Followed loads of your tips and most were great. Here's one for you we went to NY Jumbo Bagels on 2nd Ave Midtown East, the people were lovely to us as tourists, so welcoming and helpful, both staff and regulars in there. The food was awesome and reasonable too.
We get Best Bagels at work all the time, and I love them (they are massive!), but my favorite place in Manhattan is Absolute Bagels. Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee is my vote for best bagel sandwiches.

I LOVE Bagel Hole! I go their almost every Sunday. Their bagels are perfectly crunchy and chewy at the same time, and I love when they come right out of the oven and there warm and smell amazing.
I've tried Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee, Best Bagel and Tompkins out of the 5. My top 2 are Brooklyn Bagel and Best Bagel. Brookyn Bagel is best for me in terms of flavor, texture, and their scallion cream cheese is "packed" with scallions which I like. Best Bagel is superb too but compared to all the bagel spots I tried, Best bagels remains manageably soft and somewhat pliable the day after so it's easier to eat =)
I was going to ask if Tompkins Square Bagel was still open. Over 50 years ago, any night I was in n the Village and going home to Queens, I bought a dozen bagels there for Sunday breakfast. Great bagels then, great memories.
Visiting my family in NYC. I lived here 35 years before I moved to Houston. Was at Zuckers bagels by One trade center and loved it. Today I am at Brooklyn bagel and just like your review 4 stars. They were heavy on cream cheese. Time to visit Chelsea market
Having been to four out of five of those places (never made it to Tompkins Square) I definitely agree with your ratings. Bagel Hole is the Platonic ideal of a Bagel and of a bagel shop. (The cheapest, most unassuming place is the best: who knew?) Though I will add that I used to live near the Queens branch of Brooklyn Bagel and their minis are much better than their regular size and are closer to Bagel Hole quality. Two other places I think you’d like are Black Seed Bagels and Absolute Bagels. Thanks for the video!

As a long time Manhattanite (transplanted from Mahwah) I have to say I'm stunned, nay shocked, you're research didn't turn you on to Absolute Bagels up near Columbia. Best Bagel and Coffee is the place my husband and I wandered into on a whim! Went in like three times in three days. Loved their flavored cream cheese! Olive cream cheese on a salt bagel was my jam!
if you look at the quality and taste of the food you can get its a great deal. Got a really big bowl of ramen prepared by a skilled cook for about 8 $ in Tokyo. The ingredients were very fresh and had a superior taste.
The best bagel in nyc for years was H&H bagel on upper west side. They’re out of business. Now I think Zabars makes the best bagels they’re at 80th and Broadway.

The Kosher Bagel Hole on Ave J in Bklyn is my fave. Their bagels are so fresh. Its toasted hot it has a crunchy and a soft melt in your mouth middle. Yum😋

Hey, Jon, I pretty much know all the places you visited, but sadly you missed the Best Bagel Rest in NYC and it's not located in the traditional neighborhoods you might expect: Yep, on the Upper East Side, of all neighborhoods in NY. 'Tal Bagels', on Lexington and 83rd St. It's not the traditional looking bagel shop, but, let me tell, they're good. Try them up and then we talk. Cheers.
I liked Zabar's bagels a lot when I was in NYC. And it was kinda cheap if I recollect well. I miss those bagels very much and I can't wait to come back there. In Brazil is very hard to find bagels. In the city I live in, at least, we don't have bagels anywhere.
For some of the best bagels in the 5 boroughs, please try La Bagel Delight in Park Slope Brooklyn. They actually have 2 locations on 7th Ave in Brooklyn. THE BETTER is the one at 284 7th Ave, btw 6th & 7th St, right across from the hospital.

You HAVE to try a toasted onion bagel with cream cheese from Cropsey Bagel in Brooklyn. It is only $2 and the bagels are a good size, soft, crunchy and delicious. The cream cheese sets it apart from everywhere else. Me and my partner have tried several other bagels in NYC and can't seem to find one to beat it.

Hot Bagels - Fair Lawn, on Saddle River Rd corner Morlot Avenue are the best. When I used to work in Teaneck for all the occasions one request was always - bring the bagels from Fair Lawn.

Pennington Bagels in Pennington, NJ is the best bagel I ever had. I remember the owner saying, they make their own cream cheese.
Tribeca Bagels is my favorite. I especially love their cheeseburger on a toasted everything bagel. Killer burger.

Can you ask to get it toasted? Or is that frowned upon?
Some places asked.. But a good NYC bagel does not need to be toasted. That's what i do for junky ones at a deli.
