There is actually an incredible amount of world building and attention to detail in these films. Like how the different towns communicate with each other. You can see them using mirrors to shine light at each other. They also use flares to send messages. Maggots are used to clean wounds since they eat gangrenous flesh while leaving healthy flesh alone, and secrete a chemical that induces blood clotting and prevents wounds from bleeding out. They're also a good source of protein. It's safer to eat maggots living off of corpses than the corpses. George Miller was a doctor so he probably thought about that. The guy who calls Dementus scum for killing his men was the Octoboss so he does betray Dementus and goes rogue. Immortan Joe's other son Scrotus is the villain in the Mad Max game.
The reason why Furiosa doesn't just take off sooner is because the War Rig isn't just sitting on the ground waiting to be driven at any time. They make it clear that all of the vehicles are pulled up into the Citadel and only lowered to the ground when they are needed. It takes several people to operate the wheel that raises and lowers the platform, and the War Rig is massive. Additionally, she needed the extra tanker of gas to trade with the bikers in exchange for safe passage through the canyon and for them to blow up the passage so they can't be followed. If Immortan Joe was able to follow them to the Green Place, it would have been raided. She also needed time to make sure that Immortan Joe completely trusted her so she could pull it off. She learned in Furiosa that she's better off biding her time, learning the rules of road war, making deals, and creating allegiances, before taking off. About the blood bags: Mad Max is a post apocalyptic setting, and as such radiation is a concern. You see Nux talking about the two lumps he has in his neck as well. The War Boys are probably riddled with radiation associated cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, and as such might need the blood transfusions to keep themselves going, even if just a little bit longer.
What continuity? Each films are narrated by a character who has a different interpretation of who Max was and what he did. Shows how much you actually understand the character
And it's not entirely clear when it takes place because the game devs kinda did their own thing without regard for the Fury Road movie. They used some of the same things obviously, but otherwise as far as I know it's separate from the movies. 🤷♂️

Elvis claims he 100 percented the Mad Max video game but doesn't know Scabrous Scrotus, one of Immortan Joe's sons, is the main villain you defeat. That's why he doesn't appear in Fury Road. Because he dies in the game. C'mon Elvis!
For anyone curious. Goober or Gyro Captain in Mad Max 2 and Jebediah are actually just two different characters played by the same actor Bruce Spence. Miller probably just liked the guy and said "you look like a guy crazy enough to fly shit in the post apocalypse"
Reality: F*CK NO!!!!! Because it turns out the audience does not like it when you bring in a secondary character in a film franchise that is named after the main character.
@@JustTooDamnHonest I mean the mad max movies were less about him and more about random people desperately trying to survive the worst of the apocalypse max just happened to be there
In Furiosa, the man with the Black Horns does retaliate against Dementus. Its why the build the War Rig. He splits away from Dementus and starts raiding the road to Gastown. That's why he is attacking the War Rig before Dementus decides to take over the Citadel
The cinema is dead, I can see this being the most popular movie on whatever streaming service it ends up on for weeks. The box office isn't a good metric for a film's quality any more if it ever was to begin with
Really? Good for you, because for me that movie was awfully bad in comparison to the others. Just as bad and almost as boring as Mad Max 3. Seeing her as a child was better than seeing her as Anya, tbh
Nux went through an incredible journey in the movie: originally a comic relief lackey blindly following Immortan's orders, he grew into a brave, yet tragic hero who sacrificed himself for the people he was to hand over to the Cult. Nick was so great and hilarious, makes sense it's one of the roles that catapulted him to stardom.
Did you actually watch the 1st one all the way through? Sprog appears early on at breakfast playing with Max's gun. Also, one of the 2 mechanics we never see again is actually Goose. Sorry, I'm a bit obsessed with this movie
Elvis often gets the details of movies wrong. I don’t think he pays attention when he watches things. Honestly it really annoys me when I catch it. But it’s not like I watch him for a definitive summary of things.
Sometimes the stuff that doesn't make any sense to Elvis just doesn't make sense to me lol. Like Furiosa being able to know what to say to her old tribe to get them to reveal themselves. Her entire life was about getting back home, her one goal since she was a child. Why would she not know what to say
also the turbo inside tornado, they have shutting valves at the front as clearly shown in a later scene, where furiosa uses sand to put out the fire on the truck, once the sand clears the valves open to breathe air (thats one of my favourite scenes)
"Rule of cool over everything" is the best way I've ever heard these movies described. They're overwritten, quirky, bizzare.... All on PURPOSE. Its a specific vision to tell a specific story that feels a certain way when you watch it. Its all intentional.
The high octane line was the warboy selling the idea of attaching Max to the car so he could go to war since his assistant guy had tried to take over as driver. Also the vault wasn't locked, you can see Joe just turn the dial to run in there when he realizes what had happened.
The reason you don't see Scrotus die in this movie, is because you kill him in the video game, also Chumbucket from the video game makes a brief appearance as well The guy in all black that says "you are scum" is the same guy who has the cool parachute. Hes the Octoboss. After the scene where Dementus kills his troops he leaves Dementus. When you see him again is when he and his men try to take the war rig and he dies with his cool parachute. He might have been trying to steal the war rig to get back at Dementus
Hey so car girl here. What he is referring to as "The Last of the V8s" is that is the last XB Falcon to have a V8 before the next model. Which was a let down compared to the XB model. (Or in this world, the world ends before the next Falcon model, but it still makes sense with the guys in Mad Max one somewhat remembering society pre apoc) Enjoy this fact ❤️ (Like my Subaru Forester is the last "real" foresters, more a sports car than soccer mum car) Just a confusing terminology but it makes sense to the mind of car lovers.
@@VeXeDZEROIts got me thinking now just when the Mad Max world "ends" as the difference from say Mad Max 1 and 3 is pretty damn drastic. Probably 15-20 post apoc at least.

