  • The EXT G1 Storia Spring Preload procedure
The heart of the G1, it's bespoke Storia V3 developed by @extremeshox delivering novel features which takes grip, support, sensitivity, response to bump and end stroke resistance to a new level.
Your G1 shock has a negative coil spring inside it which gives the shock some negative travel. Because of this it is important to set the main spring preload against the negative spring with the weight of the rear wheel against it in order for the shock to sit at full extension.
How to- fit the spring to the shock like normal with the shock out of the bike in your hands, mount the shock in the bike then you can preload the springs. Do this by grabbing the seat tube or top tube and lifting the rear wheel off the ground, the shock will extent to its natural settled position then you can wind the preload collar down onto the spring, you only need to wind the collar down until it touches the spring and the spring is held in the spring seats.
Now your main spring is preloaded against your negative spring so that when your rear wheel leaves the ground you have some negative wheel travel but your spring doesnt move out of position and the shock is at its most sensitive for when the rear wheel touches the ground again.
We wrote a tech blog explaining the development process of this damper, you can find it over on our website geometronbikes.co.uk
