That is just the craziest, funniest, most outrageously and joyfully destructive movie I ever saw and one of my all time favorites from Spielberg ! This is just a completely nuts movie, it is so over the top but so hilarious and so naively cheerful ! One of the best feel good movies ever and just listen to that music, you just can't help smiling !
This movie is hilarious. I love military comedies, and I have to say...this is definately my favorite! Oh, and it is also THE BEST Christmas movie of all time!
There is NO way that this movie was his worst. This is one of my FAVORITES... It is so full of racist remarks and slapstick comedy that I still watch it for kicks... The fighting between the military branches, the jitterbug contest, the whole paranoia in the movie oh and lets NOT forget the ninja team of Japanese that went ashore ONLY IN THE DIRECTOR'S CUT dressed as christmas trees and the one had a cigarette! LMAO.You gotta see the director's cut though, not the other version.
There have bben so many great fil composers and I love listening to their work. Every time you hear a Williams score though, it reminds you that the master is in the house.
First movie I saw in a theater without my parents!! I've heard Williams say it is his favorite march... My wife fails to see the humor when I bring this out to watch as a "Christmas Movie"....
IF by some act of God I ever met Spielberg I will tell him I love this movie, even if he says he disowns it. IF this is his worst effort (I think that Crystal Skull movie might put that out the running) then keep on making them sir!
I remember that one.I didn't get when I first saw it but now I think that was a pretty good one. Another funny scene was when the japanese were looking thru Hollis Woods things and found the pocket knife. When Hollis said it was a Hara Kiri knife and to pass it around maybe one of you has a use for it, I couldn't stop laughing at that.
Excellent video! Thanks! I was always bummed that 1941 flopped, I just love it! All kinds of silliness, great special effects (No CGI), fantastic music, a great dance number, and for out and out goofy mayhem and panic and destruction I can't think of many films that come close. The Blues Brothers perhaps. I see someone down below has the Baby Wolf comment. : D -Many great lines. "That --- is the craziest son of a bitch I've ever seen." "Get dem cockroaches out of dat flour sack!" : D
WOW Thanx Dude 4 upload this movie is favoured since childhood (german englisch - sorry) awesome soundtrack by Williams and great casts ..:: den Film hab ich als Kind gesehen und ist heute immer noch an erster Stelle ::..
Just the most fantastic, slapstick, two fingers to the PC crowd movie of the era and long may it make us all laugh uprorioisly. Spielberg nailed it with this and it's a perfect test of a persons sense of humour-if they don't like this movie then I know I'll not like them!
I don't care what the public opinion or anyone says, 1941 is Steven Spielberg's best movie hands down, and all in all one of the best comedy films ever.
Spielberg has a U-Boat. He used it in "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" He also scoured all over Europe looking for authentic German Panzer for his, "Saving Private Ryan" The "Tiger Tanks"? Russian T-34's dressed up to look like tigers. He got one from Romania that was used in the movie "Kelly's Heroes".
I don't care what anyone thinks this is one of my favorite movies and if this is Steven Spielbergs worse then I have got to see his best (probably have anyways.)
Always a HUGE Spielberg/Williams fan...but this is one I've never seen. Living in the "boonies" when it was released. I've seen maybe 3 minutes worth on television, but I'm not going to watch a film all butchered up with commercials and "edited for content". I have enjoyed the music from my old Spielberg/Williams Collaboration CD though.
@195511SM Trust me, track down the DVD. Saw it in Theaters when I was about six. Saw it a couple times since. Great, fun movie. Sheer demented brilliance. And Spielberg directed!
'BANZAI !! Goodbye - Horrywood !' This movie is absolutely comedy genius - Spielberg should have been commended for it, not criticised ! To hell with the Politically Correct lobby - put them all in the back of the tank - LOL !
I do not believe that 1941 was his worst films. When you think of all the scene's he put together its amazing film.It dwells on the American spirit to protect America. Its a very funny film.GOD BLESS SPIELBERG
This theme by John Williams is actually quite difficult to play. Any band from a High School, all the way up to The London Philharmonic has to take a long break after they play this one!
This movie has a three way-riot between the army, navy and marines while John Belushi strafes a submarine and Toshiro Mifune beats up Nazi Christopher Lee. Man, audiences back then just didn't appreciate Crazy Awesome I guess.
