What an inane remark. She knew exactly how great she was and thus felt no need to keep making others say how great she was. No singer of her stature is without self knowledge.
@@WilsonWatt-q2e It was Richard's remark, I just repeated it genius. He was married to her for over 50 years. Maybe give him a call and straighten him out. You knew her so much better after all.

She was not her usual perfect self in this concert. Minor mistakes in the cabaletta and later in the Hamlet mad scene. Apparently she had been spooked by the lightning and the fact that every famous singer and agent in New York was present.
She admitted to being prone to lapses of memory as time went along...and we saw a few in this performance. The singing itself, however, was still head and shoulders above most of her colleagues.
@@sutherland9 Yes, that's true, and she almost always insisted on a prompter during a staged performance...later in career. " I have a lousy memory" was her usual explanation.

My main reason for living is to be able to listen to Dame Joan until I die. It’s impossible to explain the joy she brings me.
Get some help...
Richard was right. She had no idea how great she was...but we did. Thank you as always!

Once one has heard the voice of Joan Sutherland live the first time., One's life is transformed. And i'm an opera singer myself.

the voice of an angel, absolutely divine.
I’ve commented before… but again, I’m stunned by this powerful, feminine performance… Brava sempre, beloved and greatest lady
Truly her voice is magnificent, so very nice ...
Los dos Luciano y Joan son las voces más hermosas que han existido.
Dame Joan makes it all sound so easy - but even she admitted it was hard work!
Es maravillosa ,una gran voz y técnica., los agudos los canta como nadie.
Superb job on the audio clean up! If anyone stood and sang this aria half this well today, the audience would be on its feet.
Joan Sutherland una delle più belle voci del Secolo!!!!!!! 👍
Bravíssima!!!!
Las dos voces más hermosas de la lírica!!!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Very beautiful!👌🏻♥️👍🏻
Magia
Magnificent…..
The BEST!!!
😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉
❤️❤️❤️
I was Joan's understudy in The "Tales of Hoffman", the first role she ever sang at the Sydney Opera House.
So that likely means you never had the chance to appear, colorectal, as she never canceled
Feliz tu!!!
Que la tuviste cerca!!!
DIVINA ❤❤❤❤❤
She sang this earlier in her career but the low passages were much better here in her more mature voice.
A V-Shred ad played before this. ?. What a waste of time. The V-Shred, that is.
nobody trills like Rosa !
She’s the only one who gets this transition right 👉 7:00 not to mention the incredibly gorgeous trill.
Not the only one LOL.
Price got it right. And she had trills too.

Different voice type!
And Price sang the role on stage, Joan didn't attempt same.
I love her wig!!!
Surely that is her own lid ?
She had the same one for her entire career...lacquered with crazy glue to stay put!

She may not have been her usual perfect self in this concert but she far better than any other soprano in second place
She also forgot the words in the Brindisi from La Traviata. But she was still amongst the greatest.

@@joshuamcpherson007 It was common for Dame Joan to sing recitals with the sheet music in front of her - no crime, but not the norm for recitals.

Price can’t sing the cabaletta 😅
Nonsense!
Yes she definitely can
