I love blood plums. The dark red flesh with the sweet and sour taste. They have such a short availability and can sometimes be hard to find though. Every time I watch one of these videos, I want to go and get the fruit to try myself.
I live in Sarasota Florida and I go to a place that is organic and during season they bring the different sapote fruits from Southern Florida to their Market. This is the first time they've had the black sapote and I must say I love it! I just sent a box of it and some local bananas to my son and his wife in Ohio. They've had the polar vortex so they'll be glad to get some tropical fruits!
I have a Black Sapote tree (east central FL) with lots of fruit starting late November. Actually, Sapote is more of a description than a type. (Sapote is derived from an Aztec word for "soft sweet fruit".) White sapote is in the citrus family, yellow sapote (egg fruit) and mamey are related, black sapote is a persimmon relative. They are quite cold sensitive and I go to great lengths to keep it protected, but it's worth it. I leave the fruit a few more days than you did so it is even softer and sweeter. Texture is silky smooth. It looks just like chocolate pudding. The taste depends on your imagination. If you want it exactly like chocolate pudding stir in a little cocoa mix. It is close to chocolate, but lighter and more fruity. Plain is best but it also makes great ice cream or shakes, and is wonderful in a pie or cake.
< hour south. Have seen them at the Ft Pierce farmer's market in winter. Visit a rare fruit club. They are often on the tasting table in season. j.mp/rarefruitclubs
Someone told me her child had Lupus and she gave it to him and he was cured. I want to try it because I have it. Don't know what she did but I would purchase some just to see if it works.
I have a Black Sapote tree that flowered last year, but didn't set fruit. A friend also has a tree and gave me some fruit from his tree. It didn't taste like chocolate, but did have a sweet pudding texture and taste. I got 6 seeds out of the fruit to sprout and graft later on.
Conchita Games Thank you :) We love to talk to people and connect with our subscribers, How are you this beautiful sunday and what is your favorite fruit? It depends some of them do but have to be in the right ripe stage :)
Im eating one right now for the first time and its delicious! Mine does taste a little chocolaty its texture is like mashed potatoes and its the perfect sweetness.
I have never seen a fruit before but I have a plant that flowered last year. Many people say they don't taste like chocolate at all - do you think that is due to different varieties?
Julie's Jungle We think it has a chocolate flavor, and the texture is so fantastic, hope you can be able to try it one day and see if you think it taste like chocolate :)
I just can't believe there's a fruit in the world that tastes like chocolate and I've never heard of ti until now, how is this possible? When did this fruit start existing and how do I get some?
Violent Rainbow It doesn't really taste like chocolate, but its flavor is very delicious. They say it tastes like chocolate because they can't really explain what it tastes like. regards!
it's funny, I couldn't understand a word you were saying after you starting eating the fruit. I have one growing in a pot here in Texas. I don't know if it will survive here. But I'm going to try.
Nice video! I just want to correct one thing in the description. Black sapote is not related to white sapote or mamey sapote. All three are in different families despite sharing the same name.
My order finally arrived. Very messy fruit. Looks like chocolate pudding. But doesn't smell nor taste like it. I loved the texure. It's pretty tasteless tho. It supressed my appetite so I'll be ordering more..But as far as the taste. It barely has one.😕
Cannot say I have one particular favorite fruit, depends what is in season. Juicy ripe seeded sweet watermelon in the summers, nice soft juicy persimmon in the fall. Peaches and nectarines in the spring. I LOVE all fruit!!
i love how excited you are to try it! i first had it in hawaii and LOVED IT! not too sweet but super creamy. where in the world are you? we spoke on IG a bit ago :) @celinaeliz
You cut the fruit, and ate it with a spoon. You missed out on the fruit. Here's what you do: Reasonably 'artistically' break it open with your hands to reveal the textural uniqueness, and then nosh. That's the real deal. What you're doing is a 'half of an experience'.
+Kamel G-Unit They are lying. It looks like chocolate, but it taste like somewhat neutral and slightly like avocado taste to it but more bland. You can tell by their reaction they are faking it after tasting it.
We all have different taste buds. What one person may like, another person may not, and vice versa. So, we have to take these types of Videos with a grain of Salt. Also, just because you didn't like the taste, that doesn't mean that you should give the Video a Thumbs down. They are only giving their opinion. That's just my opinion! 🤣🤣🤣
You both are full of such joy. Cannot watch you and not smile!
Rebecca Woodward Thank you so much for your lovely words

Nice video! I just want to correct one thing in the description. Black sapote is not related to white sapote or mamey sapote. All three are in different families despite sharing the same name.

Nice vid:) are u guy's German or Russian?
Looks so yummy.
WizardofRaw yes it is, what is your favorite fruit?
Cannot say I have one particular favorite fruit, depends what is in season. Juicy ripe seeded sweet watermelon in the summers, nice soft juicy persimmon in the fall. Peaches and nectarines in the spring. I LOVE all fruit!!
WizardofRaw awesome fruits!
Its look more like a mangrove aple on the outside.... but mangrove are white inside...
Cool, how do they taste?
Wait that’s not ripe is it?!
The swedish accent is strong with this one. : p
it actually related to persimmon and white sapote is more related to citrus. Sapote just means sweet fruit in aztec language
i love you bringing awareness to the fruit but that isnt fully ripe.
Und yah der taste of der shockolate!
It warms my soul just everytime they say "creamy" (∂ω∂)

Its not ripe enough would be in another 2 or 3 days
DAMN IT ! Some say it doesn't taste like chocalta, and you guy's say it does -_- I'm confused... PS. 9GAG brought me here to find that out !
+Kamel G-Unit They are lying. It looks like chocolate, but it taste like somewhat neutral and slightly like avocado taste to it but more bland. You can tell by their reaction they are faking it after tasting it.
If you leave it to ripen for a while (til skin darkens) it kinda taste like a persimmon and has same texture but less taste.
You need to sharpen your knife. Neither one of you look like you’re enjoying eating the fruit 😂

I wish she would stop saying "so creamy"
It looks disgusting, but judging by the amount of 'WOWS'? It just doesn't make good TV
What a wast time in presentation,…. this should be no more than two minutes.
looked like shit on a spoon tbh
haha but it is so delish!
It’s doesn’t taste anything chocolate sooo bland!
l0l tha looks rotten :D
It doesn't taste like chocolate
Subie_girl23 depends on what fruit you eat and how ripe it is etc,
+Subie_girl23 It doesn't. It just looks like chocolate. People just make things up when they say it taste like chocolate. It has a neutral taste..
@@ashrafm.5627 Neutral? If anything, it tastes like persimmons.
Do you mind me asking how old you guys are? You look great! :)