It's not really an air filter, but the war rig is shown to have kind of flaps that open an close when needed. When they put out the fire with sand the flaps open after as in to breathe, which is pretty neat
In regards to your point at 1:15:50, Dementus's second-in-command (aka the guy with horns) abandons him along with a bunch of other guys to form a totally separate gang. They're the ones who attacked the war rig.
One of the most disturbing details about the original Mad Max I just noticed this week: the couple that gets attacked by Toecutter's gang get split up. Later on Max and his partner see the young man running scared through a field without pants on... The blood trail on his butt crack fucks me up
Yeah they actually come across him first before they come up to the smashed car. I was 8 when I first seen the first mad max, and know they not only rape the girl but the guy too.
You are misunderstanding the sand storm. Nothing that happens in that scene is as it seems. We are seeing it from Nux's perspective as he is getting adrenaline from Max's blood as well as having sprayed a drug into his mouth that makes the Warboys berserk. Also, the men on stilts are the men that have been banished from the female society where Furiosa grew up. That used to be the Green Place but the water became irradiated. Furiosa didn't give any kind of password to the woman in the tower. She merely told them who she is and who her mother was.
It's a travesty Elvis mentioned Lord Humungous' (The Warrior of the Wasteland and The Ayatollah of Rock-n-Rolla btw) hype man losing his fingers to the feral child's boomerang but not Wes (the mohawk guy) watching his pet twink (Golden Youth) get killed by the boomerang and getting so worked up that Lord Humungous straight up has to choke him out to stop him from going crazy

