Sailing Sea Dream of Clyde
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 26 มี.ค. 2015
Here you will find videos of young(ish) folks sailing aboard a 1979 Westerly Discus sailboat around the west coast of North America and soon, beyond. We focus on making videos centered around the sailing aspects of our trips, showing folks around the nice places where we anchor, plus occasional bits of natural history, as well as local knowledge we have picked up over the years.

Single-Handed Sailing Up The BAJA Coast | Staging To Cross The Sea - Ep. 86
The solo adventure continues! In this one, Trevor starts off with a spicy little sail out of Puerto Escondido, then heads off to some of our favorite spots around the Loreto area. Variable winds make for some challenging sailing on the way to Loreto and Isla Coronados. As the unsettled weather continues, some rain hits SDOC for the first time in months! Finally, Trevor makes it to San Jaunico where he takes care of some boat chores and awaits a weather window to cross the Gulf of California to San Carlos on the mainland side.

Love seeing the sailing and especially our favourite anchorage of San Juanico…can I respectfully suggest you improve your pronunciation of the Spanish terms. The vowels have specific sounds …for example Juanico is pronounced with using a long ‘e’ sound for the ‘I’ …Juan eee co. …Bah ee a for Bahia etc
Hi Sue, We're glad you're enjoying the videos! We can't believe we didn't hop up to San Jaunico until the very end of the season! We appreciate your feedback on our Spanish pronunciations. It's been a slow journey learning, and we have found that the cruisers life has made it a slow process since we are so rarely in towns and around Spanish speakers. That said, we've stepped up our game this season and are doing daily lessons on a great app called Mango from our library! Cheers!
@SailingSeaDreamofClyde totally get the learning curve. We purposefully put ourselves in situations that require us to use our meager spanish. There is a great TH-cam channel called Butterfly Spanish and in one of her earlier ones she goes over how to say the vowels. My personal nemesis are the numbers.. Working hard on those!
We'll check it out! Cheers!

