  • It’s haul out time for Sea Dream of Clyde! In this one, we head to Newcastle Marine in Nanaimo to have the boat lifted out of the water and moved into the shipyard for our by-annual painting and general maintenance. I show the wet sanding technique we use that is SO much better than dry sanding, we paint the haul, wax the top side, and paint the propellor.
We get some help waxing the haul from our friends Kevin (who you will see in the upcoming Neah Bay to San Fran videos) and Willow. Kevin also builds a new lid for the diesel day tank box on the deck of Sea Dream, something I had been meaning to do for a long time!
After the weekend out of the water, Sea Dream is relaunched and we head to the Nanaimo Yacht Club to do some more chores as we get set for offshore sailing.
Thanks so much for tuning in!

Newcastle put you in our spot, the coloured paint on the pavement is where we marked our chain. Awe, like old times ☺ Isn't being on the hard fun!

It is most certainly my go to! Great laidback yard, and lowest cost on the coast by quite a bit as far as I know. Cheers! See you down in Mexico!

    Why did you choose Newcastle?

It is the least expensive yard that I know of with no hidden or annoying fees (there are tarp use fees at Stones up the channel!). If you need a dab of primer or something like that, they sort you out, and they have a small selection of essentials to purchase priced at, or below the marine store prices. Also, Nanaimo is my home town, so it's nice having friends and family around, too!