1:14:18 Nah, nah, nah. Listen, I had the exact same complaint you did. Until I rewatch the movie. After their car crashes, pay attention to the background, it is the coolest shit ever. It's those little details that make me love this movie even more.
Fun fact george miller got the idea for fury road all the way back in the 90s while crossing a street and thought what if mad max but just one big car chase and put the ideas in a napkin and the rest was history
I realized the leather jacket from Fallout was a Mad Max reference just recently, when I watched Road Warrior for the first time. Basically I got the reference in the wrong order.
This video presents itself as a celebration of Mad Max, but 90% of the content reads like Cinema Sins. I wish we were more inclined to focus on what makes movies like these so special. Compulsive cynicism is boring.
A lot of the stuff he points out as "not making sense" is actually explained in the movies too, if he just paid a little more attention. I have ADHD and somehow caught all of these details, so I don't know what his excuse is.
2 things: Octoboss does leave Dementus' gang, theyre the ones who attack the Rig in The Stowaway chapter And The Citadel is way above ground, all Vehicles need to be lowered on contraptions.
I was pissed off at seeing Furiosa’s box office returns. George Miller pours his heart into each film, and I know it’s become the new marketing model to from theatre to streaming in the matter of a few weeks, but there is a HUGE distinction between seeing Mad Max on a home screen vs at a theatre.
Well maybe next time Miller should've created a Furoisa franchise and not inject her into a franchise that is named after the main character people get pissed off at that. So next time maybe the studios should have more faith in creating something new.
By the time I found out about this movie it was no longer playing in theaters. I wish I would of knew it was even made lol I for sure would of seen it in theaters. I don’t have any tv providers I only have TH-cam tv. Because tv has became garbage and just plays the same things over and over.
In Road Warrior, the "feral kid" character is the narrator at the beginning and the end. The Road Warrior is essentially a story about a man long dead by the time the feral kid is an old man. Hence, the "he lives now only in my memories" line. Which always gives me chills, BTW. Great line.
Goober isn't the same character in both movies. Same actor and both characters use flight as their main characteristic, but Miller has said they are two different people in the Mad Max lore.
there's another carryover among the actors... the guy who plays benno (the big... special... guy at may's farm) is also the bearded victim on the front of humungus's truck. and then there is hugh keays-byrne, as toecutter and immortan joe.
Dude, they show Max with his baby son right after the opening car chase. Jessie is playing the saxophone and Max is sitting on the kitchen table with Sprog while having a beer. Then the next morning, they show the baby playing with a real-looking gun while Jessie and Max are talking in the kitchen.
So about Master: He IS intelligent, he was the one who devised the methane power system, and was speaking in pidgin only until after he escaped Aunty, when he began talking normally. A theory is he speaks in pidgin to trick others into thinking he wouldn't be able to explain how the engineering works, which gave him an added layer of security. Also, the Gyro Captain from Road Warrior and Jedediah from Thunderdome are two separate people played by the same actor, same as how Hugh Keays-Byrne plays Toecutter and Immortan Joe, and how Josh Helman plays Slit in Fury Road and Sabrous Scrotus in Furiosa.
Elvis, you being a goober, the guy with the horns is the same guy who rides with the tentacles parachute, he also makes his gang turn on dementus. The cold of the theatre made you mad!
Also it does require a lot of people to let them access the garage in the citadel since the garage is at the top inside the cliffs. Without immortal joe’s approval it would’ve been impossible!
I am still laughing about the grapple hook. "They didn't think that one through very well" Then seeing a hooptie car dragged and flying through the air cracked me up.
Hugmungus and the Mohawk guy’s eyes bulge out when they crash into each other at the end of the car chase. I’m surprised Elvis didn’t catch that and bring it up in the video too lol 😆. The eye bulging is special to this franchise and I love it because it’s hilarious 😂.
Yes in the first mad max when his son is playing in the floor while him and his wife are talking and the scene goes to the baby. You actually see him playing with a revolver (a hand gun) incase you don’t know what that is. Iv always wondered if the slow older guy in the first mad max on the farm . If he was blaster in thunder dome. They look alike also it would explain also why he seemed so shocked not only was blaster slow but took maxs mind back to on the farm in the first one.
the thing that makes me love these movies even more is that there is a theory that the fury road max is not the same max from the first 3 movies and the name max is more so like a title given over the ages to legendary people of the wastelands that have done something worth being immortalized
