Love the video. Thank you. I remember when I first started and my boss told me a story of a driver just flipping out, out of nowhere and started punching the camera. I said to myself why the hell would someone do that? Now I know exactly why.
I work for a security company and we have these cameras in all of are patrol vehicles. As an employee I feel very uncomfortable knowing at anytime that my private conversations can be listened to by who knows.
technically there not allowed legally to spy on your conversation, it's illegal wiretapping. Anything recorded such as a private conversation and that conversation is used to fire you, you can sue the company for a lot of money.
I'd like to see some lawyers fight these cameras for us truck drivers. I hate that I have to deal with being spied on. I also can't afford to leave. Strait bs
It should be viewed as an invasion of privacy. Especially if you sleep in the truck. That's no different than putting a camera in someone's house without their permission.
@@amerikanviking drivers have been caught having sex in the sleepers and it does in fact cause legal problems for companies that have the cameras facing the driver compartment, and some of these companie employee teams that are couples which do periodically bump uglies but most sleepers do have a curtain that blocks off the driver compartment from outside intrusions through the windows. There is a cover for the Lytx cameras that will block inside views of the cabs that companies do furnish the drivers.. so it's two fold responsibility. There is another provider on youtube that talks about this and the fact that people on the receiving end of the video clips were watching him and his girl going at it and questioned him about his sex acts in the truck.. when you are off duty they have no business viewing video clips from the cab because drivers are in fact on their own time. So the short end of this is, companies are bound to exclude off time video from the cabs and can get smacked with serious legal problems.
I like how these companies disabled the comments on their page they know us truck drivers know we will fill the page with all the invasion of privacy this camera does and how it adds more stress to us than we already have with the terrible drivers on the road .
All of us are getting these damn things. The company is going to lose good employees over it. They are fine with that for now. Too bad for those of us with bills to pay and concerns over invasions of privacy. It’s going to take money to get lawyers to end this or, loss of money for the bean counters have it end. Each cam costs $500 for each truck in a FLEET. Nothing will begin to change until that amount is surpassed, and the trial will include cost analysis to include crashes, liability, etc. That takes time. Looks like I’m about done with this job. This is just too much electronic nanny.
Here in this state, recording you without your knowledge (and that's exactly what Drivecams do) is against the law. a shit pile of Dunkin Donuts shops around here got their asses handed to them by the courts for hanging cameras over their registers and recording their employees. it violates state wire tap laws. all of the cameras were removed. it's also illegal to point your home security cameras at your neighbors because it violates the same laws. A guy I know threw the argument "commercial" into the mix and I disagree with him based on the fact that laws are laws and just because the commercial entity is mobile those same laws do not change and still apply. Regardless of the whole "triggered event" bs, I'm still being recorded and my face is constantly being monitored with my conversations, and that goes completely against my grain.
We just got them at my company. Honestly ruined the whole job. I wasnt really doing anything wrong before but it gives peace of mind when you dont have a camera directly in your face that has feed straight back to your boss. We would have been fine with a dash cam. Also im not a trucker I do security patrol
the insurance companies are twisting their arms and forcing the cameras with reductions in the cost of their policies. Just keep destroying the cameras and making it a financial burden on the other end.
17 years of driving no tickets no accidents 100% accuracy in my eyes. Got fired for cars changing lanes in front of me and not following “proper following distance” fuck lytx
Stumbled across your video while searching lytx. We’ve had these in our trucks since April 2018. Constant aggravation and a major distraction with all the squawking/ false alerts. This Monday morning I return from vacation to find a coachable event for me holding a cell phone while driving (triggered by me stopping normal at a red light 😂) I know what these things are doing so I’m not dumb enough to have a phone in my hand while driving. The geniuses at lytx beg to differ. I had my supervisor play me the video and of course I recorded it on my phone. It’s plain as day that there’s nothing in my hand so I’m told it’s being sent back and taken care of. Two cell phone pops with this company and you’re fired. I’ll keep you updated if you’re interested.
camera is more of a destraction and safety hazzard. It's also an invasion of privacy. Camera recording on the outside is understandable but to constantly record the person driving is an invasion of privacy and should be illegal.
You got that right and the crazy thing is you learn how to “keep the camera happy” for example you can run a red light and it won’t flag you, but if you hard brake to avoid running a red light it’ll flag you, so in my opinion the distraction makes me a worse driver.
@mikeruppe talking to a family member on the job discussing private medical information is automatically is invading your privacy. Breach of security is a big concern for inward audio recording period. Your rights for privacy has been striped.
Big distraction. We have had them for awhile now. You end up not breaking hard just to try and beat the camera from recording. Old ones killed our truck batteries in a weekend. We are now getting new version ones today and they do more info like this video.
@@therealkilleryo56ss yes that is an option and I might just do that ..but problem is that more and more companies are installing this or some type of camera ..I’ve worked for this company for 20 years and they have always treated me very well ..I’m not eager to start a new job but unfortunately it might come to that but it might not be easy to find a decent company that doesn’t have these cameras by now .
The video is good and informative but you've definitely missed some information! I've been driving with these cameras for years and we have the new updated ones as well. I see people asking about unplugging the camera, do not do this. These cameras do an auto upload daily to ensure they are working properly. They also use facial recognition. Basically its monitoring your eyes, look down long enough, or repeatedly, you'll hear the distracted driving alarm/voice. It also puts an invisible box around you. Reach out of this box for a few seconds or repeatedly, alarm goes off. The most common way to get clipped is the dual offense! This means, if you are eating, but do it quickly, the camera recognizes the movement but does not record the event, it doesn't really know if you eating or scratching an itch. Go left of center slightly and you'll get a clicking type of noise, but does not record the event, now if you go left of center, not crossing the line, just getting close and a quick look down to get a potato chip from the bag between your legs and place your hand near your mouth, the camera now recognizes a multi event going on! And it will send a clip. I've tested this camera on some different movements and actions , and more then willing to take a few write ups on my search for answers! A quick single event usually will give you some kind of warning, but not a recordable event. I've tried everything from no seatbelt to picking up a bottle and taking a drink. Always an alarm, but no event recorded. I'm not positive, but I believe if you have a recurring event, like taking a drink over and over, it will record it as an event. I hope this is helpful.
