Radar: Getting radar locked can be seen on your RWR
With the f/a 26, (maybe also with the f45, idk) with radar, if you only press the lock button once on a track, it selects it for TWS or track while scan. This will give that track priority, but it doesn’t give you more information about that track. However, you can then go and select more tracks (up to four I believe) and on the left side of the mfd, the buttons will be assigned to tracks 1,2,3 and 4. If you click those buttons, they will switch the radar to an STT lock on that track. This is the same lock that you get from clicking on them again. From there you can launch an aim120 at them, then switch to the next target, launch on them, etc. up to four missiles at four targets
Yes you're right, but note that selecting one target for tracking slows down the overall tracking speed (the rate of which the scanner is going from left to right)
Very good video, but there are some nuances on some of these: The flight path marker also helps a lot when performing conventional landing. A lot of the mods have become obsolete. The A10 you see in this video is not available at this time. To destroy a missile you can no longer use the Aim-9.
Nice addition! About the last two things: The video was recorded on the 27 and 28th July, the mod is not the A10 Mod, its the Baby A10 Mod (Can't remember the right name). The game is on the newest version, the missile used to destroy the radar missile was the AIRS-T. Sorry, but I think you must be wrong. Why do you think it doesn't work any longer?
@@DrMedWurst275 It doesn't work with the AIM-9, the AIRS-T still works. Also I would recommend not pulling your airbrake when evading like you do at 1:55. Thanks for including the DLZ tip btw.
Yes, loud beeping followed by a red M on your RWR ( the small screen in the top right ) means a radar missile is coming for you, these are hard to evade. For heat seeking, there is usually just a small "Missile launch" warning. Watch your surroundings and look for smoke trails.
on a MFD: CONFIG -> AIRS-T -> First option to Headtrack, Second option to Uncage Manual On If you are a new player, I have more tips and tricks videos that help you getting started with the game

Hey! I know this video is old but it’s been really helpful to me and I just have one question: No matter how many times I try when I turn my HUD, put ARAD on hud, and flick that little switch beneath the HUD switch (I just forgot the name) I can NEVER get the diamonds for enemy radar pings, only things like (F+) or (FA). To add, missiles also never get the radar diamond, so it’s just about impossible to see an AIM 120 after it’s burner faze. Is there any mistake I could be making or did something about the game itself change that got rid of these diamonds? 0:30
Hi mate, glad it helped you The radar system got a huge update recently, I haven't played that update yet AIM 120s only showed up once they went pitbull (switching to internal radar) before the update
How do you identify the type of missile shot at you?

@@DrMedWurst275 its called the A10th Piglet
Haha I liked that comment on the infared missles
It's true though isn't it haha
arctic here, glad to see you took my tip
Haha, sure mate, the other ones may follow as well. Once the motivation comes again...
Great vids keep on going!
This video was crazy useful, Thanks!
What about a video of downloading accessing and starting to use some of the mods that you're recommending
Good idea! Thanks

When RWR beep BEEP BEEP BEEP THEN m on rww
why is the ARAD not on your HUD by default? So useful for seeing incoming radar missiles

How to you deploy flares???
Grab throttle and try pushing buttons, depends on your controller which one it is
