That is quite a compliment. Deborah Cox is so talented, I knew she could do this, and I thought she was an excellent choice. I'm not a total Whitney fan, although she was one of the best vocalists of her time and that time should have lasted longer for her. Deborah Cox did nothing wrong with that song. Nothing. But, no one really has that clear as a bell voice that Whitney had. There will never be another like Whitney in our lifetime, probably. And, there will never be another Donna Summer (who had such depth and richness to her powerful voice), or a Tina Turner.
I've said it a million times if Whitney Houston had a baby sister it would be Deborah Cox to me Deborah Cox has the closest vocal range like a baby sister of Whitney she is the only artist to me that does the best covers of Whitney Houston.
Wait! WHO is singing "I Have Nothing"? Oh, it's Deborah Cox. Okay then...I'll allow it! ((ME: EVERY TIME)) 😂 And this is EXACTLY why! She does Whitney inflections SO well, yet her TONE is SO uniquely hers! ✨👌🏾She sustains notes beautifully and times her vibrato just right...The whole thing just WORKS! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
that song was whoopin her arse.... Im not hating... if you could ask her, she would say the same... that is not an easy song, only WHITNEY can handle all of the moments in this song.... everybody that sings this song, sounds out of breath and be straining by the second chorus... that song is a beast.... love Deborah Cox all the same though....
This is a tribute to the songwriter duh David Foster, you guys can give a negative analysis for no reason. Whitney Houston did it better because it's her song🥱
She does a hell of a good job at Whitney s songs, even though u can tell she's doing it of course in her lower deeper range than Whitney s version....but she definitely has Whitney s emotion and style and close enough to Whitney s range as she could do within a tone key lower than Whitney s version
Wow - Deborah Cox's voice is stunning, and this is one of the BEST renditions out there (2nd only to Glennis') - but you realize this song was written for Whitney Houston. Whenever others sing it, there's always something off - Whitney had a groove and a lightness to her voice, yet it was thick and heavy at the same time. So, it's hard to out-do that. I thought I would love hearing Deborah sing Whitney Houston, but actually, I like Deborah singing her own songs better.
I’m a Whitney-or-nothing person, but Deborah is the exception.

Cece Winans too. Cece voice is similar to Whitney. If you listen to Count on me by Cece and Whitney, you can hear they sound alike.
SING LEGEND. Love you Deb. Blessed to sing with you. You deserve it all
she made the song her own giving it her own twist and turns Canadian excellence.
She is a beautiful underrated singer!
