I met a missionary that told us a story when I was growing up at church. He said that he felt called to go to Africa to a particular country and village. When he got there he found out a week prior the chief of the village had a moment where he was looking at the world around them and thought their had to be something bigger. The chief said he through a casual “if there is any higher being out their reveal yourself”. A week later this missionary showed up for no other reason than he felt called deep down to go and didn’t know what to expect. Hey God works in mysterious ways.

i can't imagine a more malevolently arrogant presumption than that of religious people who think, not only that their beliefs are more important than someone else’s, but that they have the right to tell them they are.
Irrevocable commitment to any religion is not only intellectual suicide; it is positive unfaith because it closes the mind to any new vision of the world. Faith is, above all, openness - an act of trust in the unknown
In other words, a person who is fanatic in matters of religion, and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God and the universe, becomes a person who has no faith at all.
Western religions are more concerned with behavior, doctrine, and belief than with any transformation of the way in which we are aware of ourselves and our world.
The trouble with many religions, accused of wishful thinking, is that they are not wishful enough. They show a deplorable lack of imagination.
The style of God venerated in the church, mosque, or synagogue seems completely different from the style of the natural universe.
The religious idea of God cannot do full duty for the metaphysical infinity.
We seldom realize, for example that our most private thoughts and emotions are not actually our own. For we think in terms of languages and images which we did not invent, but which were given to us by our society.
Many people think that the Bible is the authentic word of God and they worship the Bible, making it an idol.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
    - Romans 1:18-23
For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.
    - Romans 2:14-16
The problem is, people understand the basic moral law, and they suppress the knowledge of God.

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?[c] And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

It is metaphorical. "Hell" (a word that was not created until the 700's by the way) is also described as "dark" in Scripture. Fire cannot impact a spiritual being. Here's an overview of this verse-
      Mark 9:48-49 (NIV):
      Where
“‘The worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched."
49 Everyone will be salted with fire.
      -Jesus was referencing Isaiah 66:24
      Isaiah 66:24 (NIV):
24 “And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms
that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome
      to all mankind.”
-Isaiah was speaking of corpses that were being consumed by maggots and fire. Not the living.
-Throughout the Old Testament, “does not die” is used as a phrase, meaning: “something or
someone that will not die at that particular time.”
      Check out the following verses:
      Genesis 42:20
      Exodus 30:20
      Jeremiah 38:24.
-Isaiah was referring to dead corpses. (The worm will not die until it consumes the entire corpse).
-Once the worm completely consumes the corpse, the corpse is gone forever.
-Also, the “fire that is not quenched” phrase is a reference to “not being extinguished” or “not put
      out.”
So, this “fire” cannot be stopped from “consuming its fuel.”
(Also, look up the following verses for a better understanding):
      2 Kings 22:17
      Isaiah 34:10
      Jeremiah 7:20
      Jeremiah 12:27
      Ezekiel 20:47.

Then when he couldn’t get help from Lazarus, he asked to have Lazarus sent from the dead to warn his brethren that they don’t end up in the place he was in, proving that when he died he went straight to Hell, while his brother still had a chance to serve GOD. No man has ascended into but the SON of man who came down from heaven as CHRIST himself said in John 3, so Lazarus was and is not in heaven, but he is in the bosom of Abraham and not in torment as the rich man was. Seek God and read his word for yourself and let not any man teach you, not even I myself. For we are also commanded to let God be true and every man a liar. Peace be to you from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

I hate to say this, but it's true. Jesus didn't go to the Cross and give His life for us so that we could have happier lives here, or to secure our ticket to paradise. He came to deliver us from hell fire and eternal damnation. Every parable that mentions eternal punishment includes a vivid description of hell, including the story of Lazarus and the rich man, wherein we're given a very real picture of very real hell fire.
In Revelation we read that "the smoke of their torment rises forever". That's not metaphorical smoke from metaphorical fire. Jesus went through hell in this life so that we wouldn't have to in the next. It's a very slippery slope when you start telling people hell isn't as bad as they've heard.

Hell is real. People are already in it. There’s a true consequence to sin. Paul clearly talks about it in the scriptures. So did Jesus. Just because some early denominations didn’t believe in it doesn’t mean it wasn’t real.

Only God truly knows our hearts and only God knows our real personal responsibility. Only God knows whether we "should have known better" concerning some religious doctrine or moral teaching in certain situations of our lives or we were (and worked) simply in error in good faith. "Helping the needy and poor" means compassion and selfless love and that is such a simple thing anyone can implement in his or her life (see about Matthew 25 about the Last Judgement). We can do it wrongly or some distorted way - and I am sure we will be forgotten if we "couldn't have known better". Although I have to note that this "knowledge" (of the "could have known better") might come not only from human sources but from the Holy Spirit's secret work in one's mind and life. Each person at the Last Judgment will clearly know whether he or she rejected God's calling to the truth and to living in selfless love throughout his or her life. Every situation of one's life and deeds will be clear for him or her. The "personal smokescreens" or nicely formulated lies, even self-deceptions will disappear in the shining of God's truth at the Last Judgment. Any human lies will be crushed but there will never be any unjustice or exaggerated severity from God's part, either. Only an honest question: do you want to choose real love or not. And everyone will know by the momentum of his or her former life whether this became the real final aim for him or her or not.

