    Traction control and vsc saved my life one day and my young son. It stays ON. I was not going to make the bend, in slushy snow and there was a lorry coming the other way. My Land Cruiser said “oh no you don’t!” Took control for what seemed like an eternity, but we stayed on the right side of the road and continued safely. Leave it switched ON, folks.

    Living in Canada, just this past winter I was driving my 13 Camry through 1 foot of snow, with good Michelin snow tires and keeping the traction control OFF in snow, and ON in freezing rain and ice in the city. If you drive in winter with bald back tires the stability control is going to save you from doing a 360....its going to scare you but it will save you!

    This was helpful. I really want to turn off that dynamic collision control. When someone moves in to my lane directly in front of me on the freeway and we are all going the speed limit the Toyota system puts on the brakes and takes over the gas/electric and my RAV$ suddenly is making everyone behind me slam on their brakes.

    Driving on soft beach sand the vehicle will often loose power as the traction control system applies the brakes to stop wheels spinning and the car is more likely to stop completely or get bogged, very noticeable on gradual accents. This feature of “traction control on” is more common with the small SUV’s that have limited power.

    And ...tcs works in 4hi but is deactivated in 4lo. Then trac or a trac can be used or multi terrain select. Also in 4lo, engine output is NOT interfered with. This is a very important difference in situations where engine,output interference would cause problems like needing wheel spin or momentum in bad situations.

    Did not understand how this worked. First time I drove our 2018 Explorer in slight snow it would not move. If you tried to give it gas it would go to idle. Called dealer and he said to get traction, cut traction control off. Ya, that makes sense. That is what I had to do to move. Our selector is in the screen and you must do 2 steps at least to get to it. As far as I am concerned it is a hazard and I am glad I do not need to drive in snow in this thing.

    I turn off traction control when I'm stopped at icy intersections. When trying to move from a stop the traction control will actually do the opposite. No matter what wheel is torqued on ice when starting from a stop, it will spin in place. I turn off traction control and miraculously the computer stops "helping" me and I can smoothly begin to move.
    Traction control is good when you're already moving and lose an edge. It will help correct.

    • @oldmillrd8153
      @oldmillrd8153 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No. It should be on for most normal driving. Turn it off to maintain power to your wheels under adverse conditions in sand, mud, snow and ice while going slow or stopped and/or going up hill. Turn it back on once you're moving again. Bottom line, keep it on 95% of the time.

    Why would you ever turn it off. If you live in a area that can be wet or icy or snowy conditions you don't want to leave turning it on at the last minute. Always be safe when driving.

    You probably don’t know that traction control turns on automatically at a certain speed say 20 mph even if you turned it off!
