Great video bro....I have a 2005 gmc Sierra and I have already replaced the Master cylinder, both calipers, hoses and now just finished the brake booster. I pray this is the last fix for this brake problem I've been having (brakes locking up when I'm not pressing on the brake pedal). 🙏🙏🙏
Jonathan Perez I’m glad it was helpful! We had replaced the master cylinder on this one before we got to the brake booster. Hopefully this fixes your problem! 🙏
@@monicaausbrooks5465 it was the brake booster but a bad master cylinder probably Was the coperte but on the upside I now have a new brake system. Lol...thanks again for the video
I need this video.. my 07 Chevy brakes took a sh**, replaced calipers, pads, master cylinder, blew out the new master cylinder, looked and there's oil in my brake booster. this video is a big help. thanks.
That must have been the guy's wife hand that was under the dash....I was a bit confused🤔, did anyone else notice? Anyhow great video it was very helpful👍
One of the best videos I've seen on TH-cam. Great clarity of video, audio, and explanation. You didn't have to cover up with loud music and nonsense like so many others do. GREAT job, Thanks for taking the time.
Thank you for showing me how to do this I just replaced a master cylinder brake caliper and drums now the brakes won't bleed so I figured it was the booster cause the brakes won't get hard please keep posting new videos
Hey any time I'm glad we have people like you to help us save money like your husband said we're day to day guy's trying to get by without spending hundred's God bless you guy's
Monica Ausbrooks thank you, when I put it on that groove, I had a vacuum leak between the brake booster and the master cylinder, do you know how to fix that?
artemio anguiano move it back passed the groove. It’s been a couple of years since we replaced ours. I apologize! That’s why it says one thing and looks like another bc we tried one way and had to move it!
Great video. One question though. While placing the O-ring on the back of the master cylinder you say to push it back all the way past the groove. Then when you go to place it on the booster the O-ring is clearly sitting down in the groove. Which is it? The reason I am asking is that I have a Chevy Avalanche that recently had the booster replaced. And ever since they replaced the booster the message "Service Brakes Soon" is showb every time I start it up. One fix that I have seen on the internet is to replace that O-ring. I think that maybe they didn't replace it or it is missing.
Shane Howard you pry up on the tab and slide it off. It does take some finagling. I found this video that has a closer up view of getting it off. th-cam.com/video/iZuVCG3p4BA/w-d-xo.html Sorry! I hope this helps!
Does anybody have a better description or picture that would show how the little plastic clip attaches to the metal rod better then the video does I can't tell and I can't get mine back on..
Is there any way to adjust the push rod? I know you say turn to adjust, but what exactly are you turning? From my understanding, these are not adjustable
@@monicaausbrooks5465 I think my brake booster is f@cked right out the door. I have brakes that only decompress partly, after engagement. I take the master off and they move freely 🤔
@@monicaausbrooks5465 I was sorta thinking the same thing. I also changed master. Could be bad out the box. I have been so disappointed with this Yukon. Makes me wanna scream. It's either that or the travel of the rod
Does the master cylinder brake lines HAVE to be completely taken off? Or can the whole unit (master cylinder and lines still connected) be moved to the side til the new booster is in?
Lamu Taafua if you are able to get it moved to the side with the lines still connected then you can do it that way, just be careful not to break the lines!
michaelheiland123654 there is a clip and switch behind the brake pedal under the dashboard. Take note of how they come off bc they can be a pain to get back together! It is attached to the brake pedal rod and the brake pedal will push to the right to release the booster rod. But once you take that apart and the bolts out it will slide right out.
michaelheiland123654 there is a small metal clip that is holding that switch one, once you pop it off the switch will move freely and can be taken off of that rod.
Did you use a factory part or cheap Autozone oriely checker part?? For me if I’m going to go through all this trouble I use factory parts otherwise you will be doing it all over again in a year or so.
To each their own. We are do it ourself-ers so generally on a budget. We have replaced many parts on vehicles and have never had issues or replaced the same part twice.
Gavyn Michael I’m very sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you. It should clear after being cycled several times. The other option would be to find a parts house that will do it for you. Unplugging the battery for 30 minutes will sometimes clear them too.
Hi! So we had tons of issues with this particular truck. It just ended up being a money pit. But for sure we could hear a vacuum leak under the hood and we traced it to the brake booster.
How do you even get the plastic piece that is sandwiched between the brake pedal rod and the brake booster rod? Is there some time of pin or clip holding it in place? No real explanation of how you got it back on. The video just fast forwards to it already on with no good explanation.
buzztrucker sorry! There is a clip on the side of it at the end of the rod holding it on. As far as it going back together pay very close attention to how all of it came off, that will make it much easier to get back on! It takes some finagling to get the brake pedal switch back in place.

The gasket that came with the booster goes on the groove of the master cylinder?
How can you leave out how to disconnect the brake pedal from the brake booster??
Very good video thx u I'm going out here install my booster
I could not find any videos for 2007 NBS Silverado's. Just an FYI I was able to change one out w/o removing the master cylinder hoses.

Did they come with the exact measurement or you had to measure them...?
Mario Verduzco it came with the exact measurements but we did measure again to make sure it was the same size.
Bleed only the fronts?
2 Ol' Vets yeah you should only have to bleed the fronts.
You said put the o ring past the groove but it looked like you had it had it sitting in the groove when you put the master cylinder in

You can move the brake master cylinder to the side without hooking the brake line to replace the booster?
