There needs to be a federal law passed so seniors dependent on social security are not charged more then 1 third of thier income for housing. Housing has gone completely insane
The richer people get the more they suck from the economy the more money gets printed the more money is worth less and the higher the price of rent and shit goes up
My son dated a gal from the American heart association. She made over 100,000 $ a year. I don't donate to any non profit that pay hr those wages, just like the march of dimes
I don't donate unless it goes directly in the pocket of the needy. Here in Phoenix they tell you not to do that and to donate to the foundations and such but, hell no.
There is a lot of wisdom in what this gentleman says. He is clearly not a bad person and I pray he gets the help he needs. Scary how close to homelessness most of us are.
I am in Buffalo, I’ve lived in Denver,Phoenix, as well as New England…and you mark horvath, are making a difference! As a former homeless person myself (a little over 5 years ago), I understand his experience. I was out there 9 years. There becomes a point where you have to draw yourself up, ask and keep asking the right people for housing (like a case manager), keep bugging them (in a respectful manner) until they remember you and help you. It paid off for me. A little prayer helps too.
This is no way to spend your 60’s and 70’s...he has a bad knee; can’t work - how is someone like him EVER supposed to rebound from homelessness!? He won’t. He needs support from his country and community!

I have to leave the house I shared with my husband/ex-husband (its complicated, but we always loved one another), because it's too much for me alone, and his brother took advantage of the inheritance monies to my disadvantage. Homelessness is one of my greatest fears. I'm praying so hard for this man. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I strive to have at least 3 or 4 months of my monthly expense and I am a tight budget. On the good side, I eat really good cause I don't by junk food, eat out, dair, meat, very little cheese, more plant-based fats and lost weight too. Now I find that people eat badly cause we are in a hurry. Access to Nutritious Food is a ritual and a privilege I don't take lightly, plus it is the second largest expense next to transportation. Also helped reduce anxiety and Bp from a more balance sugar intake, Switched to tea and reduced caffeine and sugar. We have to look at it as taking care of our health. Otherwise we are eating flavored particle board. Sorry for my rant and I am very grateful that I have never had something take me out .
@@briandora But in reality, only 0.17% of the US population is homeless and that's all homeless people, not just homeless people living in their cars, on a sidewalk or in a tent. You have a far better chance of going to jail or prison than becoming homeless but why the hell does no one talk about how you could end up locked up one day too?
I totally know the feeling!!! I'm disabled and I recieve social security and after paying 310 a month to my dr to be alive i only have 400 dollars top live on for the rest of the month. I'm almost in the streets n i have no dang clue how to live on the streets. I pray for God to protect me

I have to difficulty understanding how anyone with family is left to live on the street. This man's wish to go to Tennessee & see his granddaughters is heartbreaking. Of course I don't know the family history either but still, it's very disturbing.
This is so sad. I wonder why his family won’t help him. He has a grandchild so he has at least one son or daughter out there. I would never allow my parent to be homeless. Americans simply don’t GAF about their own parents. So sad and selfish. In other countries generations all live under one roof. Without family, its so hard to survive. God Bless this man. I hope he gets permanent housing 💜🙏🏾
I don't understand how children can turn their back on the plight of their elderly parents who are struggling with financial and health issues. There's no empathy or compassion for their own family. What goes wrong to cause such negligence?
Deborah Goulekas I don’t care if I could only afford a one bedroom. Whether my dad had to be on a bed, a couch, or an air mattress. He’d be inside with me and a roof over his head. He’d be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. He’d have food in his belly. That’s on God. Never would I let my parent live like this. Whoever this man’s children are should be ashamed of themselves. He’s not on drugs or an alcoholic so there’s no excuse for this. Shame! I see too many of these videos of elderly people abandoned by their own children and it’s disgusting.
LadyTea , it stinks too over here in the UK 🇬🇧. All everyone is concerned about is me me me. Aunts, uncles, cousins etc they couldn’t give a f**k. 🇬🇧🏴🔰
LadyTea Don’t assume anything. How would you have any idea weather or not they have or haven’t offered him a place. A good deal of the time a parent will say no because they don’t want to be a burden. Besides the fact that someone does not have to be a family member for me to reach out with the same amount of compassion. After all we’re all Gods creation.
Brian Kay there is a housing shortage due to immigration which brings in 100,000 per month. 50 million Mexicans live in the USA as of right now. Rentals go to the women with children.
@@SignedOff402 that just may be true , nevertheless most people do know that housing mostly goes to people that create resources , mothers with children are considered a resource to keep certain people wealthy . the children will grow up and work as so called free slaves under a corrupt governmentt system just like almost every working class person . most people work hard and still retire poor while certain other people gain wealth .
This noble man mentioned that he has grandchildren in Tennessee. Do they know he's homeless in Denver? Can someone contact his family and see if he can stay with them? God help us all.
@@teemadarif8243 the problem is the guy that makes these videos don't seem to want people to know where or how people can reach out and help these people.a ten dollar phone and number published would allow generous people to offer help why can't it be done
The Irony is that this man has been a Carpenter all his life, building houses and it is a very physically demanding job and not have a roof over his own head in his later years and as he said he paid into the system all his working life, it really is a crying shame.
This is shameful in America!!! Denver is too expensive!! They need to make affordable housing for retired people. They are wonderful people that can’t afford to live there. I check prices of housing there and there are two of us and we couldn’t afford to live there.