In other words, Max is not a name but a title. There's also a theory to suggest Max in Fury Road is actually the feral boy from Road Warrior, which to an extent would make sense
For non Australians, fang it is a slang term meaning like full throttle in a motor vehicle. Also as someone with tinnitus I really appreciate the ringing being left out of the first Mad Max, the ringing that is put in films actually makes my tinnitus play up and ring louder for a short amount of time
Is this Elvis' audition tape to be the new narrator for Cinema Sins? Also, "Goober" is not the same character in the third movie. It's the same actor playing two different characters, which is why his teeth are different, he dresses better, and has a son. It's also made pretty obvious by how he and max talk to each other like they don't know each other.
27:12 max was travelling with the camels until the goober and his kid knocked him off and took the carriage and camels for themselves. max was looking to get back his camels
Naa I agree, 2nd is best, 3rd is comical, 1st is grounded, fury is spectacle and furiousa I haven't seen. I love all of them, that's how I see them. There's a film for any mood you're in and there's no disappointment.
@@jeffsantos93 I agree, but I'm 37,i was raised on these by pops when mom worked. The 2nd and 3rd became for some reason the 1st wasn't played much? @@jeffsantos93 Fury Road is good no doubt about it, but I just wish they would’ve focused more on Max himself. The Road Warrior was fantastic in every aspect. Just the pure raw and gritty feeling of it. The score, the practical effects and you can’t beat Mel Gibson as Mad Max. Much love to Tom Hardy as I think he’s a phenomenal actor but Mel Gibson is the only Mad Max in my eyes.
The gyro captain and Jedidiah are two different characters. They are played by the same actor and have similar traits, but they are different characters. I do agree, it is confusing.
Loved mad max, my dad had alot of the movies on vcr and still does just no vcr player. Loved the game played it with my nephew awhile back and always wanted to go back and finish it
About the single tree in the mud in fury road. Well, they are close to the original green place, where dead trees are common, so it's not impossible. Secondly, it's a metaphor for the green place. A single plant that is their last hope that they cling on and get themselves out of danger. Lastly, what's wrong with pushing the war rig? What if the little human push is the last bit it needed to get out of that situation? I mean what else can furiosa do? Stand aside and pray?
8:03 Elvis has a funny way of saying stuff sometimes. When he sees a naked mannequin, he calls it "A mannequin of a naked woman". 😅😅 It doesn't make any sense at all, but most people probably knew what he meant.
I enjoyed the video but there's a lot of small things you either missed or got wrong. Mainly details of the original films or mistakes in editing. One example being the wrong character being shown when nicholas hoult is named. He played Nux not the Staple mouth guy. Another is that the baby DOES show up before the Junkyard, I think you either weren't paying attention to the film or didn't realize it was their kid (somehow) These are minor but in the future I would suggest paying a little more attention to the films or doing a little more research into them and including that in the overall Essay
Had to laugh when elvis said it was freezing in the cinema at 25 degrees 😂I’m from Scotland and we are lucky if we get that in the summer for a few days 😂😂
at the end of the second movie the wildling said that when he grew up to be their leader(he was the narrator btw) they never saw max again. The gyro captain is presumably already done leading the settlers and that wildling is their leader in the third film, also why max had to be 48 as to continue the timeline. Having lost his only real friend, despite max being an asshole the whole time lmao, he’d probably wanna know if he’s doing alright
*Elvis:* "I wholeheartedly think Fury Road is one of the greatest action flicks ever made" *Also Elvis:* Proceeds to be even more insufferably nitpicky than CinemaSins and trash every aspect of it
1:16:10 So for Elvis and Everyone wondering, Scrotus is actually the Main Villain in the Mad Max 2015 Game that takes place before Fury Road and after Furiosa since Scrotus is older. If you haven't played the game, play it. It's great. In the game's intro Max shoves a chainsaw blade in Scrotus' Head and he survives. So in Furiosa we're basically seeing a Young Scrotus. That's why his not in Fury Road. It was a way to Canonize the 2015 Game. Play the game. It's unironically great.
Saw Furiousa last week remembered how much I loved Fury road and proceeded to buy the game...best purchase of my life. Also can we just appreciate how good of a reboot Fury road is compared to the original trilogy? One of the best out there in my opinion.
I also binged the entirety of Mad Max and the baby in the original movie was right in the beginning playing with a GUN, and then they showed him playing with his aunt or something. Probably you watched a different cut, cause the baby was there.