I've done everything you've done but not for trying to push the boundaries of the camera. I know how the AI works. I have cameras set up around my home that will box anything moving and send an alert to me via email. I knew the cameras were checking in. when they were first put in the trucks I used to talk to the other drivers during hands free phone calls and would speak in code and call the cameras "ET" and we I knew they were phoning home periodically. as for the facial stuff just don't let it see your eyes and the bridge of your nose. The last company I worked for was specifically looking for people who were driving and yawning. they didn't care too much about us feasting or drinking our coffee. one of the drivers was fidgeting with his seatbelt one day without unlatching it and the safety department sent him a text over the Qualcomm telling him that he could get one of those seatbelt clips and keep his belt from overtightening. One of the drivers was busted for doing 10 over in a 40 mph speed zone. I routinely broke the speed limit and nobody ever bothered me for it, and by that I mean 75+ down hill on the Mass turnpike. I did that every single day. The camera doesn't know the speed limit where you are at any given time but it can identity speed by the signs posted along the road. I always drove with the visor down blocking my face and hosed the windshield with washer fluid when approached and passed a posted speed limit.
It is the new drivers getting these updated units put in our trucks that benefit from your video. They wont tell us about how these new ones work. We have the old dc3 models now. If you don't hit a bump or hit the brakes, you are good. But with a computer watching and reporting you for just how you turn your head... we're fucked.
the more I dig into the cameras the more I understand them and the more ways I can develop to disable them. the radionics+ AI and the video are on separate boards so as to ensure somebody knows there's a problem with the camera... my initial exploration with the USB hardware proved you can nuke the video side of it but the main board sandwiched with the video board containing all the cell hardware will detect an issue and report it... HOWEVER! a simple Mini Ductor Venom will destroy the entire camera in about 60 seconds but most guys don't have the funds to shell out for one.
First thing if your company is recording you while you drive its illegal under law ( don't ask me for info your a big person you look it up ) 2nd if your company is recording you while your driving your working for the wrong company.
@@theTIVANshow It is not against the law for a company to record employees. This argument has been beat to death. it's illegal in some instances to record strangers but a company has every right to monitor their employees when risk is involved. Ever walk into a Walmart or any other department store and take notice of the cameras mounted in the ceilings? the same laws apply.
Get a big fishing magnet and put over it and it will not let it record and mixes the cellar signal to be fragmented and video will be glichy and messes with the memory card.
Is this legit!? Bc I'm struggling working for Krogers delivery and would be more than willing to pay for such a thing to fuck this camera out of its capabilities. Like I have temper and it's ungodly difficult to not just rip the thing off the dash an throw it out the window, slam on my breaks, and reverse and run it over multiple times, or head back to the hub an bitch out mgmt over an over. I have been in delivery for years and this type of shit is the absolute worst thing I've ever encountered 😅 please advise
Companies are making any excuse to push for driverless trucks..this is the beginning. First the cams in vehicles and now They are saying they are short on drivers. It is coming .. They already had test runs from Texas to Cali that was successful
Scare tactic to keep u in line. I would leave but I make to much money as a w-2 employee. So I deal with it for now. I've noticed lately it going off more than it ever did and I'm not doing anything that I didnt do before. Almost as if they've updated it or something idk. Starting to get to me idk how much longer I can last. When I can't act normal behind the wheel while being safety conscious and efficient at my job its time to leave and it looks as if its almost time.
Lytx has improved some of the camera's capabilities. I notice now the red glow from the IR when it's illuminated when I got out early in the am. they already got me on a false seatbelt alarm and earlier for the placement of my phone in such a way as it was blocking my entire face from the lens.. so now I just drive all day with the sun visor pulled down and doing exactly the same thing :))
@@kenrobinson1099 I did the sun visor thing also for awhile until they called me up saying that the camera keep "going off" because it was being blocked. Im not so sure i believe that story.
@@SC68170 it is true I got the same thing if you block the camera it will send as “the camera is blocked” my boss actually showed me blocking it with the visor it records a clip and a detailed message saying the driver blocked the camera! Basically how the are programmed from what my boss told me was that it records anything not normal basically have to be a statue and 10&2 the hole day!also beware that a couple of our drivers got fired because they threw a bottle out the window because they were littering! Our company we are not allowed to be on the phone at all including a Bluetooth! It’s an automatic termination!!! Just more and more bs by the day !! Go figure
informative leading up to the usb attack in following videos. doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand how it works. there is no way to hack the units if they are mounted in the cab and doing so will cause the camera to send alerts.. but the USB attack will disable the camera. The Lytx cameras are pretty tough to open without completely removing them from the cab and anybody who attempts doing so will end up breaking the camera housing... and I can tell you for a fact that the camera will detect the snapping of the plastic and report it.
I just quit my job about this camera …..and the company says …..ohhh we just need that for insurance discount we never going to see that image we don’t have access to the videos BS…..
a lot of people are doing the same exact thing and a lot of employers are saying the same exact thing.. they have live access to them. Good on you for standing up to your own beliefs!
I have some ir night vision scopes and ir goggles and they all came with warnings saying do not stare or look into the ir light because it's harmful to your eyes even though it's invisible. For those that don't know how it works, ir infrared light is invisible to the naked eye so like my scope for instance has a camera in it that sees the invisible light so if it's pitch black out and I turn the scope on I can't see anything until I turn the ir light on, there are some animals that can see it but not very many. Anyway the company I drive for installed these LYTX cameras in our tractors and since it can see us in the dark it's using ir light and if you have a phone that takes pictures at night and you take a picture of the camera in the dark it will show the ir lights behind the blue covers, so I would show your company facts about ir light being harmful to a person's eyes so you want it off or out of the truck.