Congratulations! Wishing you both the very best. I've really enjoyed all your videos. Impressive to see an auld Discus fae Scotland looking in tip top condition. She's clearly taking good care of you both. The bees!!! Thankfully don't get those on the Firth of Forth!
Thank you, and we're glad you enjoy the videos! Lots more coming as we start the journey home to British Columbia in the spring via Hawaii and Alaska. We feel lucky to have found Sea Dream in such nice condition and do indeed continue the legacy of keeping well cared for! Cheers from Baja!
@SailingSeaDreamofClyde looking forward to seeing them. Fair winds!
Congratulations on your engagement! Happy birthday Kat!
Thanks!!! 😊
Can you plz bring some of those fish tacos home with you next time? k, thanks :D haha
Haha! I'll email you some!
Thanks again Trevor and Cat for the nice video!
Our pleasure! Cheers fellow Discus owner!
Nicely done. If you download the Lavac manual, you'll find several installation variations. You can avoid the fill the bowl to empty the holding tank by flipping that lower valve around and thereby be able to use the single pump to actually pump out the tank. Mine has been going for 20 years and I still think Lavac is the best all around system. Have enjoyed your content .. hope you keep them coming!
I'll look into that. I certainly don't love the current pump out method! It seems that Lavac systems are rare in North America, so I had never seen one until I bought Sea Dream of Clyde. Like you, I am most certainly sold on it! Compared to the Jabsco heads, Lavac are most certainly superior, indeed. Lots more content coming! We are back to weekly videos now, so watch for new ones on Thursdays. Cheers! -Trevor
Cute
Thanks again for saving us on our paddle boards! couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous it was😂 you're a legend!
We we're happy to help! That little fetch on P.E sure can kick up a nasty chop!
Looks like milky crude oil.
That slime that developed overnight on your boat... I've seen that stuff before. It was definitely ectoplasm. If you'd like to learn more about it, look up the documentary movie from the '80s, Ghostbusters.
Haha! I ain't scared of no ghost!
Your videos are beautiful guys, we really look forward to them. It’s so different from where we sail! Happy sailing and safe travels😊.
We're glad you enjoy and appreciate the comment! We're back to weekly videos, so keep an eye for the next one soon!
Wow, beautiful scenery. Great catch on the Dorado and great job sailing on and off anchor.
Thanks! We're now about to set off again for the season. Lots of exciting videos coming up. Cheers!
White Spot Pirates blog which I also follow are some to the south of you. Cheers maybe you meet up. Bye Casper
I'll look them up! Cheers!
Nice video! Could you please share more info about "Chica" Marina, please. We will be in that area in a few weeks. Thanks in advance!
It's the small basin within the Puerto Escondido marina. Depending on what slip one is assigned, it can be tight to get into, but it is so nice and quiet back there, so it's worth the trouble in my mind. Also, as of February this year, the water was not metered in the chica basin, so you save some cash, too! If you'd like a less expensive option, the mooring field is pleasant. There is a weekly rate that is much less than daily. If you opt for the mooring field, you can fill up on potable water at the fuel dock either by pulling your up or with jugs. Enjoy your time around Loreto. It's a fantastic zone :) Cheers!
@ Thanks so much!
Our pleasure!
Seeing the pot plant go over the side is somewhat irresponsible especially when there's already a ton or more rubbish in the ocean. Gerard.
It was a basil plant with no plastics of any kind. It will have simply decomposed :)
Throwing a basil plant from San Francisco into the Sea of Cortez could have ecological consequences due to the potential for introducing non-native species into a new environment. Although basil is unlikely to thrive or spread invasively in a marine ecosystem, it could carry small organisms like bacteria, fungi, or even insects that aren’t native to the area. This can disrupt the local ecosystem, potentially harming native species or unbalancing existing relationships between marine and plant life. Also, ecosystems like the Sea of Cortez are particularly sensitive, hosting unique biodiversity. Introducing even small, seemingly harmless species from elsewhere is generally avoided in order to protect these environments from invasive species and diseases.
But otherwise I enjoyed the video.
Thank you for thinking so much of the environment, something we most certainly share with you. Regarding the old basil plant, I think we disagree on this one. I'm very certain that almost dead terrestrial plant will have quickly sunk to the sea floor, posing no threat to the local environment. On the other hand, the plethora of imported food flying all over the world most certainly does corrupt local environments. We believe disposing of organics in the sea well alway from land is the most responsible method of dealing with our food scraps while cruising. Sending it to a landfill would certainly pose more risk of spreading invasives while also creating methane gas when decomposing in an abiotic environment. Thanks for your throughful comment. :)
Cheers!

Love seeing our old boat
And we're so glad you reached out to us and shared those amazing photos from Sea Dream's early days! In a few weeks, we're going to meet the previous owners of SDOC who sailed her across the Atlantic and then trucked her across the continent to Vancouver! They live very close to my home base and had been searching for SDOC for years.
Good you missed out minus 10. Enjoy your tripTrevor and Cat!
We certainly didn't miss those cold spells last winter. Cheers!
Awesome video guys !

Nice videos. a little like the stuff I'm creating... 👍
Cheers! I'll have a look at your channel :)
Cool that Kat got to have her brother out with you guys for a few days. Looks like he fell right into the rhythm of boat life. It was also cool to see that Dorado jump up out of the water trying to shake the hook. I wonder if the hook didn’t set properly… Looks like the boat is doing well and you guys are getting to sail it when you can.
Loren was great to have aboard! Hopefully he and Zaia will make it down again this coming winter, too. Those dorado are very powerful fighters and are pretty good at shaking the hook when they jump like that. Fortunately, there seem to be lots of them, and they hit regularly!
Super vid, living the dream🤘
Cheers! Life is pretty sweet in Mexico :)
Looks fun! From San diego