Hey, landscaper here, but I’ve spent time doing machine maintenance with our in-house mechanic. Speaking on the killswitch, it’s usually connected to a battery, so you couldn’t start it with the killswitch off, and with the killswitch on, the battery would be connected to the starter. Maybe this killswitch is equivalent to the gas shutoff, meaning the gas in the tube would still propel the engine, but preventing gas going from the tank to the tube. However. This is usually a more hefty switch, like a lever. Not just a mechanical “click-click” on/off switch. I’ve started a mower with the gas switch off before, only for it to sputter out. So it KINDA checks out. Hope someone reads this after this video’s been out for so long.
1:16:01 watch the movie again. They mention the octoboss betrayed dementus by abandoning him. When furiosa fights him later in the film it’s after he has left dementus and is on his own.
Love the video, couple of things tho. The reason furiosa turns off while still in view is because she was heading in to the buzzard territory as a distraction for the war party, plus we can see through corpus collossus' telescope that the whole road to gastown is in clear view. Also the war boy on the war rig with furiosa mentions that Joe called for reinforcements from gastown and the bullet farm with the flares!
My only complaint is how they treated the black on black (the interceptor v8) that car is iconic as a lightsaber but get done dirty twice being destroyed at the beginning both times

It might be where the little girl is from too!
For anyone curious. Goober or Gyro Captain in Mad Max 2 and Jebediah are actually just two different characters played by the same actor Bruce Spence. Miller probably just liked the guy and said "you look like a guy crazy enough to fly shit in the post apocalypse"
Thought that was common knowledge but I guess the dentist joke says otherwise.
Yeah I didn't think they were meant to be the same guy

In Furiosa, the man with the Black Horns does retaliate against Dementus. Its why the build the War Rig. He splits away from Dementus and starts raiding the road to Gastown. That's why he is attacking the War Rig before Dementus decides to take over the Citadel
the release of furiosa is so sad because I genuinely beleive that its an amazing movie. It deserved better
Exactly. The good news is though it will forever hold cult classic status.
It was so good, and I'm so disappointed that it didn't get the box office success that it deserved!
Good movie that came out at the wrong time. If the well wasn’t so poisoned by all these woke movies before it, it would’ve done better. A real shame 😢
I saw a theory once that Humungus was Fifi, and the gang was made up of former Main Force cops

It's theorized Master talked that way so that Blaster could understand whenever he spoke.
These films were so influential that they inspired the general look and environments of Fist of the Northstar.
That plus the entire Fallout and Borderlands series!
@@kyju7093 Ridiculous looking clothes, scavenging, protagonist helping people from town to town and soon becoming a myth
The high octane line was the warboy selling the idea of attaching Max to the car so he could go to war since his assistant guy had tried to take over as driver. Also the vault wasn't locked, you can see Joe just turn the dial to run in there when he realizes what had happened.
The reason you don't see Scrotus die in this movie, is because you kill him in the video game, also Chumbucket from the video game makes a brief appearance as well
The guy in all black that says "you are scum" is the same guy who has the cool parachute.
(Or in this world, the world ends before the next Falcon model, but it still makes sense with the guys in Mad Max one somewhat remembering society pre apoc)
Enjoy this fact ❤️

Fun fact, the cut your foot off or die moment is actually the single moment that inspired saw.
I’m pretty sure the guy in all black who yells at Dementus is the guy with the octopus parachute thing, they mention that he betrayed Dementus when they attack the war rig (I think that was still when Dementus and Immortan Joe were allied, so he was trying to steal from them) Great video though!
yes you are correct, his name is octoboss lol
Elvis, remember that terrible Winnie the pooh horror film? Well, it now has a sequel. PLEASE REVIEW IT!!!
I hate to ask, but is it any better than the original at least by a tiny bit?
It's not really an air filter, but the war rig is shown to have kind of flaps that open an close when needed. When they put out the fire with sand the flaps open after as in to breathe, which is pretty neat
In regards to your point at 1:15:50, Dementus's second-in-command (aka the guy with horns) abandons him along with a bunch of other guys to form a totally separate gang. They're the ones who attacked the war rig.
@planetoffkey4337 This one was pretty bad considering that it was mentioned explicitly via *dialogue* in the movie lol.
Fun lil tidbit about the war boys doing the v-sign hand gesture, their fingers are linked together in a way that resembles an 8-cylinder engine
One of the most disturbing details about the original Mad Max I just noticed this week: the couple that gets attacked by Toecutter's gang get split up. Later on Max and his partner see the young man running scared through a field without pants on... The blood trail on his butt crack fucks me up
Yeah that really stuck out to me, surprised nobody else mentioned it
Yeah they actually come across him first before they come up to the smashed car.
Isn’t that drug you’re referring to just literal spray paint? 🤣
Damn this man went outside and said "Too hot" and sat down on the couch for an entire series.

