    Thought we had the holy grail, finally. Appreciate the thorough review. Side sleeper looking to block out snoring. Really disappointed that these don't block more noise than foam plugs.

      I'm glad the review was helpful! Sorry to disappoint you with my findings. I shouldn't be too sorry though if it saves you from buying something that was unlikely to meet your expectations:-)
      I'm not sure the holy grail exists (yet) when it comes to blocking out snoring that's right next to you in bed, especially if it's particularly loud and/or you are a light sleeper and sensitive to noise. There's just something about snoring that has a way of finding its way around, through, across, or over whatever we use to block it out!
      In my view, it's a case of finding the most effective and comfortable way to reduce the volume to a hopefully tolerable level.
      So with that in mind, I found the Quieton are very comfortable and will reduce some snoring, but no better than just the right foam earplugs.
      As I said in the vid, I'm just one person testing them though, so I recommend seeing what other people have to say about them. I have decades of experience testing earplugs and know exactly which ones work best for me, so it was a tough competition in that respect.
      Having said that, if the Quieton were especially amazing at blocking snoring, I believe I would have found that out, no matter how good my earplugs are.

      I'm struggling to find a product that has ANC for sleeping. Can you help or recommend something that blocks out vehicle noise. I need help please

    • @nosleeplessnights1
      @nosleeplessnights1  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is tricky because there are no decent ANC headphones that play music and are designed specifically for sleep. The Quieton will help block out some vehicle noise, but perhaps not all of it if it's loud and/or sudden. Alternatively, you'll need to consider standard headphones from bigger companies like Apple, Sony, Bose, Sennheiser etc

    I got my QuietOn today in the mail. I wish I'd seen your video first. I had been hoping for zero or near-zero (given the 'wave cancellation' aspect), but really they just reduce the sound. I can't say at the moment they do much better than foam earplugs. For hundreds of $$ in cost, I had hoped for way, way better.

    • @nosleeplessnights1
      @nosleeplessnights1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry to hear they aren't working as well as you hoped. Are you planning on asking for a refund?
      Out of interest, did you buy them and then look up reviews once you started having doubts, or did see other reviews that didn't assess them the way I did?

    • @TenaciousDan42
      @TenaciousDan42 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nosleeplessnights1 I had read a few review web pages that expressed them favorably, in addition to their user comments expressing similar challenges that I face. Combine that with hope of something that can help with noise and that they seem legitimate (plus the money back guarantee), decided the risk was low. But after a $65 customs bill plus you had mentioned return shipping I will need to cover, it will end up costing me about 1/3 of what I paid to return them.
      At the moment I plan to keep using them, in the hopes that in the 'real world' (ie, in bed vs being in front of the computer with speakers on) will end up working out. thank you

      @@nosleeplessnights1 sorry, I cannot find your 2nd reply (only this 1st one) so I'm replying here...anyways, yes I'd say I find your review very thorough. I did not nearly go into the level of digging online and found nothing to the level of what you presented. So I thank you for that. Secondly, I recently took them on a trip to Europe and had the chance to use them in different places to sleep as well as on the plane to keep the noise down. I would say I found them slightly better than foam ear plugs. Given what I spent, how hopeful I am for a 'holy grail', and the fanciness of the technology on paper behind them, I want to love them more than I do. Hopefully with their next version we will see the possibility come more to fruition. :)

      @nosleeplessnights1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Dan. You're welcome - good to know you found the review thorough.
      Something odd happened with the comments - I couldn't find your previous reply the other day, so I deleted mine because it no longer made sense! But now I can see yours again, so I don't know what happened there. The way the comments are presented by TH-cam can be a bit mysterious sometimes...
      Anyway, it's interesting what you said about giving them another chance and that you found them slightly better than foam earplugs. And I think you highlight a key benefit - using them when out of the home, such as on a plane, where some people might not want to use earplugs.
      As for the holy grail - I am also looking for that as it doesn't seem to exist yet.
      I have a plan to do a test of loads of different noise blocking solutions at some point this year, and will bring the Quieton 3.1 back out for that test when I do. Keep an eye out for the video when I get around to it:-)

    When they are more expensive than the AirPods Pro 2 the one thing they do, the Noise Cancelling part, must be much better than the AirPods pro 2! Or they are useless!

    • @nosleeplessnights1
      @nosleeplessnights1  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I'm not sure I'd go so far as to call them useless, because they do have three other key points in their favour compared to the AirPods Pro 2: they are more comfortable to wear when lying on your side, the battery life is significantly better, and there is no Bluetooth connectivity (for those that value that point).
      However, they clearly don't match the Airpods where the noise cancelling part is concerned, so it would perhaps be good if the price reflected that.

