    Tip: Look into the camera, when you're watching someone it's very difficult to make a connection or be interested in their performance with them when they're looking slightly off-camera, and it makes it awkward to watch. Disregard what I said in the video about looking to the side of the camera. Sorry for the confusion!

      Wow, it's so wonderful to hear from you, it's been so long! I learned so much valuable information with you and since I was so new to MT I don't know where I would have been navigating the audition process without that summer intensive! I also learned a lot through auditioning which is actually why I started my channel! I didn't want others to feel as lost and confused as me, especially those who don't have access to summer intensives. So I've actually made several videos with the information I learned with you at Ithaca which is so wonderful! I hope you've been well, all the best and thank you again!!

    I have three schools that said they wanted a minute long video of any style of dance. I have been choreographing a lyrical solo, would be okay even though it's not a MT or jazz solo? - almost all of my dance training has been in more lyrical styles :) Thank you!

      If they say any style you might as well show your strengths in dance! And on the Common Prescreen that’s a type of dance that’s recommended - so I’m sure other schools will be fine with it!

    Hey! Love the video as always. For classical monologues would you say it has to be a Shakespeare or could it be something else?

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Alex! I wouldn’t say you have to have a Shakespeare monologue, people often do use a Shakespeare monologue, but it’s definitely not required.

      Classical would be anything pre-1900s. That would include Shakespeare, but really any other playwright from before that time.

    I have all my materials but I just need to find places to record them because my house is very noisy and crowded and then school is closed.
    Is there special places out there that you can rent out studios or anything like that to record?

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could always look up recording studios in your area but that will most likely be expensive. Personally, I did mine at my voice teacher's house which worked well because they had a piano, you could also maybe look into recording it in a dance studio if you're allowed to and have no other options.

      I also think it's amazing that you already have your material that is amazing! Now you have tons of time to work on the acting and singing and really nail it down for your prescreens!

    HII I love ur videos they've all been very helpful! But I do have one question, for international students do you think the whole process can be done online? Or would I have to travel to the place while applying for schools-?

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not completely sure but I think after covid some schools are offering online audition options.

    Hi! Is there a source for how to label the files from a school? I've heard a few different things and I want to make sure it is consistent with all schools

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think that labeling it different from how I've said will be any big issue or anything, I the important thing is that you include the important information and make sure it's concise and organized. The particular way that I talked about labeling it came from a video by Mary Anna Dennard from College Audition Coach. th-cam.com/video/j9kdWkOnKkc/w-d-xo.html

    We're going to record with an iPhone. What kind of technology would you use for the recorded track?

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually use my computer! You could also use a speaker if the sound isn't loud enough straight from the computer.

    i have a question regarding dance...
    so ive done 7 musicals in my life and i have good experience with singing and acting and dancing. but most auditions require a separate dance video and i’m not sure how to film the dance part. i’ve always had a choreographer come in for musicals to teach and have a dance number written out. but i don’t have any private lesson experiences neither do i know how to make my own choreography :( any ideas on what i should do?

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I had never had experience with private lessons for dance but I was able to work with someone who I hadn't worked with before one-on-one or at all and they were able to teach me a dance routine. I definitely wouldn't have been able to create my own dance! You could also find a dance routine you really like on youtube or online and learn that (Joseph Corella has great ones!)! It might not be as personalized but you can make it your own with your facial expressions and how you do the specific dance moves! I've also heard of someone who teaches them online so you could search the internet for that! I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions and best of luck!!