Oh, I see. So.. Lytx is the true cause of market inflation due to drivers quitting and transportation costs going up globally lmao.. I'm kidding, ofc. But damn yall, this is a hot mess. I'm not a driver but I could tell you right now this would drive me insane. How about we suggest they add these cameras to all the corporate vehicles as well so management can get a taste of their own medicine?
My company told me that i can find a new job if i dont want my biometric data taken by lytx, and is allowing them to use our data to improve there system and provide more services with out compensation, i did find out you can trash there optics by running a high powered lazer directly at camera lens, but i do not agree with this technology, its an invasive violation of driver privacy, and as the Supreme courts have ruled that drivers even if there not oweners of the vehicle are still operating the vehicle are entitled to a reasonable expectation of privacy, and the health concerns of your eyes being subject to infared radiation for prolonged periods cant be good
Ya at Jbhunt we got them and thay report us all the time for seatbelts that were wearing and it likes to catch speed limit sign for on an off-ramps and likes to report us for speeding and they yell at us while we’re driving all the time good times
My company has these, get a red light trigger on right/left turns!!!! Even when I slow down to under 5 mph!!! The slightest jerk triggers it…but only certain turns in my route….other turns wobble the shit outta the vehicle and nothing!!! Shit stress me out..,Any advice???
@@nydamboy It would take a while since the company I used to work for had them in all the trucks that were scattered all over the country and had to be scheduled to be picked up and transported long distances for repairs.. I worked out of Nashua, home office in Minnesota, and truck was repaired in Rochester NY so I could easilly get time off from the camera always poking me in the face.. and then destroy another one.
The company is probably reading the comments on videos such as this and developing counter measures. I would suggest keeping quiet, getting creative, and communicating to friends in private, when you are off work at home or wherever. AI is powerful stuff but it isn’t God. It does have limitations and everyone should be busy discovering and learning what they are
They could be but there's only so much technology they can add or create to counter tampering measures. every little thing they do to add counter measures to their devices just drives up the manufacturing cost the end buyer isn't going to want to pay for when there are cheaper alternatives... back in the 70's manufacturers of CB radios went from 23 channel cb radios that were controlled with crystals for the channel oscillators to PLL chips and 40 channels in a measure to thwart any attempts by radio hackers to add more channels to the 23 that were already in play. What they ultimately did was make it easier to add more channels by grounding the PLL chips pins with a couple of toggle switches. So ideally no matter what they do and no matter how much time they spend spying on people who want to eliminate the cameras, in the end where there's a will there's a way. As for the change from 23 to 40 channels, before the PLL chip came into play it required a lot of mucking around on the circuit board with solder and adding crystals to gain a few extra channels.. with the PLL chip 40 channel radios, one ground wire and a toggle switch would double your channels. With the camera's AI, they are basically working with fixed criteria and tend to ignore conditions that do no fit into their AI narrative so when you work out of the box for solutions, they don't know how to deal with it and simply ignore it because one false decision could end up costing them a shit ton of money in a lawsuit because their truck cab police filed a false report some asshole was unable to fully process and terminated a driver under unreasonable conditions.
Do these record video of the green light is off? My camera has been “off” for 2 months already and I had to SLAM on the brakes today for someone who I let go in front of me at an intersection and they had the audacity to brake check me. Does it record?? If it does, I’m 1000% terminated. Tryna find out so I’m prepared..
The green light should be on all of the time once you have activated the camera by starting the truck.. some stay on even when the truck isn't being used so don't trust that it's off if the truck is parked.. that's all dependant on how the camera is configured. if the green light is off you should be ok but don't brag about it not being active. Watch what the lights do when you first start your vehicle. the camera self checks itself and reaches out to a server and indicates to it that it is active and should leave the green light turned on.
A driver I work with got his windshield replaced, the windshield replacement company, broke the mounting brackets for the camera, the mounting brackets are hard to find and require a special tool, he has a 100 percent record and going on 6 months and no write uos
if the camera is a Lytx camera, the brackets can be bought directly from Lytx and the special tool is nothing more than a torx bit.. albeit a very small torx bit.
We had these installed in our trucks at work on 5-1-2022. They went active on Mon. 5-2-2022. At the time of this writing 5-5-2022 all drivers hate them. How do you turn the volume up on them? I can hear the machine talk, just barely, & I'd like to know what it's saying. If you can help, many thanks.
I do not have an answer for that question as the cameras I currently own are an older model. at present life is keeping me busy with other problems but sooner or later I will obtain the new Lytx cameras and do an autopsy on them and look for any exploits.
I agree, Bro. All these cameras do is cost companies drivers. Forward facing I understand completely and I drive a Pete with a forward facing Samsara camera and a personally owned Rove dash cam I run because you just can't trust the daily commuters and road dictators. I went to pass some twat on I89 up in VT early saturday morning and they gunned it and paced the side of my trailer because they were determined not to follow in the construction up at exit 11 and kept me out in the left lane.. this is the kind of crap that never gets caught on any of the cameras and nobody ever barks about. This crap goes on nightly on my trip between NH and Colchester VT. One day a moose or a deer is going to run out in front of one of them and at the end of the day, BAD TRUCKER! I can't tell you how many times I've ran into a deer carcass that came out of the darkness and had to make evasive maneuvers to evade them.. and these degenerates play this game end to end night after night.. there's actually one of my videos of one playing games with one of the dairy companies that use that road nightly hauling heavy 100K+ . When I passed him the loser in front of the dairy hauler gave up on the 68 mph truck and decided to play keep away with the 75 mph truck. the people I work for were home sleeping tight in their beds and knew nothing about it because the camera's don't concentrate on jackasses... just you when you make contact with them or kill the game players when they cause an accident or fatality.
