4:58 Actually, that is SUPER possible. It took me about an hour of attempts, but I managed to get to the top of the tower WITHOUT going into a 2d section. Getting onto the first platform is tricky because it has bug that makes it so you can’t ledge grab up. From there you have to do a triple jump, dive into cappy, wall jump, and then dive again. If you get the right angle with Mario and the camera, you’ll land on those two platforms that have coins in the 2d section. But, because you never went through a 2d section, you can walk STRAIGHT THROUGH the coins and easily make it to the top of the tower from there.
You’re not wrong, I just tried it, it is actually possible
Here's one I discovered that is MUCH easier: Lure a bullet bill from the launcher by the "a crate in the ruins" power moon to the moving platforms infront. Get to the 2nd platform, than capture the bullet bill. Than, turn around and accelerate forward as fast as you can, and when you have to dismount, you'll be by the edge of Moe-Eye habitat. The only problem is I don't know if this actually affects the ability to get the 2nd story moon, as I tried this skip during the nighttime portion of the kingdom, Where I already collected the first story moon, along with the second and first multi moon.

I tried this challenge before seeing this video, and I was SO desperate in Sand Kingdom, because I wanted to get to the following parts of the story, and i actually got really close to the top of the tower despite being awful at most games.
I was hoping you would take up the challenge and show it was possible XD
I was OBSESSED with watching your coinless runs around 2019, (I think I was 13?) and I hadn't seen an odyssey one yet. So, I tried my own odyssey coinless run, and I gave up at the robot caterpillar guy. I stopped watching coinless runs and Mario content in general for years until now. I'm 17, and i'm back into Mario. I'm not sure why, but it makes me way happier than it should that you figured it out.

It is possible to skip the Klepto section by jumping to the cage with a power moon in it and then going to the section near the cage. The cutscene will not trigger. You can even defeat Klepto normally without triggering the cutscene by going to the tree where Klepto is and doing certain skills to defeat it. Doing this will now make avoiding coins much easier.
Definitely one of my favorite coinless challenge videos by far. Mario Odyssey is such a wonderful game. While some of it's moons feel like filler, the others make up for it. I think besides Mario 64, this is definitely my favorite in the 3D lineup. Great Job Nicobbq, keep up the good work. ❤