A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”

If you recall the scriptures, even as far back as Moses, God promises to write his law on our hearts so we will not be required to struggle with sinning in heaven, we will be in COMPLETE harmony with ourselves, nature, each other, and God, with nothing weighing us down.
As far as creating people, only God knows the answer to that, but I've heard it said that if God knows a certain person will willingly choose to reject him, he could choose not to create that person. But, let's say that person had a child, who DID choose God. If God didn't create the first person out of mercy for them, then he would also not create the second person, which would be depriving them of THEIR free choice and would condemn them to oblivion, especially when they were destined for eternal bliss and joy. Hell is being cut off from God. Thats it. Yoh cant work your way out of hell because a trash soul could never understand what it takes to be holy. For example: if you want to be a lawyer, then you have to really love and get close to the law. Study the law, practicing the law, take quizzes/tests or challenge yourself in order to familiarize yourself with the law. You can’t be a high-performing lawyer if you don’t do all of this first.

Those are some wildly unbiblical views you have there, IP. The Bible is crystal clear that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, therefore everyone deserves to go to hell, and each individual person will go to hell, as they rightfully deserve, UNLESS that individual repents of their sin and trusts in Jesus's sacrifice on the cross as attonement for their sin.
Absolutely nowhere in the Bible does it teach that when we die we get to decide whether or not we go to heaven. Nowhere. Plenty of places in scripture say that whether we go to heaven or hell is determined by whether or not we accept or reject Jesus and His sacrifice in this life.
There are biblical reasons some think that exceptions are made for infants and children due to them not being mentally developed enough to be held accountable for their sin. There is also biblical commentary on those who live their whole lives having never once been exposed to the gospel being judged by a different standard of how they responded to God as is revealed through creation.
You absolutely 100% need to get your theology from the Bible, period, full stop. If scholarship seems to think one thing and the Bible itself seems to suggest something else then you had better choose what the Bible teaches every time. I'm not directly accusing you of doing otherwise, but I can't conceive of why you'd hold such clearly unbiblical views of hell and damnation to it otherwise. John 3:16-18
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
    Romans 1:20-23
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man-and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
I think scripture is pretty clear, no repentance of sin, no Jesus as your Lord, no heaven. It would be blasphemous to suggest otherwise.

  • @frogpaste
    @frogpaste ปีที่แล้ว +1

There're several problems with the whole 'fire burns physical things, not spiritual'. First, in the resurrection, everyone gets their physical bodies, even those that go into the lake of fire. Second, that's like saying, "photons are absorbed by physical bodies, not spiritual, therefore we cannot see anything in the next life," or, "sound waves vibrate physical ear drums, not spiritual, therefore we cannot hear in the next life," or, "food is digested by a physical stomach, not a spiritual one, therefore we cannot partake of the feast in heaven."
If God provides a way for us to see, hear, taste, touch, smell, etc. in heaven, so He surely has provided a fire that burns spiritual bodies. Their smoke goes up forever, so the fire may not be able to destroy them, but it can certainly torment them for all eternity. It's a heavy topic, but the warnings in Scripture must be taken seriously.

    1) Jesus revelaed to St Faustina his promise of appearing 3 times to people in their death to say "yes", this includes the ignorant and people who didn't know him fairly (written in St Faustina's diary). Reference below.
    2) Purgatory, a place for cleansing the soul of all sin before entering heaven. There are multiple references of this in the bible and through revelation among the saints (reference below). It would make sense as in the old testament noone unclean of sin could come near God. They all got struck to death by his holiness. Ironically, when I searched years back, the Jewish view of hell is similar to Purgatory.
    3) Mary and the Rosary. The Rosary involves prayers for the ignorant and the souls in purgatory to be lead to heaven. People's prayers can be used to save others even if those prayers are from the past or future as God is outside of time, he can bring those prayers in the present. St Padre Pio revelaed this to his doctor while he was praying for his long dead grandfather. Mary intercedes at peoples death ("pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death"). As the mother of Jesus, she was created as the loophole to God's Justice, by interceding for souls and convinces her Son to give more mercy and chances. Mary is God's mercy personified (Reference below)
Because God is Just, he has ways of judging people based on what was fairly revealed to them and also to those who could not do the right thing impeded by mental illness or brain tumor or even drug abuse forced by the environment.
Not to undermine other secs of Christianity, I have only found the clearest answer through Catholic Revelation, very recently. For years, this question was hard to find clear answers even with some of the best apologetics like Frank Turek. Some apologetics even say they won't be saved because that's the purpose of evangelization. For me, the purpose of Evangelization is to spread the God's good news and to revolutionize the world's values especially of loving thy neighbors.

Those who by nature do what the law requires will be justified.

All people have universal revelation of God - aka the creation and their moral law written of their hearts.

I know because I died several times through abuse as a child. The last time was drowning , the spirit was there. Face to face not a dream or vision. When I crossed over , everything my life had been. did NOT!!! cross over. I was freed. No memory of my parents , school , my life to then , nothing. The spirit informs me ... that is forgiveness. They sent me back , but never left me. God said , I will release the captives from hell , and I will abolish death. When I had that experience, the first thing they wanted me to learn and teach, is that there is no such thing as death.

In his letter to the Phillippians, Paul says that we are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.
    Philippians 2,12-15
[12]And so, my most beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but even more so now in my absence: work toward your salvation with fear and trembling.
[13]For it is God who works in you, both so as to choose, and so as to act, in accord with his good will.
[14]And do everything without murmuring or hesitation.
[15]So may you be without blame, simple sons of God, without reproof, in the midst of a depraved and perverse nation, among whom you shine like lights in the world, think he said that for a reason.
