I watched this the morning of my interview and it helped me do so well they called me an hour after and offered me the job! $140k, a 30% raise over my last salary! Thank you SO much!
*Top Questions to ask interviewers* 1. Can you tell me more about the day-to-day responsibilities of this job? 2. What do you think are the most important qualities for someone to excel in this role? 3. What are your expectations for this role during the first 30 days, 60 days, year? 4. Where do you think the company is headed in the next 5 years? 5. What are the biggest opportunities facing the company/department right now? 6. What do you like best about working for this company? 7. What are the biggest challenges facing the company/department right now?
Queen Loushe The Cute I would say the only value in asking that question would be to gauge the honesty of the interviewer. If the workplace environment is hostile and they know it is but they need to fill the position for whatever reason they’re not necessarily going to chase away a prospect by telling them that to work there is hell. This isn’t it my personal experience but the experience that my father has shared with me about his job (advertising display company).
Oofer I was getting interviewed by an attractive woman and I imagined her naked. I had a boner for half the interview. Luckily, the boner made me forget about the nerves and I did well.
I just nailed (mostly) my first interview with an aerospace company. Got the job! It was an hour long phone interview and was pretty stressful. I have watched this video several times now so thank you!
When telling your stories, a good framework is the STAR technique. It stands for Situation, Task, Action, and Results. You describe the situation, talk a little about the tasks you were responsible for, the actions you took to achieve the desired outcome and the results you got. Don’t worry if the results were somewhat negative. A negative result can be ok, as long as you talk about what you learned from the experience and what you would do next time. Sometimes that can actually be a better answer because it demonstrates self awareness and that you learn from your mistakes. You can also adapt this technique to use for crafting a cover letter or to be able to talk about your experiences when in a networking situation.
You are literally the first person in 5 years I have heard saying, that the interview is NOT about technical skills, but purely about getting them to like you. As an introvert I feel completely fucked by this. I simply cannot be buddy-buddy with someone I just meet. But beeing aware that this is how it is, may make it easier.
Im an introvert aswell, please read Introvert VS confident you by Kristina Dawn, small book, will take you 2 hours to finish :) and you change your way of thinking, and acting :)
Pop your comfort bubble and get around more extroverted people. You'll start becoming more like them. You also are more likely an ambivert. Very few people fall under the extremes of hardcore introvert or extrovert. Most are ambiverts without realizing it. They don't even know it's an option. Anyone can learn to be more sociable.
Even being interviewed for software engineer jobs, the first person who interviews you is someone from HR. These people probably have never coded a day in their life.
Used Charlie's Q at the end of my job interview today and the head boss literally overheard and said "WOW. What a great question! Don't you think?! to the 2IC that was interviewing me". Also found out later on (today) that I got the job. Woot thanks Charlie haha.
Interviews are an interesting topic, because you have to be both very chilled out yet very confident. To prepare for it you could hit a punching bag for 20 mins and meditate afterwords. I know elliot Hulse has a term called "Tender aggression" which I think makes sense in an interview setting. Always get value from this channel, keep it up mate.
That is interestingly ironic because most of us get nervous when we think of being interviewed, when a 'chill, confident' state is the state we'd love to be in to begin with, don't we? ✨
The number 1 thing I've done to calm myself down and take control of the situation before an interview is to change my perspective. I am not JUST there for the company to see what I can contribute but also what the company can do for me. Because we want something of equal value this is less of an interview and more or a conversation between two parties.
I would add going to another interview first (if possible) ... ... My first one didn't work even though I tried to tell likeable stories. Neither did my second. I thought I would never get the job. But on the third one I managed to be myself, from all the experience I had gained. I finally got the job!
Just been to an interview for a graduate role and used your question at the end and the interviewer loved it. Just wanna say thanks man, really appreciate all this work you put into your content!
Hands down one of the most valuable, informative, and well-produced videos on TH-cam! Literally solves 99% of all interview frustrations, concerns, doubts, fears, and failures. Couldn't recommend this video more as someone who is responsible for hiring and has conducted interviews for hundreds of prospects. Keep this video saved, or start writing these tips out. You never know when you may need it, and its good to be ready!
Wow. I literally was just thinking about how to approach interviews because of this scholarship interview I have in a few days. Then I picked up my phone and saw the notification for this. Thanks!😊
I don't know how you guys do this, but I literally have a job interview tomorrow. Not even the first time you have been this on point. Thanks Charlie & Ben, you guys keep my charisma top notch when I most need it!
Love this video! As soon as I watched this video I went to Target, they interviewed me the same day, and the guy said I interviewed phenomenally and he gave me a job. This was my first ever interview and is my first ever job. Thanks!