Half of this video is just the editor correcting him 😂
Immortan Joe’s third son Scrotus appears in the 2015 Mad Max video game as the main antagonist. It’s a really nice Easter egg that canonizes the game.
technically the game isn't fully canon, but it is another chapter in the campfire stories that are the Mad Max saga
One of Max's helpers from the game, Chumbucket, even has a small cameo
The guy who cut this video should get a raise
I realized the leather jacket from Fallout was a Mad Max reference just recently, when I watched Road Warrior for the first time. Basically I got the reference in the wrong order.
the jacket, the double-barrelled shotgun, and dogmeat. they all date back to the original fallout, from the 90s.
This video presents itself as a celebration of Mad Max, but 90% of the content reads like Cinema Sins.
I wish we were more inclined to focus on what makes movies like these so special. Compulsive cynicism is boring.
CinemaSins was what I thought of too
A lot of his nitpicks can be also explained if he actually pays attention to what he's seeing, or just plain common sense and connecting the dots.
A lot of the stuff he points out as "not making sense" is actually explained in the movies too, if he just paid a little more attention. I have ADHD and somehow caught all of these details, so I don't know what his excuse is.
Agree!!!

My jaw dropped.
Elvis: I 100%-ed the game.
Also Elvis: Joe has this new child and I'm surprised they didn't show him die.
I wonder why.
I was going to say the same thing but your on top of it lol.
there's another carryover among the actors... the guy who plays benno (the big... special... guy at may's farm) is also the bearded victim on the front of humungus's truck. and then there is hugh keays-byrne, as toecutter and immortan joe.
The editing went crazy in this video. Amazing work holy
Dude, they show Max with his baby son right after the opening car chase. Jessie is playing the saxophone and Max is sitting on the kitchen table with Sprog while having a beer. Then the next morning, they show the baby playing with a real-looking gun while Jessie and Max are talking in the kitchen.
1:05:40 immortal Joe has a line “clear the rocks and follow” and has 3 war parties all doing that with vehicles
Toecutter is a slang term that refers to a criminal that extorts other criminals.
12:39 a lot of the bikes were "borrowed" from a local dealer that expected them back in WORKING order, lol
I'm so glad your making a mad max video, my favorite movie series
Hugmungus and the Mohawk guy’s eyes bulge out when they crash into each other at the end of the car chase.
I’m surprised Elvis didn’t catch that and bring it up in the video too lol 😆.
The eye bulging is special to this franchise and I love it because it’s hilarious 😂.
There's a scene early in the first movie where Max is at home with his wife and you see their baby there
Also the gyrocopter pilot in Thunderdome is actually a different character than the last film, they just reused the actor
You just made my bummer saturday so much better, thank you Elvis
the thing that makes me love these movies even more is that there is a theory that the fury road max is not the same max from the first 3 movies and the name max is more so like a title given over the ages to legendary people of the wastelands that have done something worth being immortalized
27:12 max was travelling with the camels until the goober and his kid knocked him off and took the carriage and camels for themselves. max was looking to get back his camels
also goober in mad max 2 and 3 arent the same guy theyre a different character just the same actor
Master was needed as he knew how to run the methane system for Bartertown.
I was about to start searching for Mad Max videos!!! My search ended before it began! 😊
The way that the citadel signaled gas town is by mirrors. You can see the mirror being reflected from gas town when they show it

I'm glad you set this video up the way you did. I was able to pause before any spoilers.

Another is that the baby DOES show up before the Junkyard, I think you either weren't paying attention to the film or didn't realize it was their kid (somehow)
These are minor but in the future I would suggest paying a little more attention to the films or doing a little more research into them and including that in the overall Essay

So for Elvis and Everyone wondering, Scrotus is actually the Main Villain in the Mad Max 2015 Game that takes place before Fury Road and after Furiosa since Scrotus is older.

I also binged the entirety of Mad Max and the baby in the original movie was right in the beginning playing with a GUN, and then they showed him playing with his aunt or something. Probably you watched a different cut, cause the baby was there.
The nitpicking in this one is insane !

Here's hoping George Miller makes his next planned Mad Max movie even though the chances are slim regarding Furiosa's box office.
Furiosa bombed. Not Mad Max. There's a clear difference

1:16:01 watch the movie again. They mention the octoboss betrayed dementus by abandoning him. When furiosa fights him later in the film it’s after he has left dementus and is on his own.
The henchman in black actually betrays dementus and creates his own gang, it's mentioned later in the movie.
But the Black on Black she always come back.

Yeah, but that’s the good thing about the interceptor. It always comes back lol.
