I have a broken laptop with VGA out and I think this just might be the solution to make it usable again. It is powerful enough to do any normal tasks like web browsing and word documenting so yay.
I need some help ,i have a Dell projector with only vga and video, i purchased a hdmi to vga with hdmi female end and vga male end to projector, i hooked uo a ps4 , a dvd player and its not finding the input on the projector, any other wire i need ?
As long as it can take 240p from my retro gaming rig (which has a VGA output), I'll be thrilled, as long as the lag/latency isn't bad. I only saw game intro footage in this video. How was the gameplay with respect to lag?
Gameplay is fine if you hook up to a monitor immediately downstream of the converter. If you want to capture, use an HDMI spitter just downstream and send one output to a dedicated monitor, and the other to your capture device. Latency gets pretty bad if you try to play through a "capture" window on OBS, Windows Cam app, etc.
thanks for the comparison! I tried out the MINI 1080p up scaler it has served me well. I tried another one first but it hardly made a difference to the image.
one question, Are you able to see BIOS post messages on those converters ? i had some adapter and seems that have issues to convert BIOS post messages about ram , cpu , hdd info and also i am not able to see anything on screen till windows start loading. can you do similar test focused on pc boot process. ? it's something that might be helpfull for people who have to diagnose old pc's from old CNC machines.
When using CONVERTER VGA to HDMI instead of Connecting USB CABLE to power TV, Notebook, but the correct thing would be to connect USB power cable to the TURBO CHARGER 2.1 Amper cell charger after I connected the TURBO CHARGER cell charger, it works perfect HDMI monitor image .
I used the other mini adapter, the one that is hdmi to vga to watch tv on my monitor, my cable decoder does not like the adapter, it automatically detects it in 480p and the video flickers, things work fine when I set the video in 720p but every once in a while I get a black screen with the message "image out of range" the solution I came across was to unplug the cable decoder and plug it again, sometimes it detects the video in 720p, other times in 480p so I have to set it to 720p in the cable configuration manually.
Hello! I have the black one. My laptop has hdmi and my LG monitor is Vga, so when i use with 1m hdmi cable is working but when i try to use with 3m/5m/10m cable dont work..
Brother, I need your help. I brought the white one but the first time I brought it didn't work so I replaced it and then the second one didn't work. It there any solution for this problem that these converters are not sending signal to my TV
I have a tv connected to my reolink nvr via hdmi......i figured i can connect a different tv in the living room using the vga port ...thing is tbat tv does not have vga...i bougbt a cheap adaptor from a loa store (sns price busters - in st lucia ) sadly i have not been able to get the footage from my nvr to show on my living room hisense uled tv.
I'm still confused😢😭 so I have two onn smart tvs 32 inch (HDMI) that I would like to use as monitors. I have VGA and display port on my PC. What should I use?
Nice video, there is so little info about these types of converters (I guess because it is not that common). Side by side in terms of video quality between this ADC to the original vga source, did you notice any differences? I am looking for the one with the best video quality without sharpness or colors differences. Thanks AV thrifty!
You are right. I couldn't find much about these, and that's what prompted me to make this video. I believe the "mini" is more color accurate, and video level and contrast looked the same as VGA plugged directly into my monitor. With both these converters I saw a slight loss of sharpness, but I've seen a lot worse on some capture devices.
Thanks @@ThriftyAV I actually ordered both of these and will try which one is best and return the other one, I also looked up and multiple pages state that one converter from FOINNEX is the best one, If you ever go back to this topic definitely it would be a nice video. Nice channel btw you earned a sub!
Would you say this works well for a work computer? My issue is quite unique, I have 2 32 inch gaming monitors that are my personal monitors (1 1080P, 1 1440P). The work PC has one DisplayPort, and one VGA. Now I have two monitors provided by work, but it's quite the hassle to break them down every single day and put my personal setup back together. I'd love to use something like this instead of doing that.
Hi my man, thank you for the video. taught me a lot! I have a strange problem, I have the exact same black generic VGA in to HDMI out converter you have in this video and every time I use to plug into a high resolution tv the screen goes green, very weird, have i bought a faulty piece of kit or is it something i have done wrong? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks man.
I buy one for my laptop Lenovo Y580 because he haved connected Geforce graphic card with VGA port. When I connected with HDMI to my monitor 3440x1440 then he have very low resolution. How do you think, when I will connect with this adapter my device will see high resolution on my monitor?
hi nice video i only have one question what happend when you dont use it on their max resolution, i have buy 2 differents vga to hdmi but whe the mainboard its showing POST etc i cant see anything.. i wanted to record one server and pc start/booting process but half of the process i cant see any image.... what would you recomend me
Unfortunately, the best way I know to record POST, ram tests, etc at the beginning of a boot is to point a camera at your monitor. There is a delay with these devices as they negotiate the scan resolution coming from VGA. This even occurs at the beginning of a video game if the resolution changes.
Whats with the 3.5 mm aux cable . I wna connect my monitor to laptop and i already have my headphones connected to my laptop , just wna extend the screen of laptop. Then the aux or the 3.5 mm jack cable is necessary? ...BTW nice video
VGA only contains video info, so if you want audio encoded in the HDMI signal for capture or streaming, you need to use the 3.5mm. If you want to also listen with headphones, you could use a splitter. Just keep in mind that splitting an analog audio signal will reduce amplitude, both to your headphones and to the converter. Thank you for the comment.
I got one recently and hopes it would output at 60Hz to my 60Hz only 4K screen. It doesn't support the 720x400 70Hz. I could get it to work on 240, 480, 600 low resolutions at 60 Hz. It would not work at 640x400 or 320x200. Thanks for the recommendation with the mini but it's not good for my use case unfortunately. :(
That makes sense, considering that these things are made in Asia. I would love to do an electronics shopping haul video on that side of the world someday.
Okay weird I have plenty of these black HDMI cables what I'm trying to do is get them to work on a projector that does not have HDMI it only has VGA Port is it possible cuz I've gotten it before and it didn't work and I'm thinking what in the world how is it not possible unless has to do with like HD CP or whatever that is I'm not sure but if you basically can help me that would be awesome cuz basically I have an old projector only has VGA and other inputs but no HDMI and I was trying to buy this so I can hook this up to it and then convert HDMI to the back of the adapter so it will work if not what do I need I mean I know I can buy the white adapter but that's annoying because you have to actually buy extra cords and it looks out of place
This is a tough comparison. If I use two different monitors at the same time, I have to throw a VGA splitter into the mix, and that may affect the signal. ALSO I may be seeing the difference between the monitors and not the difference between signals. If I use a single monitor that has both VGA and HDMI, I have to disconnect from the adapter and rely on my memory to look for differences. I am looking into purchasing a VGA capture device, but those are not free from visual artifacts.

What about in MS DOS? will it capture!

Why there is a usa port there...do we have to connect 5v power ...cNt we use without the power.
Got an old packard bell Pentium. Love it