I have watched multiple interview videos this week - so when I stumbled across yours I wasn’t sure what to expect. You stood out from the dozens of other videos because you were the only narrator who displayed the personality that matched the profession interview advice you were offering. Preparing stories in advance of pivotal moments through out my adult career was awesome advice that I plan to utilize at my next interview on June 22nd w/ the Philadelphia Eagles. My sincerest appreciation for your guidance and expertise - and your handsomeness and warm, inviting personality were equally as charming.
Charlie, I interview people day in and day out, and truly all I want to hear are stories of them being passionate, earnest, and kind. But very few tell stories, even when specifically prompted! Thank you for your video.
Got an interview today, and the problems I usually face are nerves on what I am actually going to say. But this video has helped massively on calming those nerves. Thank you and wish me luck.
How to get an interview: 1. Answer your phone 2. Show up for your interview on time. I'm not being silly but totally serious. I'm a manager that hires people on a regular basis. For a single position, I may look at 20-25 resumes. Less than half of the potential candidates will answer their phone. So follow step one and you'll be in the top half. Of the 10-12 prospects I contact by phone, only 4-5 will land an in person interview. Usually only 2 of those will show up ON TIME and dress PROFESSIONALLY. In short, following these two steps can put you in the top 90% of potential employees.
So I have been with the same company since my early 20s and haven't had an interview in over 17 years... After a couple quick preliminary interviews I was flowen in to interview with the entire leadership team from CEO, to EVP of Operations, EVP of Biz Dev & Sales, Director of Engineering and the CHRO. Prior to these interviews I found this video in the beginning of my research to prepare. Followed this process to the tee and was made an offer today for quite an incrase of money from what I was making previously. You got a few likes and new follower. Many thanks!
I’m here to say: THANK YOU!! I followed this video’s advice, with especial attention to the question at the end. I got the job, my first day is next week!! ☺️
I used your question to get my current job. The question prompted my interviewer to talk about something that gave us a connection. And I'd 100% credit it to being where I am now. Thank you.
I used these tips and my boss was blown away! he was laughing and celebrating and smiling the whole time! he loved that I had so much to say and did research on the job! thankyou so so much! half way through he was like "oh my god. where are you from? you are hired we need more like you!!"
I just did my interview. This really really helped. I was calm, did all the necessary prep and everything went so well. Hope I get the job. Thank you for these tips 🙏
Watched this video the day before my interview and did exactly what it said. The day after my interview I got the call to let me know I got the job!!!!!!!
I've found it helpful to step into the opposite role - practising interviewing people! Helps me understand the "other side of the table", and now I'm not only referring to strict business interviews. Broaden once perspective, even it doesn't always seem as the most efficient way to go about something, may turn out to give a whole new depth to an area. I think that's one of the drawbacks of always seeking to do "the right thing". As always, Thanks for your awesome content Charlie and Ben. HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYBODY, /Alexander
I love his authenticity. He's not afraid to tell us his vulnerable moments that goes from trivial to personal, and that makes him really relatable. Plus the laugh he has when remembering something is endearing haha
Great advice. I am changing careers in a big way. Going from Carpentry, for 27 years, to Psychology. Looking back at my life and not remembering an interview, great advice!
The part about not ignoring the receptionist was too true at my old workplace. I was the receptionist at a business where the CEO was my dad, and it was funny how unfriendly some people were to me until they found out I was the boss’s daughter. Now I run my own business, and this point actually still comes into play. With my receptionist background, I cover those duties and some people are so unnecessarily grouchy with me in that setting. It’s so funny to see their attitudes completely switch when they realize I’m also going to be the one treating them. If they happen to find out I’m the owner and have the power to give discounts, the shift in attitude is even better. Absolutely golden, haha!
I just had an interview today - it went well, but with these tips it would've gone even better! Loving your videos Charlie, they have helped me develop and respect myself so much for the past year!
Turning moments into a story is the golden key to interviews! I thank you kind sir as you helped me get my desired job, you are a gentleman and a scholar!
Thank you for this. Watched this video before an interview. One of their questions was, “ What did you do to prepare for this interview?” I told them the steps you gave us, because that is what I did. Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I just got my foot in the door of one of the companies I've wanted to work for for so long!!!!! It was all thanks to preparing these stories and getting my self in the right mindset by listening to my favorite podcaster I was able to nail the interview and offered a job on the spot!!!! This is the very first time this has happened and I truly believe it was because of these instructional tips!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
Thank you so much! I wish I saw this video a month ago for previous interviews I had😭 but this is so helpful. A thing that helped me when I was writing the list I looked at old letter of recommendations from past supervisors, co-workers, etc and looked at the adjectives they used to describe me and it lined up with the stories/moments I wrote down. They even wrote down qualities I did not notice that I had or the meaningful things I did to them when I was working that seemed like not a big deal to me. By doing this it makes my strengths seem stronger and I am more confident and saying them since I have a story for them and previous workers would agree or have similar stories of me.
