Totally love Steve Albini not caring about doing all of the vocals. He does what he feels like or can. Got a great bootleg of a Rapeman show where he's getting heckled to turn the vocals up to which he replys, "We can't turn the vocals up.....vocals are for people who don't understand rock". Legend.
I was at this show it was incredible. Don Cab, Seam, Uzeda and others. One of my fondest memories. This was not some fancy festival just good ol' bands playing on a field. Rip Steve you made the beautiful noise.
Traynor TS-50b amp. Just any standard single-coil bass (though obvious an aluminum-necked one will assist) and the right settings on a TS-50b (or any TS-50b preamp clone and your power amp du jour) and that nasty tone can be yours.
I'm sad that this is the first time being aware of this band. I'm sad to hear the passing of Steve Albini. You can tell they all love what they are doing here. Such great bass and guitar riffs. This is how I imagine my punk garage band sounding like. I'm calling my friend and hopefully jamming again soon!
WOW.. Todd and his sister babysat me when I was a total,..his parents and mine graduated and now in retirement together,Sir Todd and my brother were tight friends from tots till after graduation...They were only next block from us,He ALWAYS has a drum set in his room...I bought up his name one night at a mole bar and Holy Crap I didn't realize how big Rifle Sport was...Its been so long since I've seen this guy!
was here at this one too and shellac was a cool headliner but gaddam!! us maple was beyond revolutionary and blew all these rocknrollers into another stratosphere. unfettered sheddered
He neatly axes the tip off one on the edge of a cymbal during the first part of Squirrel Song, too (around 12:40), another blink-and-you-miss-it quick change. Todd's a beast, his sticks just can't keep up.
The crash cymbals look cool like this but I'm guessing their parallel placement and height are causing allot of his sticks to break. Still a kick-ass drummer
I dont know how to say this and dont have anyone to say it to but i need to say something. I feel kinda silly but ill give it a go here. My you tube feed always has alot of albini and shellac related videos so didnt think anything of it when there was lots of it popping up a few weeks ago. Then I noticed why that was and I avoided it like I didnt want to know didn't want to believe it was true. Steve and his work, expecially Shellac have been such a big part of my life for 20+ years now and I genuinely feel like I've lost a close freind. I finally brought myself to spin to all trains a few days ago and I always enjoyed this video, watched it many times over the years so I ended up here. Rest easy Steve, you'll be sorely missed. Thanks for posting this vid and keeping it up all these years. They fucking slay it during this show clear to see why they were so important and loved by so many.
Out of all the skronky mess that came out of the 90's, there were still some who could actually play their instruments with precision and carry a tune. Thank you Shellac.
The day the bass player in my band will have this exact sound ill tell him to turn his volume up, for now ill stick with the " damn man turn your self down i cant hear shit"
There is good footage of Paul Newman's set from that day. They were incredible. As was Rye Coalition. Best show I have ever been to. m.th-cam.com/video/ekcztYptTSc/w-d-xo.html
Damn I didn't know those metal necks/guitars were out yet in 2000. That's the same thing King Buzzo and the the bassist for the melvins/butthole surfers plays.
These are Travis Bean guitars which have been discontinued. The guitars you are referring to are by Electrical Guitar Company and that company started in tribute to Travis Beans.
The prophet is characterized as speaking against an increased disparity between the wealthy and the poor with themes of justice, God's omnipotence, and divine judgment.
Amos prior professions and his claim "I am not a prophet nor a son of a prophet" (7:14) indicates that Amos was not from the school of prophets, which Amos claims would qualify him as a true prophet. Amos' declaration marks a turning point in the development of Biblical prophecy. It is not mere chance that Hosea, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and almost all of the prophets given significant coverage in the Hebrew Bible give first of all the story of their special calling. All of them seek to protest against the suspicion that they are professional prophets because the latter discredited themselves by flattering national vanities and ignoring the misdeeds of prominent men.[5]
I’ve known this band for a long time, but I’m diving deeper in right now, and I can’t believe how bad they are. Albini is such a geek. I can’t believe someone who helped make a lot of good music, makes music this crappy.
RIP Steve, you’ll be missed so much.
Devastating loss to music 💔
Probable still had another poker world champion in him -Gabe
Such a good force in music. At least he made the most of his run. He gave us a lot of good stuff.

Words to live by
Legend of douche bags.

Best bass sound ever.
Iron Pescatore yup
Bass is BOSS
second to fucking none

Yeah right! Lmao
0:00 Mouthpiece
4:07 This is a Picture
8:13 A Minute
12:19 Squirrel Song
15:05 Watch Song
The year 2000 was a part of the 90s, and this video is proof.
Best Shellac footage I've seen. They are unfuckwithable.
I’d hate to see the rest. Yikes.
saw them live in 2022... same energy. true artists with true vision live forever. rip steve
Todd Treiner-Bob Weston rhythm section is mind blowing
Todd is amazing!❤
You can tell, most of those people had never listened to Shellac before that day. Man what a treat.
This is my favorite performance of theirs to revisit. Thanks for all the inspiration Steve!
I came right to this as well
"this is a picture" is truly amazing, even in this shite recording it is stunning. what a sound
Stunning how great this sounds. RIP Steve, loved Seeing you and Shellac live

