In the draenei starting area, when in Azure Watch, you are given a quest to find "The Missing Fisherman" on a nearby owlkin island. At the end of the docks is a night elf; Cowlen. He tells you that the gods have Forsaken him, and asks if you have been sent by them to 'finish the job.' You find out that due to the corruption from the radiation of the Draenei ship, the owlkin badly beat him and devoured his family, and that he had already tried (unsuccessfully) to end his life. When he woke up, there was blood everywhere. (optional Rp event) He asks for you to find the remains of his wife and young daughter, which are found the belly of one of the owlkin at an abandoned village nearby. Upon killing the beasts enough to remove their bones from its entrails, you return and give them to Cowlen. You receive some experience, and that's the end of the quest. Any more attempts to speak with Cowlen will result in him sobbing uncontrollably.
his daughter is alive, only his wife was eaten shes on the south part of the island hiding behind a log and you have to escort her through the wildkin to him
One think that really struck me as one of the creepiest on Wow was the slow creep of the Sillithid threat through several quests in several zones trying to figure out what the hell those things were. And Silithus to this day (for me, anyways) is the creepiest zone in the game, plaguelands be damned. Especially when you finally reached the Pinnacle of the Sillithid part, the whole chain of trying to find the Night Elf commander's daughter, only to have to kill her because she was completely corrupted by C'thun. I'd even go so far as to say that Sillithid hives are the most creepy places in World of Warcraft.
@Ragvarok You'll have to do it on classic servers, as revamps and re-revamps have removed or changed most. For Silithus one you should just follow the Cenarion Hold quest chain and you'll get there. Other quests are kind of all over southern Kalimdor, Southern Barrens downwards. Edit. Would recommend searching for Sillithid quests on web resources, since sadly I must admit it's been ages for me, and I've forgotten a lot.
"A special surprise" from the death knight starting zone has to be the creepiest quest I have done. For two reasons, how to do the quest objective and the ending to it. You enter a room filled with argent dawn members and 1. You have to kill an old friend and you have to straight up murder them in cold blood, before that they beg you to not fight by the lich king's side even though you still do up to the lights chapel and before you kill them The quest giver is urging you to hurry up. 2. At the end, the quest giver says to you "Felt good, didn't it? You're not one of them anymore, . You're Scourge. You're one of us. Forever.." What really makes it creepy is that it wasn't just friends, some were family and some took care of you, just for them to die by your hands. And that Knight Commander Plaguefist basically straight up says how your a slave to the lich king, forever.
@@Luis-gu8ir you have to go around a town full of ghosts to get a little girl (who is a ghost) the parts of her doll. after that, someone can give you an item so that the little girl stalls you.
Ahhh, Stitches. I still remember people would report his location to advise players to turn in quests in darkshire now or to stay off the road. My poor dwarf warrior, never stood a chance. Oddly, I miss him being around. Quests like that added a lot of flavor to locations, I can see why people want Vanilla WoW even though they probably want more of the current quality of life changes to stick around more than they think they do.
the child in the village of Drustvar leading you through the murdered village in BFA singing child songs about killing and it turns out in the end she is the witch herself eclipses every other creepy quest in wow ever made
I wonder how long it took for him to realize that you don't have to kill any of the hundreds of ghouls in the crypts. If you actually do the quest line correctly, you go into the main crypt the back way and come out behind the lich. Then when you kill Morbent, all the ghouls die automatically. Unless..... that wasn't originally the case and it was changed later. Still, even then, you could've gone back the way you came and not deal with the ghouls.
I remember Stitches coming through goldshire when i was level 10 or something and i was scared as hell, I didn't log on again for days. I was young, I know
#10 legitimately sent shivers down my spine when the priest said "fuck you talking about man this guy died a long time ago" and I went outside the inn and he wasn't there anymore. I'm pretty sure it's not an original idea as a ghost story but god damn is it a cool quest.
I remember my first time at halls of reflection... holy shit was that one of the most terrifying things ever. Of course, just the other day I ran through that to get the Heroic achievement and I just wanted to fight the bastard.
I was young when i started to play wow and when i was doing that worgen quest where he does jumpscares, the first time wasnt so bad didnt really scare me. but the 2nd time i went into the barn and i didnt see anyone there, i look up and around i saw him up there and he jumped right at me. it scared the shit out of me
Please don't stop making your videos, I've played since vanilla and as anyone that also did we all know it's impossible to of learnt everything in the lore from then until now, and your videos help bring out the really interesting stuff we may of missed or have forgotten, your videos always pull me away from the grinds of max level to go out to these places and see these things for myself. I've seen multiple NPC's in your videos whose existence I had totally forgotten and totally didn't remember when they turn up later on in the new expansions! Keep it up dude!
