Thank you for The Secret Storm episode from November 8, 1957, on CBS-TV. Back when the Dodgers and Giants (baseball) were about to leave NYC for California, and professional sports in America would never be the same again. As cities in the West began to grow in population, sports would follow that growth. Anyway, while I never watched The Secret Storm on a regular basis, I would watch the sea waters pounding the shore and the announcer proclaiming the title of the program and who the sponsors were. That was the extent of it. However, I love those original commercials that spoke to previous generations.
It'll be 50 years next month that Secret Storm was cancelled and replaced by Tattletales. Thanks for posting this rarity - sadly, so few episode of it and its sister show Love of Life survive.
Thank you for another soap surprise! I've never seen this one and I never stop appreciating the time and effort it must take you with these rare uploads. This one is even more interesting because of that huckstering over the necklace at the end, which I've never seen attached to the end of one of the TV soaps.
@@MoviecraftInc The only other moment similar I can remember is when Search for Tomorrow sometimes plugged Mary Stuart's album at the end of an episode.

Yes, back then two TV's in a household would have been quite unusual to let you see Bozo at the same time. Now, everyone has multiple tv's in many rooms!
My mom.watched all the soaps on CBS. Plus she watched General Hospital. I can barely remember this. I can remember the organ and piano music. I was born in 1963.
@@RaptorFromWeegee It said the last soap opera to use organ music was The Edge Of Night in 1975 when it switched networks. I believe it used to be on CBS. They switched to ABC.
@@sheriheffner2098 Thank you Sheri! Always wondered this. Dark Shadows, which I saw in reruns, was considered a soap opera and yet, they used regular recorded music when they started in 1966. But I also remember watching soaps during the 70s that still had organ music. I guess it was a gradual changeover. Such fond memories of watching soaps when I was home sick from school.
I've always thought Jada Rowland is super cute. I've never seen her as a teenager. but the expressions and voice bring back pleasant memories of the grownup Jada.
I think The Secret Storm didn't rapidly age the children like most other soaps do. The other two Roy Winsor soaps Search for Tomorrow and Love of Live also did not rapidly age children.
I have read the show was originally to be named "The Storm Within," but Whitehall Laboratories (which made Anacin and Kolynos) also made BiSoDol antacid...and didn't like the title...thus, the show became "The Secret Storm"
As seen weekdays at 12:15pm(et). Sponsored by American Home Products, on behalf of Boyle-Midway {Griffin, AerOwax}, and Whitehall Laboratories {Anacin [featuring John Griggs as spokesman], Kolynos}. 12:49- They also sponsored "HAVE GUN- WILL TRAVEL" (with Lever Brothers as the alternate sponsor) at the time. 14:23- "'SEARCH FOR TOMORROW ' is next, on the CBS TELEVISION NETWORK."
I meant, they didn't co-sponsor the prime-time edition of the series until the fall of 1960 {with Lorillard Tobacco [Newport]}. They were already one of the regular quarter-hour sponsors on the daytime edition by the fall of '58.
Fun fact: Storm aired in 1954 under a different title card and logo. It wasn't until a few years later that the one you see was used.
I remember my grandma watching this, and The Edge of Night.
Thank you so much! Just when I think there’s nothing else left to see, this pops up! What a great find!
Glad to help!

Too cool! This was my grandmother's favorite soap. I actually was born six days before this episode aired. 🕊💖🖖
My grandmother watched this and the Edge of Night as well! Good memories.
Yay! Another rare soap gem. Thanks for sharing this one!
Enjoy!
I truly loved this show!

Glad to post. Very true, kinescopes of these shows are a rarity.
I was born in 52. I remember my mom watching this.
When THE SECRET STORM ended in 1974, Jada Rowland (Amy Ames) would replace Carol Ann Campbell (Hector Elizondo's wife) on THE DOCTORS.

You are quite welcome. I did find the necklace commercial interesting and unusual for a soap series.

This is the first time I have ever seen Secret Storms. Interesting so far.
This is a very nicely preserved film. I bet it took a lot of hard work to make it look this good. To whomever did it ; thank you.
Our pleasure! Appreciate your understanding of the complexity of film transfer to digital.

I remember this show. Grandma on my daddy's side would watch this instead of us seeing Bozo on WGN Chicago in early 1960's.