@@kenrobinson1099 I agree! Plus they've got no legal reasons for doing it the way they are! They could at least point the camera from over head or from the passenger side! Why do they insist on having a full view of your private space? They're rotten and they treat people like diapers!
I like videos that inform people what this robot is capable of, but I would highly suggest not suggesting anything on youtube on how to hack it, because lytx is watching every damn video about itself to learn how to beat all of you into submission. This video isn't really a hack, but very imformative, but if you find a true way to beat the system, don't post it on youtube, beat it yourself and enjoy the years of the rewards with a few close friends, good luck (i mean it, no sarcasm) and drive safe
they can only cram so much AI into the cameras hardware in effort to create defeats, and every time they do they are creating new flaws somebody else is going to take advantage of, and the end result is the cameras cost to manufacture are going to continue to rise which will cause customers to look elsewhere for a cheaper solution. in the end, there is nothing they can do to prevent a portable induction heater from killing the camera. Believe me when I tell you this; where there's a will there's a way.
Perhaps a strategically raised vessel of liquid???? No, the unit is broken, it can't send in its daily "I'm still alive and kicking." signal and your truck gets called in for a replacement. They send the expensive box off for warantee and those folks open it, see it was destroyed by water and then you get a rough phone call....
I'm going to make this as simple as I can. the vents are covered with a small mesh material that has holes in it small enough to allow ventilation.. it however is impervious to the penetration of water molecules and they will simply bead up and roll off the camera.. the only way to get water in is by poking a larger hole in them and then you are back at square one and getting terminated from your job for tampering with the camera.
they record all of the time in 15 second intervals.. when you trigger an event it sends a copy of the last 15 seconds to whomever is interested in what you are doing behind the wheel... even if it's something completely innocent, they know about it. The AI on the camera is constantly monitoring and analyzing your activity and recognizes even something as simple as when you are yawning.
Ok so when the red light blinks they send that 15 sec back to be analyzed, is there any time it sends back without the red light blinking ? For example if it recognizes a cigarette will send info back without blinking red ?
nothing. Wrap the entire thing in lead and create a faraday jacket. it will stop signals from leaving the camera because they cannot penetrate the lead... but be forewarned your camera is a cousin of ET and when it isn't heard from, the powers that be will start asking why.
Literally 1 month ago I absolutely LOVED my job, couldn’t say nothing wrong about it, and referred friends and family….UNTIL these spy cams! Now I don’t want to work here anymore. Every day I have to hear some stupid shit about what they see on the camera. Everything other than shit I was hired to do. I don’t get pulled over, no speeding tix, nothing…that’s why I was hired for my good driving record. Now I can’t have a snack (eat sunflower seeds that help me thru my 3rd shift job), can’t drink water, can’t hold a phone (but duh), I can’t even vape anymore. Went 2 years with no issues. Doing the silent quitting or whatever you call it now gonna let them fire me. Idfc anymore. It’s so intrusive and it feels like shit that my company doesn’t trust me so fuck them!!!!!
I posted a video today. Take a look at it. all the information you need with a link to another video I found while looking for reference material for the viewers of this video. Hope it helps. I you are not dealing with the Lytx drivecam, try to get me some make and model information so I can perform some experiments of my own and get more details on it. I replied yesterday with a brief reply. Mini Ductor Venom is an induction heater. I will turn lug nuts on your wheels cherry red. It will also liquify the solder joints on the circuit board of electronic devices. It was merely something to ensure the camera doesn't have an opportunity to rat before it's shot dead. The camera won't act on you just being around it. You can also try using a faraday blanket wrapped around the camera. It will prevent the camera from making a connection with the outside world.. but will not stop it from recording. I'll have more information as time passes. In a few days when I'm done with some personal projects on my home I will do a capacitor kill on my Drivecam and post the video.
there is no fooling the cameras. the people who manufacture them didn't leave much out... BUT! the cameras' do phone home periodically. I don't know if it's scheduled or just random. depending on how it was wired, you can put a switch in the ignition feed from whatever source it takes it from (back of ignition switch/fuse panel) and prevent the camera from waking up when the truck is started. it gets power from multiple places but is not plugged directly into the DLC and taking power from there like an ELD. there are three wires in the electrical harness.. red, dark red/maroon/ and black. the darker red/maroon wire is the ignition wire that wakes up and causes the camera to boot. so long as it doesn't get this signal it will remain at sleep. I would install a switch on both lines and turn the camera off.. depending on the people that own the truck, odds are they didn't put a lot of energy into preventing the wiring from being tampered with and ran all three of the power lines directly into the fuse panel, one constant for the power, one that powers when the key is turned on to start and run the engine, and a ground (BLACK). Whatever you do don't believe what people tell you about them not watching you.. that's an all out LIE and they DO watch even if it's when they peek in an review the store video clips. the camera has about 32GB of memory on it and stores the video in 15 second loops. when the memory fills up the oldest video rolls off. SO always bare in mind that regardless of anything you are doing, counting backwards in 15 second increments is how much video they have of you or have recorded in a consecutive loop.. THAT IS A FACT. in the MEANTIME, I own two SF64 drive cams and am in the process of showing the world how to put the cameras to sleep permanently.. I'm going to guess Lytx probably didn't count on somebody dismantling a camera and educating the driver base on what can be done to dispatch their windshield nannies. Below the blue buttons and to the left and right of the lights at bottom center is where the IR light comes from. Updated versions of the camera have a higher intensity IR LED so they can see you better in dark situations.. put some tape over those areas and night blind it. I touched on this in my videos. GOOD LUCK! and keep watching for an update on the Camera Killing!