I saw them open once with Didn't we deserve a look at you and was blown away, so much tension.
i swear the melvins and shellac have got to be the greatest most original and inspirational creative bands to ever exist...
I could wholeheartedly not agree any more with that statement❤❤❤
throw in Slint and I have to agree.
May the 6th 2000 was the best day of my life
I think this is one of the great performances

Yeah, they were incredible. At their PEAK.
I agree with this observation. US Maple was way underappreciated at this show. I also remember Enemymine destroying minds that day.
aye but don cab thooo.. classic performance, too bad i was only a sperm when this show happened
They are pretty seriously far out there.
“Mouthpiece” > “Smoke on the Water”
Impresionante , Shelac y Fugazy lo mejor del hardcore.
Gracias al que gravo este concierto.
This is even cooler than their records...
one of the best types of venues ever, up close and personal. feels good watching this
This has the feel of that Fugazi DC charity gig.
11:15. No-one even noticed his drumstick split in half, get thrown down on the ground and replaced by another. As it happened so fast.
He neatly axes the tip off one on the edge of a cymbal during the first part of Squirrel Song, too (around 12:40), another blink-and-you-miss-it quick change. Todd's a beast, his sticks just can't keep up.
this heat profile picture? based
A great drummer that keeps the snare beat going while grabbing for a new stick. Chef's kiss 👌👏
The crash cymbals look cool like this but I'm guessing their parallel placement and height are causing allot of his sticks to break. Still a kick-ass drummer
thanks for posting. I was at this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sticks fucking flying 15 minutes in, dude is hard
Rest in power, Steve!
I dont know how to say this and dont have anyone to say it to but i need to say something. I feel kinda silly but ill give it a go here.

Observe the audience from a mere 14 years ago: no phones, no tablets, no chatter: paying attention. Beautiful.
gomertube Well, to be fair... they're doing something extra cool up there. But I still stand with you.
I was at this show. I remember it well. It was an incredible lineup
belle epoque
They still don't know how to rock though.
*watches video and sees a bunch of giant cameras* lol
Long live Shellac.
Everyone's favourite band...and why the hell not
Almost forgot to watch this today

A real fucking rock band
Yeah fucking right!
because they were squirrels, REEEAL SQUIRRELS
alliushka moon and they were THOUSANDS
Out of all the skronky mess that came out of the 90's, there were still some who could actually play their instruments with precision and carry a tune.
Thank you Shellac.
Ha!!!
And there was some stuff put out by musicians who couldn't play their instruments with precision that was also great, skronky, but great
DAT SNARE
Eric Sandoval Trainer is an absolute fucking machine. SO GOOD.
Eric Sandoval my man
Damn! Pure energy...channeled with fury and precision! Inspiring...thanks for sharing...
Damn...that is sooo tight! Legends!
Rip Steve Albini
The day the bass player in my band will have this exact sound ill tell him to turn his volume up, for now ill stick with the " damn man turn your self down i cant hear shit"
Stupid.
i cant believe im watching this and hes gone
Seeing Albini without glasses is... Weird...
thanks for uploading this.
thank you!
Steve and Bob reaching up to mute Todd's cymbals at the end of A Minute is hilarious
HOW COULD YOU? IN A MINUTE! wow!
It's that Steve Albini sound people are talking about
Yes, the sane douche.
Am I completely wrong in thinking that Shellac is a tight-as-hell jazz trio?
Yes - Jazz sucks
Nope
Yes
Yes.
with the time changes its as close as you will get in a punk/noise form
love the unimpressed girlfriend in black near albini. i think her boyfriend is saying to her "this is the best part" at one point.
10:05 THIS IS THE BEST PART!!!! .... Still unimpressed.
🤣 I was wondering HOW someone could just stand there with arms folded 🤦♀️
Dat bass...
Tone Gods. RiP King.
Damn fine band.
smoke on the water in 7/8

Thank you so much for uploading this!!! No moshing, no phones. I sure miss those days.
yeah they definitely hadn't invented moshing yet in 2000.
Chad Brockmeyer moshing is like the best part tho?
@@jasonbatteiger2421 lmfao
Very weird to think I was being birthed while this was happening
first track very evocative of loose by the stoogiesss

Something about watching this in 2021 is really depressing.
Time, it's passing
Awesome
please put up any more video you have from that day. seam? uzeda? bring it.
US Maple, Oxes. Great day! Just glad we got to see it.
There is good footage of Paul Newman's set from that day. They were incredible. As was Rye Coalition. Best show I have ever been to.
m.th-cam.com/video/ekcztYptTSc/w-d-xo.html
Steve has really chubbed up over the last 17 years
Bindi-Lee James he's a fat ass these days
Yeah, so?
It's called getting old bro lol
@@adamgrimm1523 No, it's just called getting fat.
He’s not even fat.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
🤙🏻
That bass sound is such a fatty 🖤
Damn I didn't know those metal necks/guitars were out yet in 2000. That's the same thing King Buzzo and the the bassist for the melvins/butthole surfers plays.

Looks like an old Fugazi show
smoothy..
@3:13 good recovery. I blame the overly-elevated cymbals.
Also, Albini is 60 now, so he was about 38 here?! Sure as hell doesn’t look like it.
thats crazy. I always think of him as younger here too
God love the zit picker
You better sweat the technique
Whats the firdt song

To be fair, the band is nothing to mosh over. They’re really bad.
great band, terrible recording. not sure Steve would aprove but whatever