I get it! Im 60 and on SSDI, the 3.5 yrs it took to win a disability claim I was literally homeless and wondering the streets... Upon receiving benefits, (I am so grateful for) I bought a boat and a van and am one of the people living in cognito on the streets. Im still to young at 60 to get my retirement money and until then live just above poverty... It can happen to anyone at anytime... Im grateful to be able to buy food, gas, pay for insurances, a phone, and even chip out a few bucks for people worse off than me..

So, couldn’t $6k build a very small 1 person shelter? Multiply that by 365 and that is a lot of shelters. Crap, get some rancher/farmer/ etc to donate some land on the edge of the city...this is unacceptable
There are more empty buildings in America than their are homeless people, for the most part nobody truly cares if your down and out here in the states people move right past the homeless each day and widely ignore them or worse day terrible things to them driving by
just campgrounds is all needed, with storage units for property.....problem is young people don't give a care, cause they expect older people to pay for them and disability don't have an extra. it's necessary to separate criminals which is the drug and sex freaks that want to have rushes and lust and prostitutes......put people in those turn trickster head games in separate camps....til they quit and don't treat other people so bad so they can rush on fixes and lies and don't care about a garden .... or a child .... the care about this idea of independant life....
It's a plan, but you also have to consider the locale, edge of the city? What about the community they would be leaving behind, not to mention to accessible amenities: walk to groceries/day program meals, doctors, community centres/senior centres/libraries. None would drive, so how would it work. No paving ? How would anyone walk in sludge and mud in the wet/winter seasons? Not to mention all the infrastructure: Hydro, water, plumbing, sewage....all that infrastructure is in cities already and just closed off at sites that are not being used for housing right now. Detroit has block after block of abandoned tennment housing apartment buildings...refurbish that infrastructure, turn on the hydro/ water again, and there you go for one city: rinse and repeat in other cities across the US. DONE !
The brutal thing about life is that you can not save everyone. And unfortunately that means all the good people. Sad, god bless this man and all the others.
Why is it ?? That this is swept under the rug. THIS is what the COUNTRY should be focused on. Helping these people. Im about to be out there with him. God bless this and every one out on the streets homeless.
I am in California and I am on SSI disability, if I didn't have my brothers house to live in rent free I would have to live in my car. They literally only give me $690.00 a month and I am 59. I feel for this man .
My sympathies. But sometimes reality has to be faced head-on. Denver is an expensive place to live; very expensive. He might need to consider moving somewhere else. I understand regular housing anywhere in this godforsaken country is expensive but before I did a life switch, I simply assumed that since all I would have to live on would be my social security, would it really be so terrible to live in a state park camping ground, in a canvas wall tent? I did live in a state park for an entire year (less two weeks) and enjoyed it immensely. Just me and the dog and lots of Nature. I thought if I had to go back to that, not the worst of fates. Government and society should do more but at the same time one cannot sit around forever, waiting for someone to save you.
Why you don't see illegal immigrants on the streets is because a lot of them are ages of one learning to take care of themselves as cleaning and working because in their countries there are no work so their work were raising animals and Building Homes indicados for their families feeding cattle horses it's just like having a ranch as they grow they leave their families lot of them from Young ages 8 through 13 young coming to United States to find a better future and a lot of them start working on the streets and not even going to school many of them so they could learn to earn their money and a lot of them end up learning so much from being so young and learning to cook clean everything u can name, woman or man does not matter so they come to United States for a better life to make the money lot of them work 3 to 4 jobs a day and learned how to live caged up because of the government. So that's how a lot of them also open up their small businesses but believe me the majority of them start them from home still working an 8 to 5 job or 3 to 4 jobs a day depending send money back home to support their family that they've left behind and support themselves out here so this is a little backstory of why and maybe how come you may not see a lot of illegal immigrants out on the street because they have decided to come to United States to make a better life for themselves and for their family. They also learn to depend on themselves do not take from others or have other support them so they do not end up a lot of them in Bad Habit has nowadays Society our children have been raised differently than back in the day where everything is handed down to them so that's why they end up coming out a lot the way they do.
