Many thanks David. Having tried - and read - many tutorials and couldn’t get the config to properly work, this did the trick. Really appreciate it as OpenWRT - I find - is difficult to master. I’m sure it ultimately just requires loads of practice, but thanks to you I got there in the end. A simple and detailed step-by-step process which you explain clearly.

Under Network-Firewall menu you should have ticked lan-wan zone (under masquerading)
You left it for wan-accept then it wouldn't apply lan-bridge-wan rules.
Thank you for your tutorial which was very useful for me. I finally got it to work with your help.

I really hate finding this kind of thing as a video when an article would be so much easier to follow along with (and not need me to put a pair of headphones on!). But honestly: for the medium, this was a really good video. It helped me get a repeater set up in almost exactly the way you described, and gave me the confidence to set up a slightly-different OpenWrt device based only on the documentation afterwards. So: thanks!

    Thanks for the demo, David.
I experienced a small issue, but I believe that it is related specifically to my router model - TP-Link TL-WR841ND V10. Once I created the bridge interface, I lost access to the GUI of the router and couldn't create the wireless network. So creating the wireless network first helped in my case.

i hope you're still active here, got a question
i'm a complete beginner with this, and although technically inclined, networking is an enigma to me, i'll never understand it :D
it seems they have changed the interface you used at 8:00. The "Physical Settings" tab doesn't exist anymore. apparently they moved it to a new tab "devices" under the interfaces menu, but i have absolutely no idea what to do there to disable the bridge interface like you did. tried hitting "reset" on the lan bridge interface that was listed there, but the interface entry still stated "br-lan" in its title, unlike the "eth0" seen at 8:35. do you know how to do this in the new openwrt versions?

Hey David, Thanks for putting this together. Can you tell me if it's possible to change the MAC address of the radio facing the upstream AP? In your example this is radio1 (the 802.11an interface). My use case is as follows: The AP I wish to extend requires interactive payment and rather than passphrase, authentication is done with client MAC address. I will need to first connect to AP with my phone or notebook, enter my payment info, then spoof that MAC address on the radio1 so that the repeater will connect. Alternately I could change the MAC on my notebook to match the MAC of radio1 while authenticating. Does openwrt expose the MAC address of the radios or allow user to change them?

UNTIL - I changed the two radios to 20mhz instead of 40 or 80 (default), then it all came together :)
I also found that, even though right now as proof this works I downgraded to OpenWrt 19.07.4 to get close to what is demoed in this video, the EX6150 v2 cant be upgraded beyond 21.02.5
If you go beyond that then when you create a wifi interface, SCAN will not work anymore nor will the new graphic the displays nearby wifi that also uses scan.

Not working for me :( followed every step. Trying to connect EE wifi dongle to my openwrt router via wifi and create another wifi whilst also being able to use the Ethernet port to connect a cctv NVR to give that internet access

Hi George, sorry to hear that it didn’t work. Which router are you using OpenWRT on? I don’t mind having a look with you at some point, I like a challenge!

@@alessandroaiezza4339 on my TPLink WR841N I went to Network->Firewall->Traffic Rules and added a rule to allow dhcp-renew from the lan for port 68 to 'Any zone' with the destination address as the main router's address and this finally worked!!!!! thanks OP for the video

      Hi, awesome tutorial.
I followed the instructions and the dhcp don't seems to work. I use a Lenovo Y1 router. So you have any idea? I change the rules in the firewall with no success.

Your audio has got static, like a too far away radio station broadcasting on AM. Makes it hard to follow along.

Useless as the 21.x version branch has changed just every setting, nothing is the same as what is shown in the video, especially the crucial part about LAN interfaces.

My bad… I should have looked into the future and changed the video to match what I didn’t know was coming 🤪