@@kenrobinson1099 also wanted to mention that after 3 days I’ve covered the camera facing inward with a piece of electrical tape lol ..I havnt heard a thing from my boss or any warning from the camera itself ..not sure how long it will last tho ..I will try the switch idea you mentioned also thanks for that info 👍...I’m wondering since I do work for such a small company that my boss isn’t paying much attention to it although I understand this could be dangerous just assuming he isn’t ...like I mentioned I have a very good relationship with my boss and worse case scenario I get fired (which is unlikely ) ...but right now there are so many driving jobs out there I’m not very concerned about loosing this job ...that being said I love working where I do and would like to stay ...thanks again for these vids and if you figure anything else out please let me know ...looking forward to more info thanks Ken 😁
@@madyank779 When the camera senses a block event, it notifies Lytx who in turn notifies your company. the camera doesn't feed directly to your employer. it goes to Lytx where they access the videos with a desktop app. Just remember this! if you trigger an event it's not just about the event. they can trigger your camera to send the video cache and that's where things can get interesting and is the loophole they use to tell you that they can't live view the cameras. So beware! Even in a good relationship with your boss, here's something to think about... Has your company had lot of accidents? driver violations, or did the cameras just get installed because you think somebody in management decided cameras would be a good idea? the reality is their insurance company forced them to install them or is giving them a break on their insurance rates.. either way the camera isn't about them, it's about YOU. I just walked away from a job last Tuesday that I had quit two years earlier. in the span of time since I left the first time, cameras had been installed in their trucks (albeit only forward facing) and I was told point blank that their new insurance company forced them to install the cameras... but that wasn't my reason for walking away from the company.. it was merely a stepping stone job but the reality is everybody is getting the cameras one way or another like it or not.
@@kenrobinson1099 hey Ken ..yes the company just installed the cameras recently ..my boss who is the owner explained to me that the insurance company would jack up his rates if he wouldn't do it ..he assured me hes not watching me but does get alerts when an "event" happens ..maybe I'll get used to it maybe not and meanwhile I wont cover the lens while I'm driving ..thanks for the reply I appreciate your input 👍
@@madyank779 Your boss may not care about the events since he's only in it for the rate savings on his insurance. The video also puts you square at the top of the responsibility totem and the insurance company can/will/does go after drivers when there's been an accident when they are found at fault. Insurance companies are ruthless.
I never had problems wearing a device.. I do however know there are some companies that frown upon the use of them so there is some chance the cameras can detect nearby devices by wait of the signal they produce.
they don't use the camera for gps tracking. it's all involved with your ELD if you happen to have one in your cab. The camera is only interested in "events" like speeding, following distance, what's going on in your cab (no seat belt, phone in hand, distractions, yawning) but does monitor your speed by gps to tell when you are speeding. the same data used by Waze is used by the camera to determine the correct speed and measure it against the actual speed you are moving at, so when you see that posted speed limit change, it changes with it..so when you drop from a 55 mph to a 35 mph and continue at 55 your safety department will know.
So many people in my company lost their jobs because of this camera. When the drivers covered the inward facing camera with the visors, the company reprimanded them. A friend running husband and wife team had this camera installed in his truck. He was unaware but once he saw the safety guys watching other drivers in real time and laughing at them. He was very livid and told them to remove the camera.
Could be but you never know, and if ET doesn't phone home periodically, the overlords that pay you will be questioning why they haven't heard back from it.. that's the double edge sword you have to live with.... it's either working or somebody is wondering why it hasn't been heard from in a while. Even if it is disconnected from the power sources and disabled, there is battery in the back of them between the mounting pivots and it will provide enough energy for it to phone home and report an issue. But if you are unsure if it's working or not, cover the lens with something and wait a while.
I used to speed 10 over the posted speed limit and never got bagged for it and I ran through plenty of lights that turned red at the last second. Doubt they will bang you for that unless you suddenly stomp the brakes and caused a hard brake condition.
@@kenrobinson1099 These cameras were just installed into the enite transit system fleet. No one really know when it records and the union hasn't been much help. Thanks for the upload and information!!

are they installing Lytx cameras or something else? road facing Samsara driver cameras are harmless...Lytx cameras on the other hand are invasive and will report everything it sees that is configured... speed, rolling stops, drinking, eating, and even yawning. the IA on the Lytx camera's is scary shit.. If the company does the install themselves and they don't bury the harness to the camera, unplug it. 10 Roads mechanics didn't bother to bury the wiring to the camera because they're just dopes.. so everything was exposed and easily accessible. The brown wire is the wake up trigger that is used to turn on the camera when the engine is started.. unplug it. they don't tap into the diagnostics dlc so the camera doesn't get any secondary power in the even the wires are tampered with.
@@CANZONERICOBAIN the battery inside of the camera will power it even if you pull the electrical and com lines. it's designed to rat you out under every conceivable condition. if it fails to phone home, your safety department will be all over you to get it in for maintenance due to the fact that there is battery backup.
in these parts recording a person w/o their knowledge is against the law and violates our wiretap laws. an entire chain of coffee shops in this neck of the woods was forced to remove their cameras simple because the people being recorded were unaware they were being recorded.. Drivecam records constantly and contrary to what drivers are being led to believe will report anything the camera deems risky behavior.
Welp, I've done that and more... im starting to think they're terrified of firing me because I've said some crazy stuff😂 Just FYI- I could careless if they fired me. The reality of it is they need me more than I need them.
I threw a big ass red bull out the window at a 4 wheeler for fucking with me. Great shot to smacked his shit Hard! Do you think their gona pull me into safety camera definitely caught that! 😂
depends on what they are looking for... I routinely dumped my cold coffee out the window and never an issue.. they were only concerned about people with utensils in their hands, yawning, and following distance...course one time while I was on vacation down in Caroline at 6:00 am the safety department called me to complain about the placement of my phone holder on the windshield.