I wonder if his granddaughters in Tennessee know that he is homeless. Maybe they would give him a room wherever they live. I used to live in Tennessee (east and middle TN) and I remember that the people there were very nice and genuine, like this man seems to be. I hope David will contact his granddaughters, or any family he has, and tell them about his current plight. It's worth a try, in my opinion, because his health may not wait around until the city decides to house him. Good health to you, David, and if I were in Denver, I would try to help him.
I don’t think we live in that kind of world anymore. His family may not have a room for him. I live in a three bedroom house. With eight people grandchildren daughter people these days do not care about their family. I’m in Texas but I’m from middle Tennessee. I sure do wish I could help him. He seems like a very humble man.
My spouse is an RN, he use to work in the ED. They would get a good handful of homeless folks, who they would try to help, but these guys would always end up back on the streets almost freezing to death or beaten badly or something rather (the system truly sucks). There would be some that the medical workers would try to help on their own time. but there was never a good long term solution so in the end they just get them clothing and gave money. One guy that they all knew all too well ended up in the hospital for a few weeks. One of the nurses who took care of him the most wasn’t there anymore. But my spouse had heard he was there (again) but it was more serious this time. They said he had no clothing, or shoes even. So we went and got him clothing and shoes and gave him money. But this happened so often and the guy would end up half clothed wo shoes, it wasn’t a good solution for him. But my spouse wanted to do something, since he didn’t know how else to help him. He ended up homeless because he got badly hurt on the job I think he had a head trauma and mentally he wasn’t all there. He had family but I think they tried to help him but he would always wander off back on the streets. Sadly he was an alcoholic as well and they couldn’t help him, it seemed he really didn’t want help, since he didn’t accept any. I’m pretty sure the man may be dead by now. Maybe they got him into a assistant living, since he was pretty ill. People’s situations may be more complicated if they have family. It’s true some family members may turn their back on their loved ones, but there are times when family issues are more complicated and they can’t help even if they wanted to. Best
So happy you're helping her. I know of people that won't help their elderly parents. They stick them in a nursing home and never visit. My mother works at a nursing home and gives me sad stories about the lonely people there.
Thank you, Mark. This was especially good and David is well spoken and spot on! Not sure why these older videos are showing up now? Glad to see them anyway.
Omg...I will pray for this beautiful Man and I do feel so sorry for him. My husband and I have just recently retired too and we are so scared ..both of us put in a lot of hard work and many years into SSI and now that every thing is so expensive we need to try....to save which is very difficult ...and we can't go on working ,our bones and body need to stop and rest...so every one open your eyes because this is the truth this is not the GOLDEN YEARS ...TAKE CARE OF YOUR MONEY DONT JUST THROW IT AWAY...SAVE SAVE SAVE..The money we all get from SSI we all need to buy health insurance or we will get penalized ,so you are hardly left with enough money for retirement unless you, save some extra, and since all of us will get older we will get sick and older and thats where our money for sure will go too...Health insurance plans that will drain all of our retirement money..plan a b c and so on ....Oh but you no what if you are an ILLEGAL ALLIEN the government will surely take care of you.. but nothing left for us Americans....GOD BLESS ALL OF US...
Thank you for shedding light on the homeless communities all over. I see homeless people with compassion now. They are all different. There is a stereotype that they are worthless. Nobody is worthless.
You mean the taxpayers...right? Go to Cali or New York or Chicago....I mean the taxes people pay there they must have all kinds of services and programs for the homeless...right?
How sad ? This very shameful for his family. They won't help him. Colorado is very cold for someone to be sleeping outside. Not all ng be homeless. Prayers for this man.

