If you are using this to power your PS4 please use the usb cable to power the hdmi Switcher because if you don’t your screen will flicker from what your playing to Black every ten seconds. Thanks for the info Vince, this proved very handy.
Saved me from returning the device. I thought you had to use the supplied power cord and when its plugged into a power source it doesn't work. thankfully I stumbled on your video. helped a lot thanks !!
Thank you, Vince, I just purchase one that is pretty much identical to yours from Amazon. It looks like I am the 1st one to buy so it is nice to know my money was not wasted!!. I hope this comment can be read because something is wrong with either my keyboard or TH-cam's printing (all garbled). Anyway thanks again!
That's great Vince, thanks. I had connected it up correctly but I needed your video to show me that I needed to then go to the TV remote to put it to HDMI 1. So simple now you've explained it.
When I plugged my nintendo switch into my hdmi switcher, it doesn't work even though my PC works with it. any help? EDIT: I got it to work by turning off the "HDMI Auto Switch" feature on my BenQ monitor.
And your BenQ monitor was plugged into what? Your Switch or the PC? I'm having the same problem. PC has two displays connected to it. BenQ monitor using DVI and HDMI to TV (using Switcher like in the video). PS4 goes to the Switcher too using HDMI but TV only reads the PC and not the PS4. It used to work fine before but we moved, changed our setup and got a newer TV so I'm wondering what's wrong.
Red Killer I have an hdmi switch. Works great. I used it to set up my computer to my computer monitor and tv around the corner. www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01EN64WQE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
For a retro gamer and a collector who also likes to play all of his games, this boi is AWESOME. I picked up some AV to Hdmi adapters and i made my ultimate gaming setup possible.
I have had one for three years. It's a very good product like you say but I never could get mine to work properly with out power hooked to it. You get one off ebay make sure it comes with power supply.
I bought a 3 switch version of this, as my second port on the TV is faulty. It works ok on the switch, but the remote/IR doesn't work, but that's not an issue. My main gripe is that the device switches input on power up. This would be fine, but it means when I'm watching on my FireStick, and my Freesat Box powers on intermittently to poll for remote recordings (which it does every 15 mins, as there appears to be no WoL functionality!), it switches to this! I can't see any way to stop it switching on power-up, so it's basically useless.
I actually use one of this on my single port 1080p monitor to plug my androidtv box, ps3, ps4, pc, and xbox360, all worked fine. though I modded mine to cut out the 5v rail on each hdmi port to avoid backfeeding on other HDMI source as a lot of them are just shared on single 5volt rail on the hub.
Thanks, my TV already had a HDMI switch but while fault finding a problem with the sound bar the connections got mixed up. All OK now as the output to the TV is in the right socket now! Many thanks
Hell yeah, I already knew of these hence looking on TH-cam for a reliable one with a remote, so your link is much appreciated bro! And showing the reliability too. Thanks
I have that 5to1 HDMI selector model + IR cable and remote like yours but my own works without the USB power cable. On my 5to1 HDMI selector: . Input 1: Blu-ray Disc player . Input 2: AVtoHDMI converter (connected to the 4to1 AV selector with my SNES and N64 systems hooked on to it) . Input 3: Nintendo Wii . Input 4: Nintendo Switch . Input 5: Not in use (Fully tested and works)
Another option is to connect your TV to a receiver. I have 5 ports on my TV, but only use one. My receiver has 7 inputs. When for example a gaming console is turned on, it automatically switches to that channel and turns the TV on. So no need for a dedicated HDMI switcher remote. This is also better for cable management.
note whilst this works with 1080p displays I would tend to go into either an 8x4 matrix switch or avr, as you will need a power source to run them on a hdmi2.0 capable hsrdware as there will not be enough power from the hdmi

Hey vince I want to control all my consoles & top boxes from a cabinet in my living room into the one living room tv using a single hdmi cable an this device but also be able to send the signel from the boxes to other bedrooms in the house? can I connect this device to a hdmi splitter then off to the TVs in different rooms?
Hi, yes you can. Connect the consoles/Set top box etc. to the HDMI switch and then the output of the HDMI Switch to the Input on the HDMI Splitter and it will distribute via HDMI leads the console or whatever is selected on the HDMI switch to every room. The problem is then using the remotes/controllers in all the different rooms as often the signals do not reach.
I was thinking of getting a harmony hub & Alexa in each room to then get over that problem. what would you suggest to use the remotes? I know how to do the USB over Ethernet for console controllers
Instead of drilling big holes in the walls to pull threw a hdmi couldni connect this to a splitter & then at the splitter end us hdmi over ethernet adapters?

You might need to add power. There is normally a little 5V DC jack on the side. Certain things like the PS4 normally need power to make them work properly :-)
I use this switcher for my 4 DVR'S and it works great, my question is how do I connect a mouse for easy control to my DVR'S ? I get tired of having to manually switch the mouse.
I just bought this hdmi switch for £18, I had a 3 port hdmi switch which I got for £6, that didn't work as it did not have an external power port, then I bought the same one with an external port, that was £9, now I got this. I hope it works great.

It couldnt recognize one of my computers. Not sure what's wrong but will try another computer to see if it was the switch. Update: I tried another computer (a PC) and it works. I wonder if it was because my mac mini has better video card/specs that draws more power to the unit. Not totally sure...
In my set up I didn't work in any configuration. I've got 5 hdmi systems and only my 360 and switch worked. I'm still on the look out for a decent hdmi switch because I don't wanna swap the cables whenever I wanna record some game footage.
I'm looking to run a hdmi out from my pc and have a switcher so i can choose between my monitor and my big screen, will this help me? As of now i gotta go behind my pc and switch hdmi cables around
Does this still work if I want to use a Computer Monitor as the main one? Like I have my computer working normally with two monitors but then I can switch one of the computer monitor to display my nintendo switch for example?
Does this thing work with computer monitors too? I've only got one hdmi input in my monitor and I often switch from playing on my pc to my xbox one and it's kind of annoying switching cables everytime I want to play one or the other.
I'm a visual learner so this was very helpful

Thanks for this simple video. I just wasn't sure whether the 5 volt usb cord was necessary. All good now.
I hate that my TV, a fairly new toshiba tv that only has 2 hdmi ports. Wish i knew that before I bought it
I made the same mistake. From now on I definitely need at least 3 ports as it is easier to use the TV ports than using the HDMI switch.
