2022 Haval H6 Crash test - Safe Chinese SUV

- Crash testing authority ANCAP has awarded the 2022 Haval H6 a five-star safety rating.
The mid-sized SUV achieved solid scores across all categories, doing especially well for protection of adult occupants (90 per cent with 34.22 out of 38 points), children (88 per cent, 43.55 out of 49), pedestrians and cyclists (vulnerable road users, 73 per cent and 39.45 out of 54).
The H6’s onboard safety systems also helped it perform well (81 per cent with 13.06 of 16) in actively avoiding or reducing the effects of a range of potential collisions - including in a run-off-road crash and in car-to-car and car-to-cyclist autonomous emergency braking (AEB) scenarios.
However, when it came to the AEB pedestrian backover test, which simulates a pedestrian walking or standing behind a reversing vehicle, the H6 was not so hot - earning zero out of a possible two points and was dubbed poor.
The result comes from the latest round of testing against ANCAP’s new 2020-2022 rating criteria.
Full points were scored for driver protection in both the side impact and oblique pole tests, as well as for protecting front and rear-seat occupants from whiplash and for the front-seat passenger in the frontal offset test.
In the latter however, protection to the driver’s chest was knocked down to marginal as the impact on the dummy used in the test indicated risk of injury, and a penalty was also applied for the driver’s footwell - which showed ‘loss of integrity’ in the frontal offset test.
Child occupant protection meanwhile, and the ability of the H6 to safely accommodate a range of typical child restraints, also scored highly. But it’s worth noting that ANCAP said one of the selected, Type E, booster seats for four to eight year-olds could not be correctly installed in the centre rear seating position due to a lack of Isofix or integrated child restraints.
“This is GWM’s first new Haval SUV model to the Australasian market for a number of years. Delivering a five-star vehicle to the market, against ANCAP’s latest 2022 protocols, demonstrates the brand has kept pace with the latest ANCAP safety standards and consumer safety expectations,” said ANCAP Chief Executive Officer, Carla Hoorweg.
“There has been a lot of interest in a safety rating for the H6, and this now provides consumers with an independent assessment of its safety performance.”
The 2022 Haval H6 range starts from $32,990 drive-away for the H6 Premium 2WD and tops out with the H6 Vanta AWD at $41,990, with prices rising twice over the last four months. The model was first introduced in Australia in March last year.
In February, the Chinese carmaker confirmed pricing and features for its H6 Hybrid - set to start at $44,990 drive-away when it arrives in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the Haval 2022 testing i new it was good but now i feel extra safe with all the wildlife here in Australia on my second Haval
Why would you need to feel extra safe from the wildlife in Australia? Are you new to Australia?
I've had a side impact in my h6 and it held up good and I wasn't injured.
The only downside was waiting on parts from china 5 months in the panel repair shop luckily insurance gave me a hire car due to it not being my fault

China produce 1/3 cars in the world last year . H6 is the best seller . It sells around 50000 monthly in China. I got one for myself last year .Its top model,costs me 140000 RMB.I'll say the car is not bad.360 view is friendly to new drivers like me.
What amazed me more is former landrover, jaguar, and jeep designers are now the top/chief designer of GWM specially in 4 wheel drive car.

@@hasanalattar9561 I tried it at 90kph and once by accident at 5kph nothing happ3ned both time but some time gear change is a bit slow when the car is cold from 1st to reverse rpm goes to 2500 but car will move 0.5 seconds later

The only thing is they used child seats in testing. I’m not aware that many people use child seats in Asia. Would have been better if they used it without child seats
The car seat belts are not sufficient to secure small children. The seat belt could lay over their necks which is dangerous. This is why child seats are necessary. Perhaps Asia should implement laws to make child seats mandatory.

They have been building cars for many years don't let the country name fool you Mazda use the same engineers to make their cars the are kicking ass in sales and are going to over take all Suzuki cars and mini 4x4 to Nissan utes Volkswagen Mitsubishi Mazda don't judge what you don't now this is the biggest car maker in China they only make juunk for the people who want to pay for junk. But the don't put there own brand out cheaply made you watch the company take over other brand who rip you off the are selling better made cars with more for less cost to take them out. Here in Chile we´ve had the old Haval H6 model for 11 years or so and you can still see plenty of them at the streets doing amazingly well nowadays; draw your own conclusions about the quality of its engine.
Great Wall and its subsidiary Haval- are, by far, the best chinese cars we have here: they perform nicely, are safe, cheap, and the engines are super reliable. And if that wasn´t enough, their models are also beautiful.
Cars like the new Haval H6, Haval Jolion, or the Great Wall Poer, offer the same, if not better performance, safety, and comfort, for a considerably lower price when you compare them with those brands that are already stablished in our country (and the world). The only Chinese brand that competes with them in terms of quality (but not price) is Chery.
Here the Haval H6 has a waiting list of at least 3-4 months after you buy your vehicle before you can receive it, the same with the other models I already mentioned.
I’ve had the car for 4 months now, the car is a premium car and that’s just it. Comparing it with cars if it’s class from a power/performance perspective, safety, interior quality, design, camera systems quality, you’d easily be talking about R300k more to match the luxury in the cabin & Tech.
This is a car to be bought and experienced. Then you decide. 😅
@@jonathanluna4974 and they are not even tier 1 in chinese cars! They are only a tier 2 in terms of tech and reliability in china, tier 1 chinese (ICE) cars are brands and subbrands under GAC, Geely and Chery. Some of BYD's dmi as well.

@@Monkeybrains90 hey dummy , this is the australian cap crash test , standards vary from country to country . getting 5/5 is a regoin does not mean its going to get 5/5 in other one . some cars in china got 5/5 while they scored 2/5 or even lower at the euopean or US test . short story , look at crashes and compare it with other really good cars , u know this car is safe but not too safe . the chasses defenitly is not rugged neither strong enough . dont get me wrong its not bad but not that good too.

Safety is not just about those inside the car....The reason they keep them soft is to try and prevent serious injury to pedestrians in case they are hit by the car.
If you watch carefully you'll see they're even using a dummy human leg to test the bumper.

Haval is using high solid steels in their products.1432MPa steel is used in the A pillar of H6. Do u really think the JP KR cars in this price segment would use high solid steels in ? U can check it out, H6 takes over 65% high solid steels usage in its body. U can make a comparison with rava 4. Chinese people now care of safety very much since the VW passat broke the A pillar in the crash test.