I’m sick of the finger pointing, can’t y’all see the government if failing us. We all have the power to help someone in need the trying at least...power to the people remember
And warning to all that this “plan” won’t work for you either. Social security cannot be your retirement plan - it is only a start where people are literally forced to contribute at least something. Now go watch a video on how to best save for your own retirement. I am! These videos scare me to death!
@@tmusa2002 Oh contraire. Many seniors have gotten rid of the box to hold all their stuff as well as all their stuff. They are living an alternative downsized lifestyle. I do see a difference in young employees that they expect promotions much faster than older generations and complain about their student loans a lot louder. Welcome to life. As someone who has suffered from depression and anxiety from a young age I know how debilitating it is. In my last job, ten years ago, I tried to push through it and my body instead was like NOPE. I started having heart arrhythmias which led to black outs and my waking up on the floor daily. Not to mention the panic attacks, the breakdowns, the burnouts, the bursts of anger due to frustration and despair of my situation and inability to manage.. Its hard living with mental health issues alone. Its a struggle against yourself daily, against a society that rejects your problems as genuine and a government that seems hell bent on killing you. Just getting through each day with committing suicide is an achievement in itself. But add homelessness into the mix as well as not financial support or insufficient support and its a recipe for disaster. This video is a year and something old. I hope this man got the help he needs. I expect I'll be where he is within the next ten years. It would be nice to know not everyone in government and society are so greedy and callous that they can't help out the most vulnerable. Sadly more people die on the streets than get help into housing.. that says a lot about our society.

I pray for change in this ederly man life. Tax breaks for people whom want to built housing lowincome prayer is the answer don't give up ! Bless you
I beg to differ, it's NOT only the young generation who has f#$@×% up values. My deceased father's brother is a homeless senior & tried to profit off his passing a few years ago ( he's manipulate, cunning, selfish, ect). I was born in 84. I'm hard working, responsible, ect.
One reason so many Americans turn a blind eye to the problem is the prejudice that homeless people have mental health issues and are addicted to drugs. People think that the homeless are themselves to blame, so they don't deserve any help (people believe that drug addiction was the cause of their homelessness). But that's not true. People become homeless because the income is not enough to pay the rent. Or because illnesses has resulted in job loss. They are indebted because of the high cost for health care. These people haven't been drug addicts before they became homeless, but started to use drugs when they were out on the streets because their lives would otherwise unbearable. The root causes of the problem are a) unaffordable housing b) unaffordable health care (insurance, treatment, drugs) c) salaries that are not enough to live on (minimum wage $7,19, but some people don't get even that).
David is right about that - most government programs only get enough money for the office buildings and employee salaries and pensions. Never enough money that directly helps the needy.
Sec 8 is closed where I live in Ohio and we have the lowest housing costs in the US! It can take Years like 8+ years to get into section 8. Ppl call it the Golden Ticket. Not so easy to just ‘get onto sec 8’!!

A AAA is serious stuff. I had one rupture about 5 years ago and it took me several months to build back any kind of strength. Here this guy is out on the sidewalks with no help to make sure he can recover.
I ran into this video and recognized David. I met him in Boulder back in 2015 at the day shelter. Yes, I was homeless in Boulder. It's a long story, guess you'll have to read the book. lol Then a program where you could sleep in churches at night safe & warm and off the street. Unfortunately a few years back it closed it's operation. It was a Godsend for me, it helped alot of people. Boulder had alot to offer but presently I don,t know what's really going on. Anyway I was surprised and sad that David was still on the street. Me I have my own apartment and is permanent. If I would run into David. My building offers programs for elderly/disabled. Pray he is doing well and NOT still homeless.
This is so sad. He was worked all of his life and paid into the system. He should be somewhere relaxing. Maybe he should move to a more affordable state. But where? I just met a 62 year old homeless man. He is trying to move to Ann Arbor, Michigan. The rents in his current city of Grand Rapids, Michigan are too high. The Exodus program that he was in put him in danger. The people would steal his money and put him with dangerous roommates. He is safer on the streets. I pray that he can get a home. City leaders just make excuses. I joined a community group to get affordable housing in my city. The group was a waste of time. All talk and no action. How do you end homelessness when the city leaders and groups do nothing?
I am nearly in the same boat. They raised the rent last year so I am having to sale most of my belongings and it is a daily job. I am having to choose between health or survival.. Have 16 medical conditions. Praying people will wake up and start caring. Disability barely pays the rent It is over 110 here and thousands are stuck on the streets 😟
I’m 66 and I feel for him! More and more people every day are falling to this! It’s scary to know that most senior citizens in this country are one event away! Something’s gotta give……..
I am homeless too...i have been in a tent for eight months. Then lucked out and an angel (man that owned the property ) bought a 77 dodge mini winnie i and my son have been in it for three years now. Rent is too high! Full time work does not cover it. I have health issues no one will even interview me. I am 51. So straps my 26 year old son with bills....which is still 500 (for a place to park )plus utilities. Medication cost and vehicle cost. He is broke. What kind of future is that? There needs to be a federal law passed so seniors dependent on social security are not charged more then 1 third of thier income for housing. Housing has gone completely insane
And the big problem is with that, everyones going more right wing, not in the correct direction.