One of my favorite interview questions to ask is: "What does success look like in this role?" Every time I have said that, the person I am interviewing is always caught off guard. They almost always say it's a great question, and it really is. I know others have said something similar, but it works because of a couple of things: 1) You're getting them to think about how THEY view the job. How they perceive it should be done. You end up getting "insider" information as they become potentially more open and direct about what the job details are. 2) It shows that you're asking smart and specific questions. You will usually stand out from the pack more or less. Also quick plug for Charisma University. It's a great course that I recommend you guys try.
Man you posted this video at just the right moment! I'm just about to begin my next job hunt. And everything you've highlighted hit on my previous experiences. I've even learned a few things from you which make a ton of sense, especially setting my interview responses up like a story. And I love that I now have the best possible go-to question to answer "do you have any questions for us?"
NUMBER 5 WORKED! I GOT A PLACE AT MY DREAM UNIVERSITY! I believe that question helped me to be more charismatic and to leave a good impression on the interviewer!! Thank you so much!! Xx
I've just paused at @2:35 to write this comment... because I realized that these advises will also work for Dating! I mean, date is kind of an interview, right? wow, this stuff is gold! Thanks!!!
Came across this video last night when my interview was for today. I did everything he said last night and it helped me so much in my interview. I feel like I wouldn’t have been fully prepped if I didn’t come across this video.
I legitimately had an interview today and searched for a video like this on this channel. Couldn't find much so i just watched the first impression videos again and body language related stuff. This was probably uploaded minutes after i actually started lol
I watched this before an interview about a week ago. Took some notes, and really applied them. At the interview they said I was their first interview, so they would get back to me in a week. The NEXT DAY they called me and said I went above and beyond all of their other interviews! Guess who just put in their two week notice at their current job??? 😁 Take this video seriously, some really good tips, especially with the stories. They asked multiple times for stories or examples, and I came prepared!
I was nervous before but did exceptionally well in a video interview a bit ago. Best advice is be yourself. Lastly , I said I like hockey and his very words were , "say no more i love hockey." Didn't feel like a regular interview it flowed and felt more like a conversation.
My method is very similar to yours. I come up with Problem Action Result (PAR). Then, I answer the question. This structure makes the interview super easy.
Charlie, my favourite video to date. Brilliant concept and you've addressed it so well. Wish I had someone tell me this back in college. Thanks immensely!
Just walked out of interview that was already going fairly well, but you should’ve seen them when I asked them that question of ‘how will you know you made the right decision’...told me it was a fantastic question 4 times!
can i just say thank you so much for this video and the comments that everyone is contributing. i just had a skype interview and was looking at this video right before hand (oops) but i still managed to have a few stories in mind before it started. the interviewer asked me a question about getting work done under stress and i was able to tell him a recent story. i could totally tell that he was interested and believed me and we engaged a lot more more naturally and shared what we're passionate about. by the end of it, he said i was awesome and i got to the next round of interviewing
I have a series of Interviews in for a scholarship in two days and it would literally improve my life so so much! Thus, I am hereby manifesting that I will get the scholarship and that everything will be fine at the end 😊 Thanks for your great advice!
Charlie, you are doing such a great job, thank you! I keep my English learning on track by watching your videos besides getting very useful business tips.
I feel like the choice of topic for this video came after I asked for advice on my Financial Risk Management interview about 3 weeks ago. haha It was so kind of you guys to reply to me. And I'm glad to see this video! Keep up the great work!

Pro tip, go to the gym before your interview. Obviously shower afterwards. The confidence boost is magic.
Birki gts A cold shower right?
Nah im fat and going to the gym makes my confidence drop to the ground
100%
I usually need a nap after going to the gym. No way I'd do that before an interview. After definitely.

Best tip for interviews: *DO NOT IMAGINE ANYONE NAKED.*

That would be great.
Good idea 👍
Just been to an interview for a graduate role and used your question at the end and the interviewer loved it. Just wanna say thanks man, really appreciate all this work you put into your content!

By doing this it makes my strengths seem stronger and I am more confident and saying them since I have a story for them and previous workers would agree or have similar stories of me.
I have an interview this Saturday ❤️ so glad this popped up!