    These are not great at all! I was really disappointed with these and call them a “QuietCon” they make around a 10-15% reduction in noise at best. I wasn’t expecting total silence but I was expecting maybe 50%. I can hear the electric train on a quiet track from 1km away wearing these. No better than wearing foam plugs.

    • @nosleeplessnights1
      @nosleeplessnights1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think the company will be taking your new name up in their marketing! Sorry you didn't like them. I think it's possible to get close to that 50% or even higher - it all depends on the noise source and the fit in your ear. But yes, good foam earplugs are hard to beat. I can get better noise reduction with super dense foam earplugs than most high-end noise-cancelling headphones!

    I have used Sleepbuds2 for 2 years and Quiteon3.1 for 2 weeks. The batteries in my Sleepbuds were no longer lasting, so I bought them as replacements, but I was quite disappointed. It's almost questionable whether Quiteon's ANC is working. I don't feel any difference from foam earplugs. Rather, it is a burden to maintain as it is a form of its own standard. That's fair enough, I can understand your point as earplugs do have a habit of creating a feeling of pressure in your ears. • @nosleeplessnights1
      @nosleeplessnights1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't know which ones are exactly compatible. I just tried some of my other tips after reading your comment and none of them fit perfectly. The closest were the Sony WF1000-XM4, but they were still a tiny bit loose, so I think the seal would not be perfect and they might fall out in your ear. Perhaps Sony make some other tips that are the right size. You need to measure the stem and look online.
      As for equal or better, the Quieton were unique in a way because other companies either have audio as well, or are not intentionally made to be so small.
      I am currently editing a review I did of the Soundcore sleep A20 and will publish it this week hopefully. They don't have ANC, but are very small and comfortable and have sounds on the app that you can use to mask noise.
      But if you want silence and just ANC from tiny earbuds - there are none I can think of that are equal to the Quieton.
      Sleep earbuds continue to be an underdeveloped area sadly...

      @nosleeplessnights1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think you can buy them now anyway as the company has declared insolvency. Maybe they will be bought out and rescued, though I would be surprised if that happened.
      Currently, there are no decent sleep-specific earbuds with good noise cancellation that I know of. You'd need to look at normal earbuds and find some that you can wear comfortably in bed if you want active noise cancellation.
      I'm currently testing the Soundcore Sleep A20, and will review them in the coming weeks. They don't have active noise cancellation, but are very comfortable and have a good range of sleep sounds built into their app.
      But not noise cancelling, they do almost nothing unless you play some audio to mask the sound of your neighbours.

    Hello and thank you for your precise and useful test. However, I have an essential question that remains unanswered. How QuietOn are supposed to be worn ? Is it more like a classic earplug, meaning that foam goes into the ear canal and exerts pressure on it, or is it more like an earpod pro, meaning it's "put on" the entrance of the ear canal like a plug. This is a very important aspect for me, because most earplugs (and even small one) exert a disturbing pressure inside the ear canal, which is not the case with earpods pro or nothing phone pro (which I have and which are extremely comfortable, by the way).
    Thank you very much in advance if you take the time to answer this question.

    • @nosleeplessnights1
      @nosleeplessnights1  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're welcome - I'm glad it was useful. So, the Quieton do have the memory foam tip which expands a bit in the ear. But it doesn't expand as much as a foam earplug, and doesn't go as deep (unless you have very small ear canals). So I'd say they are more like standard earbuds than foam earplugs. And the fact that they are so small also makes them feel less 'stuffed' in your ear as earplugs.

      What can block door slamming and sudden sounds from upstairs neighbours?

    • @nosleeplessnights1
      @nosleeplessnights1  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a really tough one. In the ideal world, we could just have a polite chat with them and ask them to do something about their doors, or be more gentle. But that's not always achievable if the neighbors are not on friendly terms with you or not the type of people to listen to your concerns.
      For blocking the sound, earplugs or headphones with music can help a bit. And maybe putting more 'things' in the bedroom to help soak up some of the noise energy if it's quite a minimalist setup. Beyond that, you're looking at potentially expensive sound insulation work, with no guarantee it will fix the problem unless it's done to a high standard and the appropriate 'fix' for the noise source and setting.
      I wish I had a perfect solution for you, but this is one of the harder noise problems to deal with, unfortunately.
