My father was posted in ladakh i was residing with him at his duty station very near to airforce station leh and when china issue was on peak i saw many fighters there performing day and night sorties the most common fighter was mig-29 and others were su-30 mki, Dassault mirage 2000, Dassault rafael reamaining were attack choppers transport choopers and transport planes.we usually hear about capibility of indian airforce.There i daily saw the capability as well as the power of our airforce.

India needs to work quickly on the power pack and also intricacies of the system integration. They even violated that by modifying the J-11 and breaking the contract. The J-15 was copied from the Ukrainian version of the Su-33 from Ukraine. The J-16 is just a shameless modification of the J-11 which looks like the Su-30. India actually does have full production and modification rights over the Su-30MKI. Over 90% of the production of the MKI is already indigenized, and we even offer support to the Malaysian Su-30MKM.
My only concern is mig 29 is an interceptor originally built to intercept f-16, they are a generation old. We need deep penetration fighters for attack , mere defence with mig 29 may not be sufficient with China.

What's your view on mig 35. I know it's not as capable as western plateforms but if it can outperform china and Pak than what's the harm in purchasing mig35s. It's way cheaper than Rafael almost half the price and with flexibility India get with Russian plateforms we can locally upgrade it in future. It can help India increase our squadron strength. this is not correct statement, mig 29 still has engine issues, weapons are outdated , range is less compared to similar fighters only weight to power ratio is good.

Few mods like a galium arsenide aesa radar, astra mk2 will add some capabilities to it. An upgraded engine will change its entire equation and make it comparable to f15 standards.

The MKI uses the Bars N011M radar, which has a detection range of 400km and a 200km targeting range. That is twice the size of basically every 4th and 4.5th gen aircraft. IAF actually uses it as a mini AWACS. Also, its a hybrid between a PESA and an AESA radar, it isn't a pure PESA. This radar, coupled with the datalink on the MiG-21Bison(which is an Indo/Israeli upgrade of the MiG-21bis done in the 90s) allowed the Bison to get multiple USAF F-15 kills in friendly exercises. It also has a smaller RCS than the F-15C/D. So yeah, coupled with the Astra Mk2, which is already going through flight testing, it will become a deadlier beast.

Few mods like a galium arsenide aesa radar, astra mk2 will add some capabilities to it. An upgraded engine will change its entire equation and make it comparable to f15 standards.

The MKI uses the Bars N011M radar, which has a detection range of 400km and a 200km targeting range. That is twice the size of basically every 4th and 4.5th gen aircraft. IAF actually uses it as a mini AWACS. Also, its a hybrid between a PESA and an AESA radar, it isn't a pure PESA. This radar, coupled with the datalink on the MiG-21Bison(which is an Indo/Israeli upgrade of the MiG-21bis done in the 90s) allowed the Bison to get multiple USAF F-15 kills in friendly exercises. It also has a smaller RCS than the F-15C/D. So yeah, coupled with the Astra Mk2, which is already going through flight testing, it will become a deadlier beast.
