L Theanine is more for emotional / motivation issues

Omg finally someone that understands my struggles I have lived with ADHD and dyslexia all my life never treated but diagnosed as a kid, now I am 35 and it is a up hill struggle every day in a academic world. Struggles is real I'm going to my GP tomorrow to discuss my ADHD, I have just had a kid 7 months and I have gone through a lot of burn out personal life and work life. I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression.
But studying ADHD lately I'm starting to see the dots and where I have struggled in my life and wonder why everything is so hard, like simple tasks people take granted. Want to say love your content.
I'm wondering how do I get GP to do a blood test to check all my levels like you do what do I ask for because that's really interesting to understand and to understand what is going on in the body and the brain so I can help myself.

If you are interested the best thing to do is book your first consultation with me so I have chance to deep dive in your medical history to determine what would be the best testing to do and what action plan to put together for you. @@doctorlegrand I think you are right about the GP. My sister is 52yo having unresolved issues & I suggested she see an Endocrinologist even though her GP says her, "#'s" are good but her issues persist. The Endo, I believe, can analyze her hormonal levels in detail and might be better able to determine what is causing problems for her.🤷

    • @hackneyedstudios4699

please dont listen to what he says, he is a ‘naturopathic’ physician; the entire profession’s intention is to squeeze the vulnerable for money.
if you believe you have ADHD or have been previously diagnosed with ADHD, see your GP who will refer you to a ADHD specialised psychiatrist. the psychiatrist will do some tests to determine whether or not you have ADHD and its ‘severity’ and then lead you through the best paths of medication, whether it be stimulant or non-stimulant.
stimulant medication + CBT (more specialised therapy) is statistically the most effective way to treat ADHD, with non-stimulant medication coming next (non-stimulant medication as in actual medication, not supplements).
i believe the american health system is prone to overprescribing etc (not being an american myself) so you will need to do some research into the best PROVEN medications, their pros and cons, and bring this up with your psychiatrist or GP. if you dont think they are doing their job, ‘shop around’ and try find a psychiatrist (or GP that will refer you to a psychiatrist) who takes the effort to actually find out what medication plan will work best for you (this may take some time).
theres also CBT for dyslexia which im pretty sure is effective (although itd be preferable to be treated while you were a kid)
im not sure what the blood test is for, that doesnt reveal ADHD to my knowledge.
please heed this advice, it will save you time, money and actually help you. medicine is a science, his practice is a ‘leap of faith’ at best, and a depraved scam at worst.

@@hackneyedstudios4699 Thank you for the advice, I have already gone to GP and got a reference but I have to wait a few months as there fully booked up. I am in Australia so I'm not sure how the US works really.

I started to taking magnesium lthreonate and supplementing that with ltheanine and ashwagandha has been a game changer. I can't stress more on how much l theanine and magnesium lthreonate has helped me.

l-theanine is for many things, it's not specific really. both can help with anxiety, both can also do nothing about your anxiety, ash can worsen adrenal problems too. there is a lot of complexity with these substances. ash lowers cortisol, theanine promotes neural homeostasis. a lot more can become a result of that.

  • @jmseipp

It’s not recommended to take Ashwaganda long term though. Ayurveda has been using Ashwaganda for thousands of years and doesn’t recommend using it long term. It can create emotional flatness, a condition where you no longer feel even positive emotions. You stop having feelings of joy or excitement for example. Lots of warnings about long term Ashwaganda use online. Here on TH-cam also.

Hi i do boxing and want to try ashwagandha for my next match. Im scared that it'll make me lose passion for boxing but it's positives would tremendously help. How long did it take for you to see the effects (negative/positives) kick in? Eg, could you take it once and feel the effects on the same day or would it be like other supplements where you feel it in 3-6 months etc. And how long would you recommend to cycle it to not lose passion for loved activities?

hey man , i am kickboxer / lift weights , and i take ashwaghanda , at first you will feel the relieve from stress and maybe after a month of use , at least for me the stress just feels like before again , i recommend cycling on and off and no it doesnt make you loose passion , i cant guarantee the same for you as i can do whatever task is necessary to be done no matter how i feel , hope this helps

@@LSOeaDASJDThanks for your response. I was thinking of cycling it for 2/3 weeks on and 1 week off. In your experience would you recommend upping it for 1 month on to experience full benefits. Im hearing for a lot of people after 2 weeks the ‘emotionless’ feelings comes. The only reason why im worried is because fighting without happiness or passion always results negatively

@@user-vw7iw5fo9w ok , my experience with ashwaghanda is weird , im not an emotional person but i have lots of stress and anxiety , i started taking ashwaghanda and was already killing my feelings through hard shit , thats why i cant see any difference , but as of calmness this stuff works as long as you cycle , dont worry about emotional stuff , you should pursue boxing as a necessity not a passion or hobby , defending oneself is vital and should not rely on your emotions to decide to be good or bad at it , cheers

I really have to wonder what other things people are taking along with the ashwagandha to experience the "emotionless" feelings (or if it's like the video points out about being high vs low cortisol). I started taking it 2x a day every day after getting weened off my anti-anxiety meds to help carry me through long-term after my husband's death. And I'm not talking small doses either. I never once experienced a loss of passion or being emotionless the whole 2 years I took it. I will also say I have never once done any sort of recreational drugs, I don't drink alcohol.... and I don't use painkillers if I can help it because I'm allergic to anything that isn't Tylenol. I really am curious what could be the factor that causes the "emotionless" feeling because, like I said, I was doing 1500mg 2x a day for 2 years and never felt any of the negative side effects people talk about but I definitely had high cortisol levels from stress.

I am 39 with ADHD that wrecked my life for years. The past five years I take Adderall and have found the best supplements that works for me. Ashwaganda long term, for me anyways, had the same side effects as SSRIs. I quit SSRIs due to crap side effects so I am almost against ashwaganda. Also made my testerone low and caused heart palpitations.
I have simplified my stack through trial and error, tried many a supplement and noots for five years after adhd diagnosis.
Fish oil, ALCAR, Magnesium Glycinate, and threonate, vit Bs, l theanine, coq 10 and tyrosine are the absolute best. For better sleep; theanine, apiginen or strong chamomile tea, magnesium glycinate and passion flower. Black seed oil is great for anyone who is having WDs from anything btw. Never felt better. Cost about 45 a month. And no, i do not take Adderall daily. 20 mg a day max and two days a week off. Drinking water and being active is also a game changer. No caffiene either