Probably nothing. an Induction Innovations MD-500 on the other hand would absolutely annihilate the cameras solder joints and metallic components and render the camera dead and leave no outward signs that it's been tampered with because it only heats metal and there is no real way short of breaking the plastic housing to get inside of the camera. that's not to say the camera's can't be taken apart but unless you know how they are put together I guarantee you will break something trying to seperate the shell haves enclosing the circuit boards. The Md-500 is a 12v portable version of their ac models and I can tell you from owning one that they don't play around when it comes to making metal parts hot enough to melt. there's a rope coil option you can get and wrap around the body of the camera and send it to the grave with the Ductor. Solary makes a cheap one you can get for under $150.00 but would require an ac outlet to work.
Right after I posted the video I parted ways with my driving job with 10 Roads Express (cameras in the trucks and politics drove me out!) I took some time off to rethink my path in life and ended up getting hired on with a local air freight carrier and my hours of operation have prevented me from doing much in the way of personal projects. I ordered parts to build the usb killer and it turns out one of the components I need is no longer available... rest assured though! there is a path you can take if you want to dive into killing Lytx drivecam.. You can use a generic disposable camera by opening the case and using the two polls on the flash bulb to inject the current directly into the usb port on the camera. Just be careful as the current is enough to hurt you if you don't know what you are doing.
They do do not let them lie to u and say they don’t. These videos about this camera is bullshit. They can live stream and tell u exactly what you were talkin about. I’ve seen it with my own eyes and ears. It’s all about these cameras nothin else.
oddly enough, you cannot do that without getting caught red handed. The camera senses shock and will send out an alert if it's tampered with or malfunctions.
Yes. it sends a signal to severs to let them know all is well. when it's not signalling the servers, an alert is sent to the powers who will in turn want to see why it's failing to communicate and will assume it's malfunctioning or check to see if it's been tampered with. When you ignite it, you will see the lights turn on momentarily. when it senses a problem, your safety department gets notified and they can request video from the camera to see if you've been tampering with it.
But driver retention harder.. so how much money are u really saving and at what cost? For instance, Morale will be down, finding drivers is difficult equates to losing freight or revenue because u don't have enough drivers. Cost of cameras and tech. Constantly hiring drivers cost money. The backlash the company will get. Is it worth it???...how much money are u actually saving?... I would argue that in the grand scheme of things your actually losing money
That's getting darn near impossible because insurance companies are the ones urging companies to use the cam and using lower rates as incentive to install them.
Not that hard been driving for the past 30 yrs; never had driver facing cams. My current driving job does not have them, if they did, I'd be gone. I got to much driving experience to put up w/ this BS.
Telling folks to hold the phone below the camera is dumb, then the camera will see you looking down away from the road. How bout just dont use the phone....i mean there's a CRAZY idea right!!??
The truck I drove recently with these cameras was a Volvo VNL and directly under the cab over the battery is a power cut off that cuts the power to the cab and fuse panel. Every day when I parked the tractor at the end of my trip I used to cut the power so as to drain the internal battery in the camera. nobody ever griped about the camera being dead so I'm going to say you can.. HOWEVER!! recently the camera was replaced with a new SF64 which was identical to the previous cameras but the IR was visible when it was turned on by the camera in the early hours of the day. I passed some information claiming that the cameras were phoning home and checking in but it's anybody's guess as to when they are actually doing it. It could be just a random act to ensure the cameras are still working or it could be performing the action when it's booted. on average my camera was powerless for two days at a time. No matter what I tell you about the cameras, they are being changed and updated routinely and the powers that control them will never tell you the real facts about what the can and cannot do and I'm going to go out on a limb and say most of what the camera can do is fee based and cheap companies that opt for basic features don't get the periodic calls from ET. Alternatively to all of this, one of my buddies working for the same company was driving a tractor that had gotten a new windshield and the 3M tape on the mounting bracket for the camera was reused and (as you can probably imagine) the bracket wouldn't stay attached to the windshield and kept falling off. Finally the driver got tired of it swinging around and removed it and drove for days and as far as I know nobody from the safety department contacted him about it. it's a roll of the dice so if you disconnect the power, disconnect the batteries and then disconnect the camera at its power source. unless you have the tiny security bit to remove the screw holding in the plug in the side of the camera (which is a bitch to get at and hard to see) you will be better off pulling all three fuses in the power and ground lines and unplugging the connector to the DLC lines if yours has that option installed. The fuses and the option plug all come out the same end of the mesh loom around the supply lines. the dlc lines may provide sufficient current to power the camera so make sure you unplug it before igniting the engine and moving the vehicle. Look for the fresh video just posted on the power connections.
@@kenrobinson1099 let’s say if you get a critical event & then removed it 15mins later after 2 days of being unplugged & then plugged it back in. While it reset or still uploaded the last recently critical event once it’s gets power again? For instants if it has flash memory. Like a cell phone. If you record any video on a cell phone and then removed the battery and haven’t power that cell phone from 3 years later . then plug it back in, it’s still will have that Video footage save on the phone. Do they work the same as a cell phone with flash memory?
@@LeveluplivinThe video is saved and uploaded to the Lytx operators, analyzed and reported to your safety department. Nothing you do beyond the event is going to save you from the lashings you're going to get. The video records in 15 second loops and once the on board memory fills up, the oldest video falls off. it works like any other looping camera. there is 32gb of memory on the SF64 and the video is of low quality. purportedly the camera can store up to 100 hours of video if that gives you any idea. So rule of thumb and always remember this. everything you did for the previous 15 seconds is already stored when the camera triggers.. so they already have the evidence that is needed to coach or terminate you. Believe me when I tell you this.. the engineers who developed the cameras and the AI took everything into consideration that can happen.. like a sudden impact that causes a catastrophic loss of electrical power to the unit from the vehicle batteries.. it has an onboard battery to prevent loss of evidence by keeping the on board memory alive.. pretty much works exactly like the battery in your computer that keeps the time and bios configuration in tact when you unplug it from the electrical outlet. the key to the cameras ability to rag on you is preventing it from storing anything in the first place.. that's why I am a big fan of the USB kill or some time of intentional electrical damage to the camera. Between my work life and personal projects I will eventually tell the audience exactly what it's going to take to snuff the cameras as fast and as humanely possible so as to limit the idea that they have been tampers with. There are exposed connections and I'm certain enough overcurrent over the lines will make the camera go full retard. For the moment I am concentrating on Lytx cameras. When I get more details on alternative cameras I will air my finds in videos. Hope this helps!
