I understand the criticism of our defense in the first battle (I was the Sparta player). The idea of our defense was to try and bloody the enemy as much as possible with Bactria and Macedon, make them use up their ammunition and men as they slogged through city streets till they got to me with an (in theory) fresh army of Spartans, a “defense in depth” strategy if you will. Though in hindsight I see that we (and myself the most) should’ve had a more active defense than the static one we employed, and also held the walls rather than let the enemy into the city. Also, y’all have no idea how annoyed I was with those damn Iceni ambushers in this battle (I was the Arverni)😂😆🤣. Great strategy though 🤙
I think your plan might have worked on a different map that has a better, nore defensive victory point. Carthage's victory point is one of the hardest to defend compared to most maps but it was an interesting idea. And yeah, I think if you were a little more aggressive it might have been closer

Couple general tips about siege equipment I’d like to give to anyone interested: 1 There is a scorpion on siege towers which kills troops on the walls but will most likely empty on a mounted piece of artillery. This is not the case in barbarian settlements. 2 If the enemy has mountable artillery on the Wall they will most likely shoot your artillery down. My go to strat here is to put 2 or 3 (heavy) siege towers in front of my artillery as a shield, while other towers scale the walls where the mounted artillery is. 3 the amount of siege equipment you can bring depends on the amount of units you have, infantry will result in more siege equipment. Hope this may have been of help to you!

I agree with Apollo. reminds me of that one WW1 mod battle he had where the German player charged his cav head on and lost every man. Then in another battle the player used his cav correctly and did well.
Yeah you do wel if you use your cav good before sacrifycing it by charging in spears or pikes or letting them outside when you not microing the cav whit enemys
One of the things that must suck when playing at as high a level is implementing plays that were absolutely on point but the opposing player is just so good that it doesn't have the crushing impact that it would against your average player.
Hell yeah takes alot of guts to put yourself out there props to players like apollo that encourage and make videos to help ppl like me that dont know that much about the game and are trying get better
Compared to the previous few Total War videos, not specifically the tournament battles, the defense in this video was just felt so good to watch. Through the entire game most of the attacking army never even got past the walls, and in other areas they still were able to break into the city but got pushed back. Very nice defense.

the previous match felt like it was unfair. i knew neither of the teams and just kind of felt like lastcall were upmatched a lot, but this battle proved that this was in far less of such a degree than i initially thought. well played both

My biggest take away from watching this tournament so far has been a huge help. I've realized I need to pay way more attention when attacking and defending to where the stairs are on stone walled settlements. This is something I never thought about as much in my campaigns, but I'm realizing how important it is as an attacker to use my towers and ladders in the right spots in relation to where the stairs off the wall are. This has also been really interesting to watch, and I love how much siege tactics differ from field battles. It also makes the matches way longer and seems to focus more on tactics than field battles, where micro is key.
I actually use all of your total videos for education and entertainment. I really love your Rome 2 vids and I would love to be a part of a Rome 2 siege tournament in the future.

I think the reason the ambushers attack is because the attackers/enemy archers is trying to get to the walls and if all of them get to the walls there is nothing to attack except infantry so the ambushers is useless ! So i think hungry wolf has done a great job realizing that and keep up the good work !
A good assault, but personally I would of used some of the siege ammo to make at least one breach so that there was a garunteed way for the elephants to come in.

I would love to play this game with you I just need a tutorial on how to get the game and install the mods correctly if you could make a video I would be extremely glad to join you in some siege battles.
Shotels and most curved swords are typically crap at piercing armour as they can’t can’t really be used to pierce armour through as stabbing motion for example. A long sword is perfect against armour as if you were to thrust it at a chest plate it would go through. Curved blades are unmatched in slicing and dicing though, usually best with cavalry.
See how they hold the swords. the curved part is facing the holder and the pointy part on the enemy, the reason for this is not to stab an enemy but to chip away their armor, you hook them with it and then pull it. they aim at the straps of the enemy's armor
Last call did do much better attacking, but lots of unfortunate mistakes. Leaving archers on the wall without any protection, running into pikemen, rushing in generals... do appreciate their participation

I can say just hoplites is ok when defendings towers wher unit exit if there level up and good hero i hold siege 2 hours vs cartaignt and my troops was in half hp and enemy have more hp
I love thoses fight and all the competitor in it .... Only one thing i wish to see one time ... when using phalanx or Hoplite they usualy fight 16 + rank deep ... people over use stretch option in this game a bit too much at my taste ...

What id like to see is a succesful siege defense. Ive seen maybe 6 or 7 siege battles on your channel and ive only seen sucessful attacks.
