I am from Houston Tx I got a bad break at every job I worked at here in Texas. I am in search for a real cheap hotel close to the Bronx area to stay for a long period of time until I'm able to afford an apartment. Do u know any real cheap hotels or Hostels I can stay in for a long period of time? I would really appreciate it if u could give me some advice.
Love all the places you went, all so very good! However everyone has different tastes and everyone’s lists will be different. My personal favorites: Bagels: Essa Bagel if just a bagel. As you said if you want lox, have to go to Russ & Daughters. Cheesecake: Bamonte’s Italian Restaurant in Williamsburg. Pizza: just a slice, DiFara, whole pie, Lucali’s. Hot Dog, Papaya on 72nd St. Deli Sandwich: 3 way tie, Katz’s, Ben’s, Sarge’s.

Italian pizza from New York is terrible! It's bland and boring, with its tasteless toppings and mushy crust. Chicago pizza is the gold standard, with its thick and crispy crust, mouthwatering toppings and incredible sauce. Italian pizza from New York is the worst excuse for a pizza, while Chicago pizza is the pinnacle of pizza greatness.

If you want hot dogs make the trip to Coney Island. If you want cheesecake, make the trip to Juniors. Katz's is right for Pastrami, and bagels and pizza are everywhere, but I'm partial to Brooklyn versions of those too.

Went with your recommendation back in March on our last day, Bleecker St. Pizza was one of the only places open on that Monday before lockdown, sent us home with full NYC bellies :-) The Nonna Maria slice is tremendous!

But if you want a real nice chopped cheese go to hajjis deli on 2135 1st Avenue, New York, NY 10029. And ask the ock there "Let me get a chopped cheese with everything on it. Bacon egg and cheese btw on a hang over if you ever get lit is something you should try aswell if you do ever get lit up in the city lol.

This is one of the things that I miss the most about New York City. Are there bagels. I have not found any place that rivals the New York bagel. Now in Florida I’m on a search.

Trader Joe's NYC Deli Style baked cheesecake is about $6.99 for the whole cake. Takes more effort because you have to defrost it but it's damn good and not $5 a slice. Gray's Papaya at 72nd and Bway is still the quintessential NYC hotdog place. Although grilled still good. Most hot dog stands boiled their dogs. Hard to come by these days, but that was the Dirty Water Dog. Hence the name. I was a bike messenger Times Square from 79' to 82' and would just pull up on my bike and get either a dog or Knish w. ketchup or mustard. Potatoes for carbs to keep me going for 7 hrs on a bike.
Emmons Bagels in Sheepshead Bay. La Bagel Delight in Park Slope. Cheesecake Juniors? Hot dog Nathan's. Pizza L&B Spumoni Garden in Gravesend/Bensonhurst Davinci in Bensonhurst. Knapp Pizza in Gravesend. Pinos in Park Slope.Delmar in Sheepshead Bay. Deli sadly Jay and Lloyds closed. Mill Basin Deli. All the restaurants I mentioned is in Brooklyn.

I too am not a big cheesecake fan, but he is absolutely correct that Eileen's Special Cheesecake is the best cheesecake in NYC. It's also the best cheesecake I have ever had in my life.

If you think Katz's is so good, you don't know pastrami. However, you are correct---Sarge's is much better, probably the best in Manhattan. But the best pastrami sandwich in the world is The Mill Basin Kosher Deli on Avenue T in Brooklyn. Get the pastrami on a garlic bread hero---best sandwich in the world!!! Oh, and best pizza--John's on Bleecker Street!!!
My tradition when I visit NYC is the first sabrett stand I see, I get a hot dog and I can’t eat anything before I find one 🤣 I love sabrett dogs, I’ll try out papaya dog next time I go! I’ve still got so much to see. Thank you for making my whole week, I’ve been so sad lately with everything going on and 2 NYC trips being cancelled... I’ll see ya in 2021 though!
I'm glad that he knew that Sarge's delicatessen is a better deli than Katz is. The problem with Katz's deli as far as my taste is concerned are: 1. Their corned beef has a spice in it that I have never tasted in any corned beef that I've ever had for almost six decades. I didn't care for it. 2. As someone else has also pointed out on an internet review, the quality of Katz's pastrami varies. Sarge's meat is always consistently excellent. And it is open 24/7 Sarge's Delicatessen & Diner 548 3rd Ave, New York, NY (between 36th and 37th street on the west side of the avenue)

Katz's Hooray! Sarge's & 2nd Ave are excellent too but I most like the THICK hand-cut pastrami with the blackened crust at Katz's. So intense.

I agree with you against popular conception, that Katz's is not the best Deli. I like 2nd avenu\e Deli.
my only pet peeve about bagels is that since they are so dense whenever you take a bite all the cream cheese falls through the sides.

The state better pay you for single-handedly increasing the ammount of tourists visiting. I'm currently contemplating moving from the other coast.
