    It makes me proud to know that you guys have an appreciation for an American bike. It's a tough job competing with the European bikes, but we're a "work in progress." Thanks 🙂

      Hi Chris, you can be sure there is a lot of admiration and respect for American motorcycles among European bikers. H-D, Indian nowaddays, but also Buell and Victory Motorcycles (brand which I miss) to name a few from recent past are legends here. Almost everyone knows what Fat Boy or Road King are, just they are not seen so frequently because it is a higher level price-wise in comparison to European or Japanese products.

      You’ve left out arguably the most influential and class/category bikes from a small island called Japan. The top 4 have been ahead of the game for decades now. Indian, has drastically improved since Polaris took over, HD are only still in business thanks to some loyal fans and more importantly, the US Government as they simply aren’t doing enough like Indian are. Go Troy H ! King of the baggers! Swapping from his Australian Superbike championship winning Honda Fireblade straight to an Indian Bagger and back and forth is not an easy thing to do.

    First European review of the lovely FTR 1200 I have seen. Great vid Juliane. This is my favourite sports naked bike on the market. No need for 200 hp on a naked. For me the torque and power are just perfect for the road and all that carbon with the red frame make the bike look absolutely beautiful. I look forward to your next video. Take care.

    I loved this review. This bike is lovely. I’m also 5’6 so glad for the lower seat height. Just as a fairly new rider I’m concerned it may be too powerful. I’ve a 500cc cruiser but this looks like a great next bike.

    Hi Juliane, I like your videos ! I've just tried this bike yesterday and I loved it ! fantastic roadster, as you said easy to ride, beautiful design, torque is wouah, ohlins suspension perfect, brembo brakes , confortable (I'm used to enduro seats so even if a little ferm it was ok) ) ! I smiled all the time during the trial. What a great pleasure to ride this beauty (I call it a "Muscle bike" as Mustang or Shelby muscle cars), thanks to the American of Indian company to have imagine and build this amazing bike. And, I’m going to visit the Indian dealer nearby and take a closer look at the FTR now that it’s seat is lower. I’m really short. 😁 I hope your videos help get more women on motorcycles.

    Four months and 2000 miles absolutely love this 1203 CC V-Twin. FTR R Carbon. Motorways, twisty country roads, in the City handles brilliantly high quality build with Brembo and Ohlins on board. Added side and rear luggage racks and front clear screen perfect for days a wet and planing touring absolutely loads of controlled power in Standard mode and Sports mode you’ll be flying along. Was all set for Ninja Kawasaki 1000SX though delays in manufacturer for model I wanted, saw FTRs at MCN Festival England, that was it decision made

    Since Indian made the 17" wheel change I have been really sweet on this bike. I had a Buell M2 and loved it. My one complaint is it didn't do to well on scabby roads. I had a hardtail bicycle with more suspension travel. It looks like there is no problem with the Indian FTR though... Such a gorgeous bike.

    The decision to put Metzlers on was a sound one and when the time comes, I'll replace them with the same. Combined with the altered trail and rake this bike steers quickly and holds its line extremely well. I have only two criticisms - the range is still a bit low. I'm getting around 120 miles to a tank. The other is the low mounted indicators are vulnerable when moving the bike about in the garage. I'd prefer them mounted up by the rear light.

    Ride, ride, ride then live music and cold beer, a heck of a day! Does Indian have a large dealer network in Europe? Just curious. I was once in Fierek's HD in Munich and it felt like home. Is Harley's European dealer network larger - more locations? Nice solid review and I always love the passenger report. Can't wait to see what you're riding next!

      Side bag and windscreen are already available and I have them on mine. Centre stands seem to be a rarity on modern bikes. Looking at mine, I don't see where one could be fitted anyway. Bit of a pain for chain maintenance.

    I almost bought this bike but I settled for a 22 Ducati hyper SP, all these big engine bikes have overheating issues it's because they run such a small radiator. The only thing you can really do is get rid of the catalytic converter it holds in a lot of heat and remap the bike. I got the Ducati they're just seem to be more things available for remapping and delete kits. With these big engine bikes anything over 100 degrees feels like you're riding a toaster, but if you would live in a cooler climate and then you should be okay.

      It's not a sport bike. Quick shifter as standard I would not like. Creates lazy shift habits. If you want that, just use a Japanese motor scooter - no clutch needed.

    • @philipjames3526
      @philipjames3526 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@khaccanhle1930 Not sure that's typically true. I have a Street Triple RS. I use the quick shifter when 'giving it some' as it feels 'Epic' - However, for pottering about. I use the clutch, it's nice to be involved. I do see a lot of videos where people use the quickshifter all the time. I probably agree with you from that perspective, that it does seem like the right thing to do and a bit lazy :-)

    Awesome review 👍
    8:08 Depending on how it shuts off the cylinder, it can be good or a bad thing.
    Cheapest (hence most probable)
    If they're just shutting of the fuel delivery then intake valve wear would increase slightly. Also, energy is wasted in compressing air-only charge.
    Less cheap (still fairly probable)
    If they're permanently opening the intake valve and shutting off the throttle and fuel, then no accelerated wear on valve and no energy is wasted in compression of air-only charge. So, that's better.
    8:30 I'd make sure what system it is, then think about leaving it on.
    Also, I'd rather get it retuned for *slightly* richer mix and leave that on. Why? That'll still drop the temperature and I'll still have the precious idle sound

  • @Wabbit1961
    @Wabbit1961 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    First time viewer. Very nice review. Yeah, the Carbon model is gorgeous! Basically comes with everything you'd buy aftermarket. Not sure I care for an Akropovic system that still has the catalyzer though.
    You've ridden different models. Can you tell me if you could really tell the difference with the Ohlins vs the Sachs suspension? How about the base model where it's basically none adjustable?
    Cruise control even on the base model....mmmmm...lol.
    Tires... I'd get a set of Tourance or the new Dunlop Mutants on this bike. Both are more rain capable.
    The Rally model... Are the tires tube tires or radials. The only spoke wheels I know of that use regular tires are BMW.
    So many questions! Sorry. I'm about to go to Daytona to sit on one for the first time and I'll be lucky enough to sit on the Rally version and the Carbon to check out the seat height and handle bar differences.
    I'm torn because I am also thinking about the new Moto Guzzi V7! The biggest drawback of the Indian to me is the lack of luggage options, whereas the V7 had been around forever. Plus a huge fuel tank.

      Definitely hurting in the fuel range. I wanna say 90-110 miles per tank.
      I dunno I typically fill up around 90 miles, but I never put in more than 3 gallons, which means I definitely have a bit more range. Just hard to know how much. I need to find a way to keep a reserve on me and it's perfect.
      Fuel range is definitely the only issue with this bike.