They take an US M-3 Grant tank, run it through a paint factory take it onto a pier to attack a Japanese submarine "Which by the way is actually a German U-Boat" and it all ends up in the the Pacific Ocean! What is not to LOVE about this!
YOU DON'T KNOW THE MIGHTY JINGLES?? HANG HIM ON A CROSS. Nah just kiddin he plays WOT (World of tanks) and this song is the opening to one of his series called mingles with jingles
I don't care if it wasn't well received and that people didn't like it, But I think this film is bloody hilarious. The whole plot is soooo stupid but thats what makes it sooo funny, like a tank trying to sink a submarine and having a crew that aren't even tankers is hilarious and the small one liners like " Do you see any zero's?, no sir but we are shooting at them" xD
To heck with the critics, 1941 is quintessentially a great bad movie to indulge to! Spielberg has done WAY more worse with the likes of Hook, Twighlight Zone, and Lost World: Jurassic Park.
I hate serious, preachy, fake, cliche ridden WWII movies. That's why I love this movie! Problem with this film it came after the antiwar films like Kelly's heroes and before the syrupy nostalgia pieces like Saving Private Ryan. It's found a new audience in the under 30 year olds who appreciate the absurd parody of virtually every WWII hackneyed movie line. Of course I loved Inglourious Basterds and detested Band of Brothers,
I love this movie!! My late father and I watched this together. The score is one of William's best.
it's his favorite march!
Can't believe Spielberg wasn't happy with it. This is by far the craziest funniest military comedy ever
He wasn't happy because it was his first commercial failure.
That is just the craziest, funniest, most outrageously and joyfully destructive movie I ever saw and one of my all time favorites from Spielberg ! This is just a completely nuts movie, it is so over the top but so hilarious and so naively cheerful ! One of the best feel good movies ever and just listen to that music, you just can't help smiling !
...👍😁😂😆
even if its his worst film, Spielberg is an amazing director/producer. This movie is still better than most comedy movies out today.
Still love this movie, music and actors.
👍😁
Look at the closing shot of _1941_ and tell me Jan De Bont didn't use the *same* closing shot for _Twister!_
Guess I need to mention John Williams. Hes a musical god.. He can make a good movie a great movie just by writing excellent music for the soundtrack.
This movie is hilarious. I love military comedies, and I have to say...this is definately my favorite! Oh, and it is also THE BEST Christmas movie of all time!
Wild Bill Kelso is so epic his cigars stay lit when he swims across hundreds of yards of ocean onto a Japanese sub. I friggin love this movie.
So maybe 1941 wasn't Spielberg's proudest moment, but none can dispute the majesty of the 1941 march by John Williams. Thanks for sharing, soldier!
Lovely score. Houra for everybody
There is NO way that this movie was his worst. This is one of my FAVORITES... It is so full of racist remarks and slapstick comedy that I still watch it for kicks... Truly fantastic especially the ending with the house sliding over the cliff
"Turn this tub around...you're taking me to Tokyo!"
Anybody got a light?
There have bben so many great fil composers and I love listening to their work. Every time you hear a Williams score though, it reminds you that the master is in the house.
Great piece of march music!
First movie I saw in a theater without my parents!! I've heard Williams say it is his favorite march... My wife fails to see the humor when I bring this out to watch as a "Christmas Movie"....
Belushi...?America🇺🇸 loved this man... that's for sure!....😁😂
Those were simpler times. Good old days.
👍😁
All these years & I finally found out that John Landis made a cameo as the dust-covered courier on the motorcycle in that scene.
He is?
@@SteVin89..Yess...guy on a motorcycle...👍😂😁😆
the only thing missing is Spielberg...☝️😆😂😁
Gosh, I love John Williams!!!!!!!!!!!
IF by some act of God I ever met Spielberg I will tell him I love this movie, even if he says he disowns it. IF this is his worst effort (I think that Crystal Skull movie might put that out the running) then keep on making them sir!
Love this tribute music video to one of my favorite movies of all time :) Thank for this :)
I remember that one.I didn't get when I first saw it but now I think that was a pretty good one. Radio's wrong ...
本作はスピルバーグの唯一の失敗作と言われ、が、ま、失敗作は他にも一杯ありますが、私の大好きな映画でした。この音楽も素晴らしいです!!!
" Where Holly wood ? " " Cantcha see I'm right here !!! "
No movie directed by spielberg and scored by John Williams can be bad. It's just not possible....
WOW Thanx Dude 4 upload
this movie is favoured since childhood (german englisch - sorry)
awesome soundtrack by Williams and great casts
..:: den Film hab ich als Kind gesehen und ist heute immer noch an erster Stelle ::..
I wish Jingles could still use this tune in his videos , I miss the old intro
Hey look! A baby wolf!
Uncrazamatic Where ?

