    I prefer this method to the one where you sew then trim one side and fold over. This gives me a better result and takes less time. TFS

    Thanks for the tip for using triple stitch instead of topstitch thread! 👍🏻You can't slways get the right colour of topstitch thread.

    Thank you - about to do my first flat fell seams on a denim tunic. Less afraid now :)

    You're timing is impeccable! I need to make a couple pairs of jeans over the weekend and will be making my seams correctly now. Thank you so much!

      Awesome Kris. “A couple pair over the weekend”, she so nonchalantly says. Lol. You go on with your bad self. I’m glad the video helps.

    I like this best as I don't have to trim one side as shown in other videos. But how do you do the inner leg of pants ?

    Thank you very much for such a comprehensive tutorial. I would like your advice. I am sewing a denim top with shoulder princess seam, which is not as curved as the armhole princess seam. Could I use the method you showed ? Could I use the normal needle of my home sewing machine or should I go for a double needle?

    Just wondered what seam allowance this ends up with? Half inch? Also will this work on curved seams?

    • @SewToFit

      Still 5/8”. Yes just like a men’s sleeve on a shirt.

    I made three western shirts one year. I have also made some pants with them.

      Sounds great. I haven't had the chance to make western shirts, although we have the Livestock show every year.

      How have you and your family been doing? I think about you when I see Houston in the news. The doctor has me staying close to home to stay well.
      I well remember the livestock show. The oldest boy was up in high school and that was the shirt everyone wanted. They wanted equal time with their sister because she was so tiny it was hard to buy cloths for her even in Little Rock. The boys picked out the fabric too. They had pretty snaps and everything.

    • @SewToFit
      @SewToFit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh. I remember those shirts. My cousin here is a shirt lover. He wanted me to make a couple with all the piping and the pointed back yoke. I got cold feet. Too much work for me. Lol. It’s good to hear your are being cautious about your health. I know it’s a stressful time when you need to run errands and such. Little Rock. That’s a nice place. I climbed diamond rock and went to Rockefeller park. I think I’m remembering the names correctly. Either way it was over 30 years ago.

      I live in the southeast corner of Arkansas very close to both the Arkansas and Mississippi rivers. You would have come nearer making those shirts if your children wanted them without the piping. They wore the shirts as long as they could get into them. They felt they needed something made for them because I made most of their sister's clothes. Matching plaids and checks was the hard part.
      Are you and your family making it through this all right? So far my family in Spring is fine but I still worry because it is bad down there.

    • @SewToFit
      @SewToFit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@susanmazzanti5643 Well, my son was in the "piping" phase during his early years. I'm always trying to find something to sew for my son, since I sew for everyone else.
      We are doing just fine here. I live a few minutes outside of Spring..the weather has been manageable. Unless, you ask my new flower bed plants, the heat is tolerable. I stay home.... #stayhome, unless absolutely necessary. Truth, I am becoming a little tired of not being able to go have fun. You have to 2nd guess every move.