@@Leveluplivin The one thing I find interesting about that particular model is how exposed the antenna is. the road side of the camera has a grill and you can peek inside the camera. it's probably made that way so as to give them the best shot at making a data connection with the cell towers. You can get lead in thin sheets and possibly make a faraday blanket to block the signal. most trucks nowadays have radars located in the bumper to alert the driver that's he's too close to the vehicle they are following. I was driving a Volvo VNL with this system and it's absolutely annoying if you are trailing another truck/car so we used several sheets of ordinary aluminum foil and covered the (VADA) which would jam the system and stop the alarms and forced braking of the truck. My main objective in all of this isn't to help create cures that could potentially raise an eyebrow of your superiors. My aim is to kill the units quickly so as to prevent them from recording anything. I will have a 3rd cam within a few days and begin the experiments. I will post video results.
@@Leveluplivin I’m pretty sure they will get a notification from the website that the camera has been disconnected. Even i have that feature with a home security cam.
@@Leveluplivin our cameras were connected to cab power. under the cab of a Volvo VNL there is a power cutoff. I turned mine off intentionally every day.. never heard a word and it shut the camera off immediately and wouldn't turn on until the next morning when I turned it back on and started the truck.
You have no legal privacy standpoint when operating a COV that uses a DriveCam. You agreed to the terms when you were hired. DriveCam is not there to analyze facial recognition, but for driving behavior and safety for the sake of liability. I'm soo tired of people talking about 'invasion of their privacy' crap. I don't like the DriveCam either but I knew I was going to have to deal with it when I signed up for my job.
the cameras came after the fact and not even involved in the truck for nearly a year after I got hired.. as for facial recognition, it has nothing to do with what the camera is doing. I was simply pointing out that it needs to have your face in view for the ai to do its job and put together a picture of what's happening in the driver's seat. as for no legal standpoint, I beg to differ. the laws vary from state to state when it comes to surveillance of any kind, and in this state even an employer cannot intentionally record you and use it against you. doing so violates this states wire tap laws. in fact, an entire coffee shop chain was forced to remove their cameras for that very reason. and I've also heard even some large carriers are ditching the cameras because of grey areas and crossing state line boundaries where certain laws do apply.
@@kenrobinson1099 So this is after the fact? You still made the informed choice to get behind the wheel and do your job. You can't cry about privacy infringement when your choice gave consent in the first place. What? Your employer forced you to continue to work for them? Let me know how that works for you when you decide to take legal action.
Yeah ours was after the fact also and a lot of guys were upset one left the company over it. The rest of us had no choice but to deal with it unless we were going to go. We were told they were for insurance but I was in an accident once and told the insurance company about the camera and they knew nothing about it. I told my boss about sending them the video and he said not to mention it to them and they weren’t doing that. Personally I think it’s just a liability thing. Overtime they don’t pay attention to them as much. I mean if these would’ve gone to our insurance company, we would no longer be insured some of the stuff that has happened. LOL
WTF are you talking about ? Nobody at my company agreed to these when hired. We don't even have them yet but they have been ordered and are on the way. It's now a drive it or quit situation. Everyone wants front and side/rear cams but not facial with voice recording. We can't make a private phone call from inside the truck anymore.
Thea are being demanded by insurance companies not necessarily by the companies that own the truck. If you aren’t doing anything wrong then you have nothing to fear
Don't give me that "aren't doing anything wrong, don't worry" crap. These units are now capable of recording up to 100 hours of video. They can download the files and watch your whole week and nit-pick you to death. You go 56 in a 55 every once in a while, be a damn shame for you to lose your job over it. It's coming and your refusal to see it heading right for you is sad.
Not true. I always wear a seat belt especially knowing the company had a strict 3 strikes termination policy for seat belt violations. Company got a 12 second clip black/ white, grainy/ blurry, can’t see the seat belt cause my body is blocking it, breasts/ stomach area, strap was over my left shoulder and stomach, lower rib cage. Company said it was still a write up because they demand the shoulder strap hug the neck on the collarbone and across the breastbone. I quit. Last thing I need is termination on my DAC for a safety policy violation. Company write ups were constant. Door was resolving/ high turnover. No job security. Stressful.
that's like saying "to keep honest people honest." it's complete BS. I don't care how long a body has been out on the road and which companies they work for.. take Walmart drivers.. I've seen them do wrong things behind the wheel. the camera doesn't stop it because people do things behind the wheel routinely that the cameras don't like but we often have to do those things.. like taking a sip of water from a mug w/o actually stopping to do so. I could list dozens of things the cameras now aim to stop. Fuck Lytx #lytx #fucklytx #fuckdrivecam #hackdrivecam
Bruh… ok… imagine police installing cameras in ur home and is like “if u dont do anything wrong” Like there needs to be some level of privacy. Love the video. Thank you. I remember when I first started and my boss told me a story of a driver just flipping out, out of nowhere and started punching the camera. I said to myself why the hell would someone do that? Now I know exactly why.

So the short end of this is, companies are bound to exclude off time video from the cabs and can get smacked with serious legal problems.
indeed in feel like my privacy is being violated and it’s even more scary if the lytx sells your data
i would support the idea of lawyers fighting agaist this “policy”
There is a class action lawsuit brewing in Illinois.
I like how these companies disabled the comments on their page they know us truck drivers know we will fill the page with all the invasion of privacy this camera does and how it adds more stress to us than we already have with the terrible drivers on the road .
Especially the following distance mfs cutting in front of you mad fast
It’s already pissing me off
We just got them at my company.