I have to difficulty understanding how anyone with family is left to live on the street. This man's wish to go to Tennessee & see his granddaughters is heartbreaking. Of course I don't know the family history either but still, it's very disturbing.
You would be surprised Our govt is anti family Has been for a long time
This is so sad.

What's stopping YOU from contacting companies in the building trades and sending this video to them? It's easy to post and hope someone (not you) will fix this problem you worry about. If you were sincere you would get personally involved in the solution, it seems to me.
DONE !
Buy a small piece of land and donate it then. Your suggestion calls for someone else to solve a problem that you worry about.

Give me give me give me... No work

Haven’t seen any illegal immigrants living on the streets in San Francisco!

@@patriciakehaya6711 can you please explain to me how they are taken care of?
@@patriciakehaya6711 yeah they work
Unfortunately it's the veterans and the Americans that can no longer work due to disabilities
Oh, they know, but this Generation doesn't give a Fuk about Family
Dont bet on that!!! Chances are they know. Its just not a soul gives a rats ass. Trust. People just dont care.
Best

I’m a paycheck/disaster away... it’s a fight to stay afloat everyday. Thank god for family pooling our resources together. We need support.
Take care David good luck to you my friend. tony from ratby Leicestershire Uk
Any updates on David? I live close to Denver and could give him a home or a ticket back to Tenn! This breaks my heart!
Many of the young people have no sense of 'family" and if they do they think of them as cash cows. We are in very disturbed times.
2timothy 3: 1 to 6.......in the Bible
The root causes of the problem are
a) unaffordable housing
b) unaffordable health care (insurance, treatment, drugs)
c) salaries that are not enough to live on (minimum wage $7,19, but some people don't get even that).
David is right about that - most government programs only get enough money for the office buildings and employee salaries and pensions. Never enough money that directly helps the needy.
Come to Pittsburgh PA and get into Section 8 housing and a room at the Wood Street Commons. You can live with us older poor men.
Sec 8 is closed where I live in Ohio and we have the lowest housing costs in the US! It can take Years like 8+ years to get into section 8. Ppl call it the Golden Ticket. Not so easy to just ‘get onto sec 8’!!
Section 8 is a nightmare. Too many rules, and if you have a record, kiss your ass goodbye. same with a job. Gov. Is mental! Smh.
Section 8 is garbage most of the buildings are filled with junkies and cockroaches

This man, an American citizen, should be given assistance of some type before any illegal is given any type of freebies by the State and Federal Government. I will keep you in my prayers sir.
What freebies do illegals get that a person like this gentleman doesn't get? Its a serious question.
Why he stay in Denver?? he should return home in Tennessee with his family! dangerous for a eldery person in the street!
He seems to be a very kind man.
I hope he is able to rent a room in somebody's home for the $400 per month. Glad he has granddaughters. Maybe they can help him find that room.
Such a nice, calm demeanor. Very pleasant personality.
The anxiety he must feel when he says he has to sleep during the day because there are no safe places at night
I think when I retire I'll try to get into a nice state prison, so I have food, shelter, and medicine.
Been thinking the same!
Free college education as part of your rehabilitation program too. What are we waiting for?
@@blackdog1153 could care less about the education system at least the physical needs will be met
you won't get in because the illegals Democrats let in to the country will be there first

Piggyback guys. Room with one another and split the costs. I will be homeless in Pueblo soon.
mw izzie , so sorry to hear that. Just take care, I wish you luck to avoid this slow death sentence. 🇬🇧🏴🔰
I pray everyday, SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVE.....JUST GRATEFUL I AM NOT ON THE STREETS IN DENVER. I PRAY FOR THIS MAN.
SIR PLEASE MESSAGE THIS MAN HE CAN CAMP HERE WITH ME. 😉
Can't you start a Go Fund Me page to get the money needed to prevent yourself from becoming homeless??
@@carmellalarue7882 Can't you at least get a minimum wage job? At least that's a start.