"I'm a bug!"
'1941' is a GREAT movie; regardless of how well it did at the box office!
Muy buena película la ví x primera ves cuando tenía 8 años que recuerdo hermoso
our parents educated you very well! ;) From your comment I suppose they made it all right
your parents sry
I don't care what the public opinion or anyone says, 1941 is Steven Spielberg's best movie hands down, and all in all one of the best comedy films ever.
3:03 Lol - one of my favorite scenes ever.
It needed clips of Tim Mattheson and Nancy Allen in the plane and John Candy.
And Susan Backlinie. ;)
@@seatspud Horrywood!
Wild Bill is such a crack up
@Mr7xchamp Calling it his worst film in no way means it's a bad movie.
On the contrary, 1941 is hilarious! A great movie.
Nice job.
I love the P-40 over the Grand Canyon... WOW
....my too ..👍😁😆😂

"Hey boy! Watch that knife..."
“Spielberg’s worst movie”, my cinnamon ass. This film is a classic with some of the biggest names in Hollywood ever!
Among the funniest I ever saw - truly
@Valkyrie801 Yugoslav T-34s were used in Kelly's Heroes.
No t-34....Sherman M4 tanks
HOLLYWOOOD!!!
1941 is my favrite movie and the theme song is great
Best march John Williams ever wrote, bar none!
Even Steven Spielberg agrees with that
I first viewed this movie in a theatre.....I didn't believe (at the time) that Speilberg had a sense of humour........:
Always a HUGE Spielberg/Williams fan...but this is one I've never seen. Living in the "boonies" when it was released. I loved it! I saw it at our local AMC theater back in '79.
@AljoniMusiCo it is.. but bad quality here.. i have it on a CD of Williams music..
JINGLES!!
+Ola Nordmann Jingles!!!!
Who cares
That's an M3 Lee, not Grant. The Grant had a British turret, different from the American turret on the tank in the movie.
It is as favorite as this movi!!
There were plans to make "1942" (the movie hints at this at the end), but this wasn't that successful so it got scrapped.
where was James Caan in the movie ?

Goood, If Jingles saw this, that M3 LEE Would have him laughing in a heartbeat :D

@Willy105 I never said it was a bad movie. Other people have and that is what I'm disputing. 1941 is one of my all time favorite movies...

This movie would have made it in 1964 or 1965, but that's it. It was just bad for any years after that.
To heck with the critics, 1941 is quintessentially a great bad movie to indulge to! Spielberg has done WAY more worse with the likes of Hook, Twighlight Zone, and Lost World: Jurassic Park.

One of the most criminally underappreciated movies (and specifically, Spielberg films,) ever. ET sucked, but this movie was fantastic.