“Inward” could mean a lot of things lol. But that’s cool, What state you in?

We have them getting shipped right now . Guys are real upset about this shit ! Me included. Another distraction in my opinion.
Big distraction. We have had them for awhile now. You end up not breaking hard just to try and beat the camera from recording. Old ones killed our truck batteries in a weekend. We are now getting new version ones today and they do more info like this video.
Quit I would never drive for a company that disrespect my privacy!!
Thanks we are getting these soon. I’m going to look into it.
Oh, I see.

After the holidays I'll be posting a video demonstrating how to voltage spike the cameras into a coma.

I do the same thing. I unscrew the tamper thing. Does it tell them that its been unplugged. I hope not 😅
The company is probably reading the comments on videos such as this and developing counter measures.
EMP the damn thing.
EMP??
A driver I work with got his windshield replaced, the windshield replacement company, broke the mounting brackets for the camera, the mounting brackets are hard to find and require a special tool, he has a 100 percent record and going on 6 months and no write uos
if the camera is a Lytx camera, the brackets can be bought directly from Lytx and the special tool is nothing more than a torx bit.. albeit a very small torx bit.
Do you think an emp attack would do well on it?
probably.

These have big cooling vents that the old ones didn't have. Perhaps a strategically raised vessel of liquid?
Is it only recording when red light blinks? Or does it record without red light blink ?
they record all of the time in 15 second intervals.. when you trigger an event it sends a copy of the last 15 seconds to whomever is interested in what you are doing behind the wheel... even if it's something completely innocent, they know about it.
What happens if i wrap the whole thing in Saran wrap? (obviously I know this won't have an effect on the microphone)
nothing. Wrap the entire thing in lead and create a faraday jacket. it will stop signals from leaving the camera because they cannot penetrate the lead... but be forewarned your camera is a cousin of ET and when it isn't heard from, the powers that be will start asking why.

Just had these installed today on our trucks where I work ..no warning at all ..I would like to know more of any tips or tricks to fool thing thing
there is no fooling the cameras. the people who manufacture them didn't leave much out... BUT! the cameras' do phone home periodically.
It claims that it can detect an iwatch and even non-visible Bluetooth ear piece. Is this true? What about a person with a hearing aid?
I never had problems wearing a device.. I do however know there are some companies that frown upon the use of them so there is some chance the cameras can detect nearby devices by wait of the signal they produce.
Is there any way to tell from a model number or from the outside if it has GPS tracking?
they don't use the camera for gps tracking. it's all involved with your ELD if you happen to have one in your cab.
So wheres the fucking hack
How does the audio work? Can they eavesdrop at anytime?
Yes if they choose to but it records audio every time it sees an infarction.

The AI bullshit. We have these on our buses.
What if there’s no lights whatsoever? Is it still recording?
Could be but you never know, and if ET doesn't phone home periodically, the overlords that pay you will be questioning why they haven't heard back from it.. that's the double edge sword you have to live with.... it's either working or somebody is wondering why it hasn't been heard from in a while. Even if it is disconnected from the power sources and disabled, there is battery in the back of them between the mounting pivots and it will provide enough energy for it to phone home and report an issue. But if you are unsure if it's working or not, cover the lens with something and wait a while.

What does a high power magnet do
Probably nothing. an Induction Innovations MD-500 on the other hand would absolutely annihilate the cameras solder joints and metallic components and render the camera dead and leave no outward signs that it's been tampered with because it only heats metal and there is no real way short of breaking the plastic housing to get inside of the camera. that's not to say the camera's can't be taken apart but unless you know how they are put together I guarantee you will break something trying to seperate the shell haves enclosing the circuit boards.
Have you tried that usb attack yet?

Yes. it sends a signal to severs to let them know all is well. when it's not signalling the servers, an alert is sent to the powers who will in turn want to see why it's failing to communicate and will assume it's malfunctioning or check to see if it's been tampered with. When you ignite it, you will see the lights turn on momentarily. when it senses a problem, your safety department gets notified and they can request video from the camera to see if you've been tampering with it.

@@kenrobinson1099 the model I have is DC3P0 it’s the CDMA model
Signal jammer
only jammer you can use is a cell jammer and they are incredibly illegal and easy to track down. Google it!
OMG why are you subjecting yourself to this?? quit!
How about a Gps blocker...just try one
It runs off cell towers. If you block the signal so i cant upload, it will temporarily save the footage till it regains signal and unloads then.
@@MicroAppleStudios what happens if it’s been unplugged for a few days And then plug it back in? Will it still up load the video?
@@Leveluplivin I’m pretty sure they will get a notification from the website that the camera has been disconnected. Even i have that feature with a home security cam.
@@Leveluplivin our cameras were connected to cab power. under the cab of a Volvo VNL there is a power cutoff. I turned mine off intentionally every day.. never heard a word and it shut the camera off immediately and wouldn't turn on until the next morning when I turned it back on and started the truck.
@@kenrobinson1099 could you do a video on where it’s located at?
LOL
@@martech360 How did an event trigger while parked and on a lunch break?
WTF are you talking about ? Nobody at my company agreed to these when hired. We don't even have them yet but they have been ordered and are on the way. It's now a drive it or quit situation. Everyone wants front and side/rear cams but not facial with voice recording. We can't make a private phone call from inside the truck anymore.
Thea are being demanded by insurance companies not necessarily by the companies that own the truck. If you aren’t doing anything wrong then you have nothing to fear
Sheep
Stressful.
If you don’t do anything wrong
that's like saying "to keep honest people honest." it's complete BS.
I hate these dudes... they're so ignorant
Bruh… ok… imagine police installing cameras in ur home and is like “if u dont do anything wrong”
Like there needs to be some level of privacy. Our truck has built in bluetooth and i usually talk to my fiance but cant anymore because some fucker somewhere is watching and listening. They do not need to know my business.
