Thanks; I was looking for this technique. I heard about it a few minutes ago. I want to learn and subscribed. Kind greetings from Puerto Rico! August 30/2020.
FLAT FELLED SEAM.... RESPECTED MADAM INSTRUCTOR, WATCHED YR ABOVE VIDEO AND MANY OTHERSON THE SAME SUBJECT. AND I JUDGED YRS AS THE BEST OF ALL BECAUSE YOU CLEARED ALL DOUBTS BY VIDEO DEMONSTRATION, WORDINGS DISPLAY, AND CRYSTAL VOICE AND CAREFULLY CHOSEN MATTER. COMBINATION OF ALL LEAD TO THIS PERFECTION. AS AN INSTRUCTOR YOU PROVED THE BEST. I LEARNT, UNDERSTOOD AND NO DOUBTS. THANKS Vatsa, INDIA
Wouldn't the seam be stronger if you sewed through both pieces of fabric vs cutting off the one side? I see many different versions so i'm always not sure. Thanks for sharing.
Yes it would. I had a student that tried using this home sewers faux flat seam and her crotch seam in her jeans started having thread tails showing through the seam. Once I showed her how to sew a true flat felled seam she hasn't had that problem. That is the reason jeans makers use a felling machine that prefolds and sews two rows of stitches through all 4 layers of the seam.
Ideally a machine that is labeled as "heavy duty." You can use a regular machine with a denim needle, but some cheaper models may have trouble getting through thick denim.
I’m not sure if you are referring to the under stitching, but the under stitching will mimic the top stitching because she used one needle. If she would’ve used 2 needles the under stitching would’ve looked more like she did it with a serger. So if you press down your seam allowance to one side and see right on top of that seam allowance, you will get the results she has.
I am wondering the same thing. Lets say that was the right side of one leg, how do you sew the left side now that it won't lay flat without going through the other side?
You're almost there but this is not a flat felled seam And the raw edges on that seam will ravel. A true flat felled seam is when one seam is wrapped around the other where all edges are covered.
Thank you so much for the clarity of your demonstration. You made it easy to understand, I am crazy about those seams!
wow, the stitches are so perfectly straight and parallel
Brilliant video thank you
Great video, honestly. Really good for reference, perfect instruction!

Thanks for this ^^ im hoping i can make this work for my hakama style trousers
How did it go did you make the jeans?
Useful
Did you use a special needle as top stitch thread 🧵 is thicker ?
I would think she would use a needle that specifically for denim
Great Tutorial !!!
Thank you for sharing this video Blessings.
Nice
Thanks
Thank you 💞💞
Great video
Thank you !
What is the best sewing machine to sew jeans

Love it. Thanks
Thanks a lot ❤️
Thank you so much that’s a very good video.
I want to use this stitch on some sleeves I'm making, but the pattern has me cut the sleeves as a single piece.
thankyou!!
Excellent !!!
Could you taper the inseam of jeans and demonstrate the flat felled seam?
Thomas Aquinas I’d love to see a demonstration video on that!!!

Now how would you do that on the other side too. My brain just can visualize how to pull that off.
I’m thinking one side should always be open in doing this. Unless you want to sew by hand..

Best way i could describe it is to rotate your whole garment 180° so that you are doing what you are seeing in the video. Hope that helps!
Ty !! So good video
Lovely
thank u
