  • www.autobytel.c... Last year the Sorento was the first vehicle built in the U.S by Kia. Now the 2012 Kia Sorento Crossover SUV comes packing better fuel economy thanks to a more fuel efficient engine. Believe it or not the Sorento comes with 3 different engine choices. The first is a 3.5 liter V-6 that produces a healthy 276 horsepower and 248 lb-ft. of torque. Being the largest engine of the bunch the fuel economy is not as good at 20 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway. Those are still respectable numbers. Then there is a basic middle man 2.0 liter engine that comes equipped on the base model vehicle. But the real gem is the all new GDI series of engine from Kia. This 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine features and direct injection to not only get better fuel economy but it also produces less emissions. Gas Mileage ratings are 22 MPG in the city and a whopping 32 MPG on the highway. The power on this engine is also excellent at 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft. of torque.
The base price for the 2012 Kia Sorento is $21,250 with the fully loaded V-6 model going for $34,850. But opt for the GDI powered front wheel drive and you will spend about $25,000. On the inside the 2012 Kia Sorento features a ton of features. The crossover comes with keyless entry and push button start which is the future of motoring along with buttons on the steering wheel and more. The navigation system is great and features a large touch screen. The controls are easy to use and easy to find. And the overall look and design on the interior is good for an affordable crossover SUV.
The exterior of the 2012 Kia Sorento Crossover is probably the best looking of the entire 7-passenger class. The Sorento is competing against the Traverse from Chevrolet and the Pilot from Honda. When you throw on the 120 month 100k mile warranty on top of the class leading fuel economy; the 2012 Kia Sorrento is tough to beat.

Recently purchased the Sorento SX (same as the model in the video but with a V6.) Very impressed with fit, finish, features, and driveability, especially for a CUV. I didn't cross shop it with the Honda Pilot or Chevy Traverse, however, and I doubt others will either. Although it's a seven seat vehicle, it's much more comparable to the RAV4, CRV, and the Subaru Outback. Better to think of it as a grown up compact CUV than a downsized 7 passenger mid-size CUV.

The 3.5 V6 is rated at 276 hp, not 278 hp. And the 2.4 4cylinder with G.D.I. is rated at 191 h.p., not 181 hp. Just saying.

It would’ve been nice to know how tall you are to get a better idea of leg room in the middle seat. Also would’ve like to have seen you sitting in very back seat.

@LZSchneider It's actually become harder and harder to find serious faults with any brand new car. Automakers are building good products right now. That said, we of course try to point out the faults when we find them.
Also, I will try to stop re-using the same terms... it's certainly a bad habit to fall into. :)

I just don't like this guy. He uses the same terms for every car review. He just rubs me the wrong way...