Just wanted to update my interview went great and I was friendly to everyone etc and I got the call today that I got the job ❤️ thanks for the tips
Tabitha Lynn congrats
Followed the steps, it worked perfectly. I got the job today as a fresher.
You sir are a gift to humanity and i love you and God loves you
One of my favorite interview questions to ask is: "What does success look like in this role?"
Every time I have said that, the person I am interviewing is always caught off guard. They almost always say it's a great question, and it really is. I know others have said something similar, but it works because of a couple of things:
1) You're getting them to think about how THEY view the job.
I love this guy. He is really good at his job...
~ Awesome!
NUMBER 5 WORKED! I GOT A PLACE AT MY DREAM UNIVERSITY! I believe that question helped me to be more charismatic and to leave a good impression on the interviewer!! Thank you so much!! Xx
This video is so underappreciated, the detail in the order of the advice is giving, the ways of explaining each tip. Amazingly done..
I'm actually heading to an interview in about an hour! I'll use this! Thank you so much!!!
My dyslexic mind read how'd interview any Crush
Me too!!!
😂😂😂😂
Well I would wanna learn about this though 😂
I've just paused at @2:35 to write this comment... because I realized that these advises will also work for Dating! I mean, date is kind of an interview, right? wow, this stuff is gold! Thanks!!!
Same here, I'll always do that practice, zoom out myself and look for the bigger picture.
I'm convinced this guy has the best smile I've ever seen on a person.
Came across this video last night when my interview was for today. I did everything he said last night and it helped me so much in my interview. I feel like I wouldn’t have been fully prepped if I didn’t come across this video.
Just got the job because of your tips!!
I watched this video the day of my interview and I got a job that’s probably going to turn into a career for me! Thank you so much!
Thanks! I just used the question and tips today in a interview and I did great!
I asked that interview question at the job interview and I got the job. Year later Im still here and doing great job
Get them to think about you as being a brilliant decision on their part... love it!
I legitimately had an interview today and searched for a video like this on this channel. Couldn't find much so i just watched the first impression videos again and body language related stuff. This was probably uploaded minutes after i actually started lol
Watched this an hour before an interview. Applied tips. Walked out of interview with a job.
I watched this before an interview about a week ago. Took some notes, and really applied them. At the interview they said I was their first interview, so they would get back to me in a week. The NEXT DAY they called me and said I went above and beyond all of their other interviews! Guess who just put in their two week notice at their current job??? 😁
Take this video seriously, some really good tips, especially with the stories. They asked multiple times for stories or examples, and I came prepared!
That's splendid new, good luck with your new endeavors! Makes me hopeful for my soon to be interviews :p
@@vamparaz thank you so much! I am looking forward to the new job 😊
Best advice regarding this topic I've seen. Well done!
I went to federal job interviews last year without prepare, and failed.
Thank you for this video, I wrote down the stories, and got two offers
Just wanted to update my interview went great and I was friendly to everyone etc and I got the call today that I got the job ❤️ thanks for the tips
I went back to my history to find this video again. This video got me the job I want. Thank you.
I was nervous before but did exceptionally well in a video interview a bit ago. Best advice is be yourself. Lastly , I said I like hockey and his very words were , "say no more i love hockey." Didn't feel like a regular interview it flowed and felt more like a conversation.
this man and his team are the definition of the word badass
My method is very similar to yours. I come up with Problem Action Result (PAR). Then, I answer the question. This structure makes the interview super easy.
I just had my interview this morning... 😭 if only this came out yesterday haha
What was the interview for? if you don't mind me asking.
I understood that “Tell me about yourself” was only about your career path/achievements, etc.
Charlie, my favourite video to date. Brilliant concept and you've addressed it so well. Wish I had someone tell me this back in college. Thanks immensely!
~ Glad you're digging it!
Way to release this an hour after two of my interviews 😂😂😂. I landed one job on the spot though and i think i did okay on the other.
Congrats man!
This man never misses
I have a series of Interviews in for a scholarship in two days and it would literally improve my life so so much! Thus, I am hereby manifesting that I will get the scholarship and that everything will be fine at the end 😊 Thanks for your great advice!
One of the best videos I have seen for preparing for job interviews. Great job!
Charlie, you are doing such a great job, thank you! I keep my English learning on track by watching your videos besides getting very useful business tips.
One of the best video for interview preparation
I feel like the choice of topic for this video came after I asked for advice on my Financial Risk Management interview about 3 weeks ago. haha It was so kind of you guys to reply to me. And I'm glad to see this video! Keep up the great work!
Your recommended question is awesome - makes a great impression during interviews I've been on. Thank you for the suggestion!
