This video was sponsored by Nike. 🤣😂🤣 Friend of mine came camping/walking with me for three days around North Yorkshire area. He bought a new pair of walking boots especially for the trip. Unfortunately he didn't check them until we arrived and he found they where 5 sizes to small for him. So you're not the only one. Great video and yes to the tent vid👍
I have the xmid2 pro 2. Just did the Skye trail with it. Its pretty solid in wind and rain but the big sides can lead to compression if not set up properly.... and you definitely need more than 4 pegs
The day you released your video I watched it that night while relaxing (aching) after undertaking a section of the Offas Dyke long distance walk, and obviously navigating it in the dark… oh the joy. In fact It was an over night stop in Knighton. Shear coincidence, but I was under my Terra Nova Superlite Voyager, a tent have used for many many years (got to be twenty ish I think) It has done many a long distance walk and wild camp. The only moan I have about my version is the mesh at the bottom of the tent…..cold toes! Great tent, I am actually dreading the day it has to be replaced, but it is still like new. Thank You Terra Nova, a version two! Alas I also have my eye on a new Terra Nova Quasar. If I was to purchase a new tent today, it would be one of these two tents.
Great video Paul. Never forget my boots but forget to put my walking socks on when getting out of car and putting hiking boots on. Didn't realise I'd been wearing my cotton sports socks on whilst walking 😬🤣
Just bought an xmid (not the solid because they again have none) and have high hopes for it. Should be ok in mesh for most of SW France year anyway and they’ll maybe one day have alternative nest options on sale. If you ever fancy a trip to the Massif Central, you’d be welcome on the “Yorkshire stick together” principle mate. Thanks for all the info over time. It really is welcomed because of the trust in what you say and that you use it yourself …though how the hell you get time to use the range of it you have is clearly not easy. Anyway, cheers for that
@@thomasjeffersonlane9902 yes I can hold a phone. I’m referring to the use of gimbles, microphones etc. attached to a phone to make a video look more professional. It’s not easy to see what Paul is using in that regard.
Paul hi I'm an avid follower and supporter of your channel and have watched countless videos with you using the Storming Norman windshield why dont you get them re-manufactured over here in the UK and sell them on your website . Great bit of kit!
Just a suggestion regards to tents or even a brand to cover for the channel. I've bought a few items from Alpkit and been really impressed with both service and quality (Skyehigh sleeping bag & Fantom jacket). Believe the brand started an affordable alternative to the big brands and just expensive outdoor clothes in general, but more recently they're equally if not more expensive. Great quality products in my experience, so that doesn't bother me, though I guess the current financial climate doesn't help a UK based company. Either way, being online only it's really hard to get a feel for what their products are like to use or even wear. The Solist tent seems popular, but outside of that it's quite difficult to get an informed opinion. I'd suggest this could be where you come in 😁. Anyway, great video Paul and great to see you out! Even without your boots!
Hi Paul , I wonder if you could tell us a bit more about your experience with the Durston and how the inner space compares to let’s say your Lanshan pro. I recon both tents are 1p tents. I heard that the Durston doesn’t impress with its living space inside. Recently I startet marauding in my Lanshan 2pro and to be honest, my expectations were a mildly euphoric but now I love it.
At one point I had a Lanshan 1p, Lanshan 2p, X-Mid 1 and X-Mid 2. I can say the X-Mid 1 is by far the easiest tent to put up I've ever owned, followed by the X-Mid 2 (which is slightly more finnicky with wanting you to get good 90 degree angles for your corners). As for size, they are comparable. The 1p versions are both 80cm x 130cm, however the lanshan has a triangle along the long edge towards the back that adds 20cm at the peak whereas the X-Mid is a parallelogram so you actually kinda lose a bit of space at the ends. It's completely reversed in the door/vestibule situation though with the X-Mid having two doors and two vestibules, there's tons more room to store and cook. I've never felt out of space in the X-Mid, I have in the Lanshan. As for the 2p versions, I found the Lanshan 2 to be awkward to get right, and also too high off the floor at the doors by default. We modded it to be lower, and change the way the doors are secured which helped, but once I'd taken the X-Mid out once, I sold the Lanshan 2 right away and don't regret it at all. I loved my Lanshans, but in my opinion they don't even come close.
Paul, another great video - where can i pur-chase one of those caldera type cones for your alcohol stove please? The x mid looks great but I'd prefer something like that and the trail designs caldera cone is it of stock due to no aluminium stock??? Cheers
Love the channel and the videos but I must say that in the 24 hours Rab video I saw you got an alpine 600 but didn't give your opinion on it so I was wondering if it was any good and would you recommend.

Still the best Paul, always say it, you are more like most of us, by that I mean you do nice 1 night camps in places that most of us mere mortals would go to and you don't hike 25 Mike's to get there! Any way regarding tents, yes I'd love to see the voyager 2 on your camps, it's one on my list of to get tents. Nice video again. How was the tent for condensation? Also I just bought an Exped Ultra 3R sleeping mat (LW / long wide version) which looks great. Haven’t tried it yet but you might like to investigate them. Got the matching pillow too in bright green.
Cool little stove. Did you make it yourself? I was just wondering if that was a little screen and carbon felt or something else in the cut down soda can? I have a Durston XMid 1P Solid on order to use during the winter here in the states. I'm curious as to how it will do. I also recently picked up a new Tarptent Moment DW to try this winter as I think it'll be good in the wind and snow. I've had my Atom + pack out now on a couple of trips and I'm not loving it as much as I had hoped. Even with a low pack weight, I feel too much on my shoulders. I really wanted to make it my go to pack because of all the customizations. It truly has so many features that I adore. It's just not as comfortable as a couple of my other packs. How do you like your Mo now that you've used it for a season or two?
I really like my Mo. I’ve not had any issues with the weight on my shoulders. I did spend a fair bit of time measuring my torso for a good fit and then when it arrived quite a few adjustments with the back plate.
