      I watched the 2007 ITV documentary and the 2013 one by Channel 5, and I'm sure they both had an agenda (make Park look as guilty as possible), especially the ITV one. The amount of information they left out was criminal in itself.

      Adults constantly project their own fear insecurities and pride and ego onto children. Whether big or small. We all either see people who do it, or have done it. Most likely we have at least observed others doing it. Whether we want to admit it or not.. I have seen so many people punish their children over their own anger towards the partner or ex partner

      Now there's a rather rash leap to judgement. There were probably another eleven like you on the jury. I'm excellent with knots, have something very similar to an ice axe and frequent Coniston regularly. Would that make me a viable suspect in your eyes? What about the police diver having no recollection whatsoever of bringing up that rock. Now that stinks! If he was in Blackpool and she was in the house it stands to reason, given her number of 'gentleman friends' that the mixer weapon could have come from the house. It certainly doesn't mean he was the one who did it. Absolutely no real forensic evidence, extremely unreliable witnesses and the possibility of evidence tampering makes me wonder how the hell the jury came to that conclusion 'beyond all reasonable doubt'. British law isn't the be all and end all....far, far from it.

      It is almost ALWAYS a family member (husband/wife, other family) that committed the crime, he did this, you're fooling yourself to believe otherwise.
      He was controlling to the point of retaining her wages, he probably wanted the open marriage in the first place so that he could have a ammunition on her.
      She seemed to have found someone that she got along with before she felt the tug of motherhood so strong that she put her feelings aside and went back to a loveless marriage.
      She clearly got enough ammo of her own in order to divorce him and gain custody of the children, so he killed her, end of story.

      A stranger wouldn't, but a lover or friend she was moving out with and thus getting a ride from (with her stuff) might have. Not saying that's what happened, husband probably did it, but all it directly proves is that she had a connection to her killer, not who it was.

      That's the sort of thing makes people doubt, honestly. It doesn't really mean anything one way or the other, but if all things were equal my first thought would be that it's because he didn't know she was down there. Don't get me wrong: given this video is literally all I know about the case, I'm not saying he's innocent by any stretch. It's just that these sorts of assertions and questions can only cloud the situation.

    • @Tigerlilly2321
      @Tigerlilly2321 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's very common in people who kill. They almost always return to the sight where the murder was committed, or where the cadaver is located. It's a way of reliving the act and gives them a sense of power all over again. Sick.

  • @ianmacfarlane1241
    @ianmacfarlane1241 6 ปีที่แล้ว +93

    On face value I'd have to say that he did it, but that's on the basis of an (excellently done) 18min video. The circumstantial evidence is too dancing - who'd go to the bother of setting him up by using an ice-axe & a boat on his usual lake when in all likelihood the body would never have been found, except for exceptional luck?
    People are nearly always murdered by someone they know, with a motive, and Gordon Park certainly had that.
    I'm afraid to say that his supporters may be blinded by false reasoning.
    Great video as always.

    • @myothersoul1953
      @myothersoul1953 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes it seems highly likely he did it. I don't know what the standard of evidence required for conviction is in the UK but based on this video alone I have a shadow of doubt that he did it.

      This is the first I've heard of the case, but I tend to agree. My problem is that, if this video is accurate, the police seemed to have an odd tunnel vision about his guilt. I don't like it when reasonable accusations of evidence-planting come up. The stone, the knot. It reeks of "we know he's guilty, so we're going to do whatever it takes to make sure he winds up behind bars." It makes me wonder what made them THAT certain, and if any other possibilities were even considered or looked into.

    Well done! I believe he did it. Not even a shadow of a doubt, in my mind. I believe the only reason his kids believe he was innocent, is because he had over 20 years to drill into their minds that their mother left them. After hearing that lie for long enough, they bought it. And Gordon took the cowards way out. The last line got me though, that poor girl, to lose 2 mother's before you're 10 years old is so sad. How sad that jealousy and anger can cause such destruction in so many peoples lives...like ripples when a stone thrown in a pond...they.affect all connected people,right up to include his last wife. You hear of this so often , controlling behavior.
    The husband looks a nasty piece of work.
    The lady looks bloody miserable.
    Returned to the house and bastard husband for the kids.
    I shouldnt happen.

Stop playing stupid and acting like what we all know is he truth somehow isn't the truth because you choose to put opinions or agendas ahead of common sense. If you cannot do that then no level of factual information will change your mind as it is impossible to reason with someone to stupid to be reasoned with. Common sense is free - use it.

    What a screwed up couple! I have no idea how ANY mother could leave her kids, including her adopted niece who had lost her own mother to murder, to move in with her affair partner. No good ever comes of open marriages,i.e. adultery. People don't stop to consider the consequences of their actions. Those poor kids! Imagine their confusion, grief and embarrassment!

    Was the rock used as evidence? Because if the diver did not, as per his recollection recover it and if there are no records of it being recovered that is a major red flag. Either of fabrication of evidence or the whole case being shoddily put together, shoddy enough to caste doubt on *anything* they claim.
    Added to this eye witness statements from the time of her leaving I think there is plenty of room for doubt here.

    If everything stated in the video is accurate, it would not be enough evidence to convict Parks. I'm interested to know what was presented at trial to convince the jury of his guilt.
    I can only hope that he actually was guilty, because the conviction and subsequent suicide of an innocent man is very sad.

    Greatly done documentary, this is an art-form within journalism, both moody and informing
    seems from the narration given that the police had some personal vendetta with the man... though that could have be just the way it is presented here, I would not be able to tell since I do not have any other sources.

    This poor woman. It's terrible to see how the abuse from her husband was brushed off and she was blamed for leaving him. Even now she's being held responsible for her own murder, as though it can be justified because she chose to escape her unbearable situation. Misogyny sucks.

    ..Everything does point to the husband, but I wonder if her policeman lover was ever seriously in the frame? Carol left her husband for him, then later returned home. Could he have been jealous and took revenge? And the fact he was in the police force means he would have a better idea than most of just what investigators were searching for, and how to cover his tracks.

    Hey CW, I'm a big fan of your content. You're extremely underrated. Just a suggestion, it would be awesome to see you look into real zombie accounts and fish out some facts from the fiction. I know there are some historical cases which would be interesting. I would personally love to see that and think many others would enjoy that also.
