Vivekachudamani Part 1 - Shankaracharya - Ramana Maharshi - Advaita

  • This work by Shankaracharya was translated into Tamil prose by Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi while he was still living in Virupaksha Cave. It is a very free translation, even the order of the paragraphs being changed to some extent.
    The Vivekachudamani is an introductory treatise within the Advaita Vedanta tradition of Hinduism. For many centuries has been celebrated as a teaching manual of Advaita. The Hindu tradition attributes it to Adi Shankara of the eighth century CE.

Also, I really appreciate it when people make suggestions for recordings so I shall research that teaching by Sri Jnaeshwar. The options are endless of course, so it's nice to receive tips and suggestions for some new and dynamic pearls of wisdom. Will look into as soon as I can. All the very best to you.

    Advaita - "not two" Vedanta "end of the vedas". Why are they distinctive and how are they related?

    • @No1Particular
      @No1Particular 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      As I understand, vedanta can be translated as end of knowledge, which can be taken to mean highest knowledge, or possibly also that which transcends knowledge. Looking further into the "not-two" it quickly becomes apparent that there is a point at which words and concepts can take one no further. This may be what the term advaita vedanta is pointing to, the absolute reality which transcends all else. I hope I haven't taken too much liberty in my musing and that it's somehow helpful.

    • @user-hw8os4dx6l
      @user-hw8os4dx6l 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Advaita Vedanta is the Wisdom of non-duality. While the literal meaning of Vedanta is end of knowledge, it actually signifies the highest wisdom. Listen to Swami Sarvapriyananda who lives in Manhattan and talks extensively about Advaita Vedanta. You can find tons of his videos on TH-cam as well

      The thing is that the closer one gets to the truth the more mind becomes quiet.The more mind becomes quiet or dissolves the more one realizes that mind was never there to begin with and one has never turned away from truth.It’s an illusion

      The background music is too loud, and there is WAY too much reverb on the voice. Otherwise, a wonderful selection of readings, and good pacing by the reader.

    Sankara, you crossed into my territory, you are telling me i am unreal? Do you know Sankara, you are the one who is unreal here? Why are you here? Have you lost your mind? I never crossed into Brahman and question the Brahman, real or unreal. I am not as suicidal as you.
