  • I recently found out about an upcoming 100% certified gluten free FAST FOOD restaurant chain that will be opening early 2024 (shoutout @disneyallison for putting it on my radar).
    So let's do a deep dive of where it will be located, what kind of food it will serve, and what the future has in store for gluten free people at fast food restaurants. Exciting stuff guys!

    as someone who has celiac disease, the wheat starch does worry me a bit since all my life I've been told to avoid anything wheat related at all costs. but honestly I'd be down to try this if I ever make it to Las Vegas. if the science is there then why not lol. i'm glad that us gluten free people are finally getting more options (even if its a very slow process), and im hoping that this works out for them because I would love to have something like this closer to me (I have like 0 options)!

    Bibibop is a fast chain korean restaurant thats 100% GF and it SLAPS.

      so exciting that you’re opening these locations, i just wish you didn’t use wheat starch :( i have an anaphylactic allergy to both wheat and gluten so that’s just as dangerous. what’s the protocol to avoid wheat starch cross-contamination in the kitchen?
      edit: i see that you also use peanut oil for some items, is there protocol for handling this ingredient as well? i’m genuinely curious because i’ll be in vegas for a week this fall and was really excited about the possibility of a safe meal.

      @@MyChannel773 thank you for noticing our Discover My Power online menu filtering tool. We created this to arm you with Power to make the best decisions for you! Peanut oil is only used to fry our corn dogs (normally safe for those with peanut allergies), we don’t use or have any peanuts in the store, on purpose.
      All of our food is made in our food production kitchen, then reheated in the individual locations later.
      We have a HACCP plan, food made in different days, every employee is trained and certified in GF, stores and kitchen all certified.
      Our main goal is certified gluten-free. Wheat starch is in some of our pizzas but not all. But prepared in the same oven. Discover your Power and make the best decisions for you 🥰 hope this helps

    I hope it spreads to New England! I have celiac and eat foods with gf wheat starch without issue. The new King Arthur gf bread flour has wheat starch and it's really good, the closest to conventional bread I've had since going gf.

    Phil, you always make my day with your updates. BTW, Eugene Oregon has the fast food option called “Toxic Burger” which has burgers, fish & chips, pulled pork sandwiches, excellent fries, and a variety of shakes including Oreo shakes.

    Papa Chops in Grand Rapids, MI is 100% gluten free and has been around for almost 2 years!!

      but yea i believe the difference is that this will be a fast food “chain”, so hopefully there are gonna be 100 in the next 5 years. hopefully there will be 100 papa chops too cuz their site looks unreal

    Man I was excited when I saw gluten-free restaurant. I'm so sad that they use wheat still. For those of us who can't have wheat, it sucks that we're excluded from the one place we should be able to eat

    First of all, thank you for everything you do. And this video is just in time.
    New to EOE as my husband was just diagnosed and he doesn't have any side effects at the moment. It was discovered with endoscopy done for another GI issues. So he has to do a 6 elimination diet and I just purchased Caputo GF flour. Baked almost perfect bread to test, since most of commercial GF breads have eggs :( But.. realized, that it has Gluten Free Wheat Starch. So not I am confused. Is it Gluten that has to be eliminated, or Wheat. Have you personally consumed Caputo GF flour? Thanks in advance.

      Personally I would avoid it because for EOE it would potentially be a “wheat” trigger, but I could be wrong, I just air on the side of caution. they tell you to avoid gluten overall because of the cross reaction. that being said, i would maybe ask your doc about that, and i will actually do the same because i’m curious too haha. either way, if he’s ate it i don’t think eating it once or whatever would ruin the whole 6 week elimination or anything!

      ​@@PhilHatesGluten First, thanks for responding. I most likely will not use it much during 6 weeks. Getting to the doc may not be that easy, and I am almost sure that they will say no to anything that has the word wheat. But I will try and let you know if I get any answer.

    I have EoE too and I've been a little wary of gluten free wheat starch. Have you tried it, and how did you do with it?

      i haven’t personally tried it, i actually have an appt with my doc in a few days and am gonna ask. cuz i would love to try it but the wheat trigger is what confuses me cuz i understand ours is a wheat allergy. so my assumption is we can’t have it but who knows

      @@PhilHatesGlutenI know it sucks to be your own Guinea pig, but the Digiorno gluten free pizza uses the GF wheat starch in their pizza in case you want to try it.

    I won't do GF wheat starch (tried a Schar product with it once), but other than that... this restaurant will be too far away for me
