      Not underrated at all. It sold very well and was represented with amazing showing on several test/sell sites. You will never get trend followers to stop buy Nvidia and buy what they need instead of what they are told they want. The RX6600 and xt version did a fantastic job replacing the RX 580 8gb while coming in loads cheaper than the crappy 3050 and the 3060 which were terrible price for performance options.
      I use a 7900GRE in my personal rig while 2 of our children have the RX 6600 xt and the other has the RX 5700 xt that was a hand me down when I finally upgraded. These cards are amazing 1080p GPUs and really good 1440p mid setting GPUs.

    It's currently filling a hole in the market in Aus because it's selling for $730 AUD. That's a steal considering retailers are selling 2060s and 1660tis for approx $700. The 3060 and 3060ti are going for approx $1000. That and it's seemingly in stock

    2 years later these are still great budget GPUs that held up well and draw the lowest power for a GPU that actually plays 1080p ultra settings and 1440p with some medium settings. I bought this for our 5 year who has now turned 7 and tthis card is still amazing. Overclocking it is pointless. This silicon is what it is and affects nothing, also with exception of biostar, all of the versions of the gpu are really good and within 1% top to bottom so take your pick but avoid the bio which is noisy and base base base performance. Had it been a year later we would have gotten him the rx 6650xt but for now this will work for his needs until he is 10 or 12 and that is perfect value for performance.
    his rig: RX 6600 xt/ ryzen 5 3600/650w psu / B450M mobo/ 16gb 3600mhz ram/2TB M.2 with loads of useless pretty lights because rgb easily gives at least 1 fps

    is the ASRock AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT Phantom Gaming D 8G good?

  • @dimitriid
    @dimitriid 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I think AMD just knows you can't buy a 3060 or 3060ti right now for anything less than double MSRP. If this was to be released without the current shortages they would have targeted 300 to 320 more or less but the seem to be fairly confident they will have lots of them available.
    So a "bad" card at 400 USD is far better than a better 3060 or 3060ti each of which starts at at least 700 still. It's just opportunistic there's nothing really confusing about what they're doing here.

    • @TerraWare
      @TerraWare 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly. It's what I've been trying to tell people. I think reviewers should just not focus on the msrp's from Nvidia and AMD because they're irrelevant. Of course if you walked into a store and a 6600 XT was selling for $380 and a 3060Ti for $400 most people would get the 3060Ti but that's not even close to reality. AMD or Nvidia don't care about the person who can only spend $300 when their more expensive cards are flying off the shelves.
      There's also the rise in material costs, taxes, shipping and raw material which are real factors effecting the price. Inflation also has an effect, printing money isn't really free money. I'm a self employed subcontractor and stock prices have risen tremendously, doubled in some cases and I pass those costs to my costumer. I'm not a charity and neither is AMD or Nvidia.

      I use Linux as my main OS. Not to mention basically every single server on the entire internet.
      Steam Deck uses Linux. Every Android phone is Linux. The router that you're using right now to write this uninformed comment is probably running Linux as well.
      Who's using Linux? You are.

    • @l__________________3452
      @l__________________3452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do.
      A few reasons why people consider Linux over Windows:
      - Privacy: No telemetry by default + you can deactivate or isolate software that you don't trust
      - Security: The security model of OSes with a Linux kernel is usually way more robust than Windows. It's very similar to MacOS in that regard.
      - You own your PC with Linux. You have the highest privileges with a root account (the administrator on Windows is not equivalent. LocalSystem is the equivalent but you can't really use that account yourself)
      - More stability (and even if something breaks you can fix it without a reinstall)
      - Package managers: System updates and updates of the software are a core functionality that people use on their PCs. However on Windows each program brings it's own installer, updater, uninstaller . This is stupid because it's functionality that most tools need and it's not a trivial task to build a secure updater. You also don't have to google for programs, hope that you are on a legit site and download a random .exe
      - Better multi-threading, scheduling and filesystem performance
      - Philosophy and Ethics: Windows is closed source, you can't really fix issues on Windows and you don't know exactly what it does. You can work around the issues and reconfigure Windows, but you are not able to solve actual bugs in windows. With most software being open source (and/or free software) on Linux you can open feature requests, make bug reports or contribute yourself. Have you every tried getting a feature in Windows (as someone who is not a huge corporation)?
      - Working search
      - plain text config files: If you want to configure deeper things that the UI doesn't expose you don't need to google for magic registry values, a texteditor is enough to configure everything.
      - updates when I want and only what I want: Updates are great! I don't fear that anything breaks, I'm just excited for new features
      There is a lot more but nobody reads this realistically. So why do I game on Linux and use Video editing,...
      I game on Linux because ArchLinux is the OS of my choice for the above reasons and a lot more. I can play Beat Saber with my Valve Index and Half-Life: Alyx. I play Anno 1800 with friends on a regular basis. It just works good enough that I don't see a reason to switch to Windows just for gaming and video editing. Sometimes you lose a couple of FPS in other cases you win a couple. I even got old Windows games to run in wine that don't work on modern Windows anymore. For video editing I use Kdenlive, it works well and improves constantly. If you want to do a Hollywood production there is Davinci Resolve.
