you should get a small workbench to avoid accidents , also the work on the board was pretty shoddy before.
hot air blower , mini PCB repair kit , JBC is best but cheaper good chinese ones availaible as well, a microscope for repair on PCBs is good idea as well as using Ampac flux, alcohol wipes
I had such a work bench in 2003, nowadays tools are better , and have more variety to make work easy and faster.

Plot twist!
The board's clearly suffered water damage before being stomped on and destroyed by the technician's boot. Never do a bullshit repair by making a modification. If you have to become the engineer to fix something you're on dangerous ground. Always replace a board with a new one and send the old one to the manufacturer or throw it away. If you modify something and there's a fire. Guess who everyone's going to blame?