Nahsti I'm 15 years old and I used to play WoW since Wrath of the Lich King when I was 8-9 years old at the time and I was learning from my big brother. These kind of videos really make want to play vanilla because I missed it. When I was playing it was all about the gameplay or I was listening to music while doing quests. Now I realize there's a lot of nice stories behind these quests and the whole game and it makes me wanna hope for legacy servers or something. I really want to play this WoW.
The feud between Alliance & Horde is part of the WoW fun :) The funny thing is that it's generally rather young and immature people who want to differentiate themselves from younger people. And are attracted by "dark" themes :D
How could you leave out the one where you fall into the pit underneath icecrown citadel and cover yourself in faceless blood?! Then you end up finding Aretha's heart
I know right. shame on stitches for terrorizing other questers trying to just lvl up. but keeping darkshire (an alliance lvling zone) a pvp zone for horde to come and gank everyone? nah we don't need to change that.
15:38 No longer the case. 12 year olds play blood elfs since burning crusade and only go horde because they want to be "the bad guys" and let out their anger by killing humans that remind them of their parents that refuse to buy them toys and cell phones. Oh and resentful 12 year old children go wild and play blood elf Death knights. Great video as always man :D I'm pretty sure legion will add more quest like these.
Did you say Stiches was a lvl 50? Im pretty damn sure he was lvl 35 Like Morladim, in a lvl 20-25 Questing Zone... back in vanilla where even same lvl mobs could sometimes kill you =)
Lol.. seems like you didnt play Classic WoW... a quest that can be done in about 5-10 Minutes where you need to atack/kill 1- maybe 50 Enemies (if you are unlucky) is still a fucking Fast quest...
I just did #4 last week. So creepy. And the insanity was actually getting to me ... I got lost and just finished the bonus objective and immediately hearthed out
i know this was made well before BfA launched, but that one questline in Drustvar with the little girl creeped me tf out. Honestly Drustvar in general has some extremely off-putting mobs and quests.
No Darrowshire quest chain. I mean really how is that not on this list? You have Pamela's ghost to begin with finding her doll which picking it up triggers ghosts to attack you. You have a story of a hero having his soul stolen and forced to kill all of those he loved. The items you picked up, in vanilla at least, gave you a haunted debuff that would randomly spawn spirits of the dead. Really blows my mind that it isn't included here at all.
8:25 I would think it was because the crypts were VERY popular area to quest in back in vanilla for alliance players. I believe it rewarded 2 class appropriate blue by doing the whole chain. I'd say at least half of all players in the zone where in the crypts.

He was my nemesis back in classic! I died on that damn road, more times than I care to admit, questing through there. And then I got big and strong, thought I was cool, and safe, then tbc comes out... And Felreaver!! Arg! I still kill him everytime I fly through there, just for the revenge...
"Swamp" Eye Jarl had another quest that u didn't mention. It went something like this, (It's during this quest chain) Basically, he tells you to find him a blade and to do it quickly, because what he wants to use it on, won't be in the cabin forever.
I was questing in talador last night and came across a quest where u had to burn piles of dead Draenei bodies- it was prettty creepy and disturbing, the piles of bodies are pretty gross looking !
I totally forgot about Stitches! I remember back in BC being scared shitless coming across him on the road. He was basically the main reseasons why I never went to Duskwood to level.
That first quest is one that actually does creep me out. Just the fact that the restless ghost is scared of other ghosts. Then he tells you to bring a cursed object to the priest. Then you see that he is roaming the world, endlessly asking adventurers to help him out. Truly nothing can help him. AND THEN THE FACT HE JUST DISAPPEARS AFTER COMPLETION?! Holy crap. That. IS . Creepy.
Ahh! I never realized that about the Challe quest... I do remember her now in Old Nagrand but had forgotten about her when I did her Warlords quest... That's awesome!
I know this is 4 and a half years late but the quest chain for scholomance has got to be the scariest reads ive ever had read To some it up you have to talk to a ghost lady who used to be a maid there and she is accompanied with her husband she goes on about how the owner of the mansion was struggling to make money and had to find ways to acquire money thus Kel'thuzad came into play She goes on about how the mansion started getting students of necromancy and undead walking around all they could do is hide in a room and had only a little bit of rations to last for awhile. While in the room (Being there for about 6 months I believe is what the text said) they heard Screams and cries from below After awhile the husband had to go out and search for food and water soon they get caught and put into a room naked in a circle. The player replies "A circle why didnt you just run" she replies its hard to run when you have nothing but undead staring at you with a look of wanting you to try and just do that so they could eat you. The story continues on how they did experiments on them trying to make a new kind of plague the pain and screams only made the butcher laugh. Once they were near death they would get healed to try new tortures and diseases. Finally when the butcher was done they would get revived only to be thrown into a room of ghouls to be eaten alive and to be laughed by the butcher. At one point the player asks why didnt you just leave when things were bad she replies "This is the only thing we knew how to do we couldnt just leave and find another place that could take us in thus we stayed" (This is a rough summary of what the story is but its a good one and kinda terrifying to be honest Also this is based on the memory of the text just look up Eva Sarkhoff story)
That last fight in Halls of Reflection used to practically make me piss my pants if you looked behind you and saw the Lich King closing in... "TAKE THAT FUCKING WALL DOWN HURRY!!!!!!"
When you mentioned the Crypts in duskwood and that you need to fight through tons of undead. Well, let's just say there's another passage you're supposed to take which is a little secret tunnel in the ground.
Thank you for this, just installed it today (lucky me, they still support AND have updated it for 7.0!) Absolutely loving it, makes quests a lot easier to read since there is no more wall-o-text.
the reason that there are worgon in the stalvan quest is beacuase tobias is stalvans brother, and in the worgon starting zone you see him become a worgon
Unless my memory is flawed, I don't remember the "witch hill" questline ending positively in Vanilla. As I remember you turned in those quests and were just forced to move on. You had no idea what the thing was, and you don't really get to fight the demon.
I would honestly say Horde is where most of the 12 year olds are. The horde seem to enjoy throwing shitty insults at the Alliance thinking they are really insulting, when in fact it makes them look like dumbasses. Also the horde like Garrosh... Ew.

Actually, the crypts in Duskwood were around since vanilla. If anything, Karazhan was inspired by the ones in Duskwood.
Karazhan was also arround in Vanilla..
Nope. Karazhan was BC
Abigail Salier the tower was around since vanilla, but served no purpose besides lore until bc where it was made into a raid location

"...or Jaina if you're a 12 year old." It's funny because all my RL friends play Alliance...their kids, play Horde.
Valdez Those kids are going to be doctors.
Unless they're goblins.
I don't like 'em. They're scary. ECH
Probably... I've got pretty awesome friends :D
"You'll find Sylvanas or Jaina if you're a 12 year old" xD
That last fight in Halls of Reflection used to practically make me piss my pants if you looked behind you and saw the Lich King closing in...
"TAKE THAT FUCKING WALL DOWN HURRY!!!!!!"
It's funny how one small line in the video invoked the biggest flame war ever lol
I'll be honest, I did pretty poorly on this one. But you found some great others, nice vid :)
+Void Shrine Good job mate ^^
When you mentioned the Crypts in duskwood and that you need to fight through tons of undead. Well, let's just say there's another passage you're supposed to take which is a little secret tunnel in the ground.
is that some addon for quests that I didint know for for all of those years???? :O
It's called Storyline, and it's amazing.
this video never gets old for me.
I just found your videos man and I really love them! You are so awesome and I will have a marathon right now. +1 sub :) Keep up the good work!! :D
Really no Legend of Stalvan? That whole questline is really messed up on a lot of levels.
It's like some developer would take inspiration from r/niceguys and r/incels
What's that add-on at the start of the vid, right once you talked to him? Thanks for your time.
Storyline
Thank you for this, just installed it today (lucky me, they still support AND have updated it for 7.0!) Absolutely loving it, makes quests a lot easier to read since there is no more wall-o-text.
Very well made video Hiru.
the reason that there are worgon in the stalvan quest is beacuase tobias is stalvans brother, and in the worgon starting zone you see him become a worgon
Unless my memory is flawed, I don't remember the "witch hill" questline ending positively in Vanilla. As I remember you turned in those quests and were just forced to move on. You had no idea what the thing was, and you don't really get to fight the demon.
im here tosleep
8:12 you forgot to mention the tense music that comes with the jumpscares.
do you have a top 10 sad quests video?
hey, I've never seen that window in which the NPCS are interacting with you.
I've never seen it too!!! Is it an Addon???
+Omar Mejia-Ramos yea it is
It's called storyline I think
mods.curse.com/addons/wow/total-rp-3-storyline
It's a companion add on to an RP addon, but works alone for non-RPers
Any possibility to find out which song is playing at #9? xD
Great video, btw.
also #10
What is that quest dialog addon you are using? That is pretty cool.
*What add-on are you using for your quests? **_(The one making that panel with the text underneath it.)_*
I would honestly say Horde is where most of the 12 year olds are. The horde seem to enjoy throwing shitty insults at the Alliance thinking they are really insulting, when in fact it makes them look like dumbasses. Also the horde like Garrosh... Ew.
And then most normal people don't insult others for playing a different faction.
HAD Vol'jin.
Oh the irony in this post.
Twox Lox I'm not an alliance player...
+AzureRoxe You shut up. We don't speak of that sad moment in our lives.
Just wandering, is that an add on for quest dialog at 0:46 ? If so what is the name of it.
what's the addon that adds the things under his portrait in the top left around 7:58?
